Yeah, not changing my socks often enough was my problem last time. I'm a lot better about it now, which is why I'm surprised it's an issue again. I worry the washing machine would destroy them. Sanitation meaning what, what I outlined before with the wet towel and soap? I'm down to try that again if it'll actually work.
>>
I read 60 pages today :D

It took a little over and hour and a half >:(

I gotta get my reading speed up, ideally a page a minute. I know a minute and a half per page isn't actually bad but still.

Musician doing masters in piano here. Fucking another pianist girl that is at least 5 times better(technically) than me she is having a recital in a bit. Absolute freak in bed, probably best blowjobs ive ever had, we agreed to do anal some day soon. Kind of young so she doesn't read all that much serious stuff. Not sure what else to add.

Baroque is king. But if I had to choose probably liszt but it's unfair because he had a considerably longer life than chopin. Liszt really shines on the more profound stuff he wrote on his old age while chopin died in Spain like a little bitch from a cough. But one can't help but wonder what kind of ground shaking shit he might have written had he lived up to say 80 or something. He was clearly on the way to something great, he was studying bach and you can see some glimpses of the wind of other planets in his preludes (last stuff he wrote)

But yeah, fuck the romantic period

>>
>>25397355
My man!
I will, I want to record at least something complete from bach before I die. If you haven't please go and listen to Wolfgang Rübsam's recordings on the Lautenwerk. You may or may not agree with his eccentricities but I find that those recordings are the pinnacle of refinement and spiritual profundity. Of course maasaki and leonhardt and haas and yadayada, but you get what I mean. I see that for piano you already have Hewitt but also keep an eye for koroliov and maybe even some egorov even though he didn't record that much bach.
I'll go see a passion live later this week, I'm so happy

Absolutely! I hope you keep finding joy in bach. I cannot stop myself from recommending his cantatas though. That's where it's all at. Even a cursory understanding of German helps for the texts but anyways. Just to throw a couple of names for versions: maasaki, harnoncourt, herreweghe, rilling and of course the big daddy: Karl richter, whose mouth I would kiss even with that nicotine-caused tooth decay he had. Pretty sure this girl at the library is mindhacking me. One of the tables I like to sit at and read provides me an angle with which I can hear anyone coming down the hall, and then have my gaze ready at the corner right at the moment they come into view. I like to people watch, sue me. Anyway, this girl with glasses and a short skirt yesterday must have noticed because she kept browsing the same two/three aisles of books, which is exactly where my gaze aims, and popping out, which caused me to look up at her, and she looked back at me. I swear this happened like six times. By the end of it I was worried she thought I was a creep.

And then she was back again today! Doing the same thing! I'm reading my book, something catches my eye directly where I'm facing, and yep, it's her again, looking back at me. wtf

Now that I'm 26 years old, nothing on earth is new. Yes, my parents genie-wished me by telling me I could "eat all the pizza and iced cream I want when I'm and adult" without telling me that crap food would just fatten me and make me feel like garbage as an adult, but the entire Earth works this way.

Nobody vocalized a single lie to me, just lies by omition told to me with a gusto that's regrettably escaped from LinkedIn. Every new job, person I talk to, thing I see online, game I play, wilderness I explore, it's all the same thing over and over again until I go screwy. There is not a single iota of a vague reminder of a novel thought remaining in my life.

The fact would make me want to rope if not for that it's only been about 5 years of this graying pauedo-pergatory which might not even last forever and all that I lost was evidently things I never even had. There really is no tooth fairy! There really is no Queen of England! And all I have now are useful facts I've constructed that are far too important and well used in my life for me to ever deconstruct.

Nobody ever told me that THIS is what being an adult would feel like. I just thought I needed to make money and pay my taxes and take care of myself. Do stuff. But there never even was a way to win since this is how I feel. Life is rigged, it seems, even when it works out, you don't win. Do you? It's just busywork to distract from that there is no reason to work. There is an emptyness that either I, or my aging mind, or society, intruded into my life I cannot escape and no amount of money could pay to fill and no woman could relieve me from. Behind the curtain in the emerald city, there was only ever just a man. And this revelation did not show me that I had mind, or bravery, or heart, but that I had only ever actually seen sloth wearing a facade for mind, or stupidity wearing bravery, or cowardice wearing heart. I had more in me back then, when I didn't know.

Why we do not teach the youth of the value that they have RIGHT NOW and their rapidly deminishing all important ignorance is beyond me. Why we even see ignorance as a bad thing is far and away beyond me. We've forgotten our knowledge came from ignorance, and we've long long forgotten the respect for the youth and new blood that was maybe present in the early 19th century and has definitely been missing for almost the last 100 years.

Was it ever seen that the oppressed serf, the despoiled noble, or the captive king turned their final weapon against themselves out of despair? It would seem that what is truly more pitiable are those degenerate and bastardized nations—loving nothing, willing nothing, capable of nothing, and knowing not where to turn amidst the crushing idleness of a declining civilization—that view with a dreary indulgence the bored suicide of Apicius.

The subjects of the Seleucids and the Ptolemies deemed themselves infinitely more refined and admirable because they had wallowed longer in corruption and possessed a greater artistic sensibility. The Romans, feeling themselves more utilitarian and pragmatic—though less brilliant than their adversaries—foresaw their own victory. They were right, and events proved it.

Under the later emperors, the Roman nobility seemed incapable of any great or noble passion; no desire for distinction animated them; they sought neither intellectual superiority, nor power, nor glory. Aloof from public affairs, they would have considered it demeaning to embark upon a civil or military career. True, they were the only ones in the nation whose names history sometimes recorded; yet this was merely to chronicle the plundering of their wealth and their misfortunes. One could recount how many precious vases the barbarians had carried off from their palaces, or how many thousands of slaves they had torn from their estates; but there was nothing to be said of the nobles themselves. They were not the sort to leave a mark behind; neither character, nor memorable deeds, nor talents, nor virtues distinguished them from the common herd. They passed through the world unnoticed, in a state of shameful insignificance. The rest of the nation, even more cowardly if that is possible, seems almost to hide its existence from our inquiries.

The Westernized Afro American has lost his original ethnic character. Can you imagine an Afro American holding on to his original ethnic character? 'Oli boli, I make chop chop'
But also the Native American, the Italian, the Irish, the Anglo-Saxon, the German, everyone has been white-washed, striped from the special characteristics of his nation. I’ve been reading about Richard Henry Lee lately, it’s making me wonder how many other Founding Fathers are nearly forgotten by modern Americans. I grew up in Philadelphia so I was raised to believe that Ben Franklin and Rocky Balboa were the two most important Americans who ever lived, but I can’t remember if they ever even taught me Richard Henry Lee’s name in school even though he was known as the Cicero of the American Republic and left his fingerprints all over everything in Revolutionary America

Let us listen to Liutprand, Bishop of Cremona, a Lombard by birth. "We Lombards," he says, "like the Saxons, Franks, Lorrainers, Bavarians, Swabians, and Burgundians, hold the name 'Roman' in such contempt that, in our anger, we can find no greater insult for our enemies than to call them Romans; for in that single name, we encompass everything ignoble, cowardly, avaricious, lustful, and deceitful—in short, every vice." For their part, the Romans undoubtedly harbored no less antipathy toward their oppressors.

Yet the Lombard race flourished in Italy, while the Roman race gradually died out. The corrupt and effeminate habits of the latter led them to prefer celibacy, whereas the energy of the Lombards—and their desire to pass on to their descendants not only their name but the glory they had won—impelled them all toward marriage. Those Italians who retained some means abandoned a land that was becoming increasingly alien to them; they settled in the Duchy of Rome, the Exarchate, Greek Calabria, or the Venetian lagoons, seeking there fellow citizens and allies against their oppressors. The independence of these provinces—which the Greeks left largely to their own devices—combined with their small size and the constant dangers to which they were exposed, rekindled a love of country in the hearts of all their inhabitants.

Only on /lit/, behind a mask of anonymity, could I find something so cruel. You're absolutely right. It does not help.

It's likely that the rest of the late Roman nation did even less than the nobles, since they had less money and even less to imagine doing with it. And then you might think maybe it was better to be Apicious or part of one of the more deluded societies, but those people and nations were all doomed to die by lucid hands.

Aphrodite, last spawn of Chronos and with the ocean, had two lovers and an unhappy marriage with Hephestos Zeus ordained. Her affairs were with Aries and with Hermes. Beauty and technology is always forced to be together, yet beauty wants to be with war and with communication. The application of science, the application of Zeus, Hephestos, brings about the oppression of beauty and the abuse of technology. Do you suppose Aphrodite would enjoy our wholehearted rejection of aesthetics for the sake of immediate enjoyment? We could have flying cars, and they would become boring to us as paint on a wall. And do you suppose Hephestos enjoys the false promises of beauty and flourishing ascribed to his technology? Do you think he'd like seeing us on our phones all day wasting our lives away to addiction because of his doing? The advance of science always comes with the advance of technology always comes with the loss of novelty and beauty in our lives.

I don't know what to do about it. Maybe be more like Hermes, and if not him then Aries. But, here we are. And it's hard to see how this would actually help. Aphestos and Zues and Hermes and hephestos are all myth. We know this because we're more technologically advanced, knowledged, and thus more civilized than those Greeks and Romans or anyone on Earth before we were here.

I realised in Thailand that I don't deal safe and relaxed around white people. There's a certain entitlement to their body language that makes it seem that they will attack you and law enforcement will take their side. Can't be trusted.

It started on the flight when some Indian parapalegic with some plastic replacement on for his missing leg asked the white foid in front of him to un-lean her seat, because it was hitting his leg. And the foid refused rudely. He then had to get the flight staff to change his seat and the foid fell asleep.

Let me tell you that if it was some Indian in her place, no matter how callous or entitled, would've accomodated for a disabled man in a flight that barely lasted four hours. It was the first time I had seen anything like this.
>>
it really hurts to know you are the problem but also lack the knowledge or capacity to rectify the issue.
all you can do is stare out at the world and feel this terrifying loneliness within yourself.
there is no comfort or relief to the feeling, its just unending loneliness and grief for what you could've been i guess.

Anyone else currently experiencing, or has experienced, "cute girl fatigue"?
I'm not talking about real women, but of artworks of all kinds, representations, symbols. The ideal woman as object of adoration, the way otakus do in anime and the way advertisers do.
It feels like a sizeable chunk of the population worships female fantasy (not real women, but what an ideal woman is). And I guess I did too. I hoarded pictures, I was obsessed with learning to draw women, all my attempts at stories featured women, I followed artists who drew women, I bought video games and products with cute women, watched shows if they featured cute women, had little figures and stickers and posters of cute fictional women. And somewhere down the line I just wondered why? Why am I doing this? Why do I keep doing it?
In the end, it felt as if all these were manifestations of the same longing for perfect companionship I felt when I was a teen. A desire that time and time again was proven to be incompatible with reality.
It felt as if all of these drawings and characters where representations of the same mirage. Suddenly, it felt as if there was nothing at all behind any of this, but the illusion of being closer to something that doesn't exist. The product of an immature mind, ascended to the status of collective idol. Hoarding pictures, drawing them yourself, consuming media, none of these things satisfy anymore, none of these things trigger any feelings in me, other than mistrust and contempt.
Feels either like rubbing salt into a wound, consuming the delusions of others who either cling to a fantasy (sometimes with extreme weariness too) or completely disappear into it (the insane waifu worshipper, the DeviantArt autist), or letting myself be controlled by engineered stimuli.
I felt the imperious need to adorn my world with this symbol, but now it feels like nothing. Feels like a lie, a cope that no longer works, an exploitable memetic package (picrel is an example of the power of the "cute girl" that can be used by groups on the internet as a mascot of sorts). And I see that this isn't anything new, that mankind has been doing this for a while now, down to giving ships and weapons female names or using them in propaganda. An insatiable desire to be not with a woman, but an ideal woman that never had a shape for me. Another idol that fails.
Personally, it feels like the nervous system of my teenager self is trying to keep itself alive in an adult body, and failing.
>>
>>25398925
Personally, I always found it cringe. The juxtaposition, even ironically, of like cute anime girls and big guns was tenuous at best and only accepted because of the old internet zeitgeist and gestalt faggotry. I'm a dude, I want to see dudes doing stuff. I dont give a fuck what ladies are doing, cute shit is pandering, and the "you're actually more gay for looking at a man" shit is just reverse psychological faggotry.

I just like blood and guts. And stories about guys like me, or people I could aspire to be. Kawaii genki girl number 8471 requires a lot of effort to get there

I think it speaks to the nature of fiction. I find women protagonists are all about diferentiating themselves and retaining their femininity. Internal monologues rationalizing their behaviour, risque romance, betrayal, dealing with trauma. Fucking yuck. I dont like it when men do that stuff, just because tits are slapped on doesnt make it any better. The plot and characters are shoehorned around it, the experience is rarely organic.

The ladies I like? Baiken and Noi. Sure, they're ladies, but more to the point they're just characters. One armed sassy samurai with an eyepatch? Hell yeah. Childlike magically regenerating punch demon? Hell yeah. Doesnt matter if you're male or female when you're cool, like Sarah Connor in T2 or that lady with the headband in Aliens. A mary sue protagonist lamenting her past trauma while struggling to conncect to the world around them, desperate for acceptance and validation, using her feminine whiles to her advantage as a fish out of water in a man's world? Pass. There are 10 billion stories like that, and they're all equally shallow.

This grotesque ogre-lookin' dude at the library was so shameless in his leering. He stumbled over to the section I was sitting in that contained a couple of girls in shorts, and the guy literally stared at them right in front of their face while walking slowly lol, it made everyone so uncomfortable. Honestly, if he had lingered any longer or outright stopped, I might've said something, because I felt so bad for the girl sitting next to me. No one should be made to feel like that.

I know what some of you all are thinking, "what's so bad about being checked out? girls only upset because he was ugly" and while you'd have somewhat of a point, it was how he was staring, like they were a piece of meat or a painting on the wall, no shamelessness or surreptitiousness whatsoever.

And yes, the ugly, ogre part. He looked like a mentally deficient rapist.

Kitsch is when the naked lady in the painting smiles at the observer. Art is when she's sad or stares blankly at nothing in particular.
>>
>>25399105
>I saw a really ugly guy
>and he had the audacity to look at women as if he wasn't a blight
>my gosh, I might have said something if he did it just one moment longer, I felt so performatively bad
>but I definitely didn't do anything other than grandstand online about a hypothetical while insulting someone
>because I'm a good person after all
>>
>>25399151
Kitsch is when the art is self aware and brings you joy. It's gaudy, direct, and bold. You know what it is and how it works immediately, anyone does. It simply is, without trying.

"Actual art" is brooding and pretentious. It cannot be enjoyed adequately without a paper about it, discussing the symbolism in depth. But funny enough, uninhibited and kitsch are two prime descriptors of post modern art, except it makes the observer feel complicit, rather than happy. So technically you are correct.

My favorite are things that didnt exist until relatively recently that are codified into the fabric of reality as immutable, not because they're effective, but because the inertia around changing them is too big of a deal to switch. Particularly "metrics" and "statistics", like net promoter score. That shit is just zero if you get below an 8 on a survey. That's it. A rational person might really like something and say "I enjoy this knife, it may not be the best knife ever because of the odd handle geometry, but it cuts and I'm glad I bought it", then give it a 7. Poof, into the trash it goes in favour of "this knife transcends space and time, slicing tomatos gave me an errection so vigorous that I mistook it for a priaprism" and gives it a 10. Fundamentally the assumption is every offering you have is the best thing ever, and people are idiots if they dont know that, so NPS completely warps all feedback and cleans anything remotely moderate so the company can enjoy group think from idiots who dont understand their products
>>

There’s good and bad. You try to focus on their good qualities and the things you like about them and not the fact that they hate you. If you focus on the fact they hate you it hurts and makes you sad, so you don’t do that. The good, is taking them in the abstract to use them as some kind of muse to write and draw or something.

I tried wiping down the inside of my shoes with a towel, water, and handsoap to get rid of the smell, then left it outside to air dry overnight. I'd say it's about 70% gone. It was difficult to get the towel all the way toward the deepest insides, where the toes go. Hopefully wearing fresh socks everyday is enough to solve the problem.

Also, let's say I go for a 40 minute walk at noon, then go out at 3. Is wearing the same socks for this okay? Or should I be switching to fresh ones even for this, and that's probably my issue?

I don't understand why travel is so fetishized, especially to major cities, when all western cities look the same (save for the kitschy souvenirs sold at the tourist traps), sound the same (you hear the same franco-anglo-arabic-hindi pidgin in all of them), and are inhabited by the same rootless biosludge from the world over.

The world that people are claiming to see when they travel is a world that hasn't existed for decades at this point, the afterimage just refuses to dissolve in the public perception because travel agencies need to sell you on the idea that they are still around.

My will to do anything hard or complicated is gone. I'm so tired. My whole life has been painful other than some brief moments of happiness, which do make it all worth it. Maybe I'll become a welder, that seems low stress. At least I'm still losing weight.

At least a month I think of the line, "her fingers were hot and damp, like worms" from Faulkner. Idk it just stuck with me. Like the line from Wuthering Heights abt Mr. Lockwood dragging the apparition's wrists across the broken glass trying to break its grip. "The terror made me cruel." Great writing.

Are you really capable of letting go of your ambition?
I don’t get any rewards for what I do every day; I’m living on a drip that I unnaturally come up with every day.
As a last resort I would probably push myself to the limit; stick face in the mud; to the point of exhaustion and literal death.
There’s no room in my life for anything else.

Stop it. Stop thinking like that right now. Actors are prostitutes, all of them.

What does Christianity mean to you

Love God, love your neighbor. That's the core of it. And it isn't simple it's like a fractal or something, Christian love is infinitely applicable and generative. Christ's promise of spiritual and eventually physically redemption and resurrection is the only thing that can justify everything that's happened.

Resurrection for real?

That's what we were promised

I would hate to make my mom sad by winding up in Hell, but I've never believed in Christianity, even as a child. I find it to be an interesting world view, and I'd be more sympathetic to its existence if many of its adherents weren't obnoxious authoritarians, but ultimately it's not for me. If I were a Christian, I'd like a relationship with Jesus to be friendly enough to where I could draw a dick in his mouth and him not get offended, but God seems rather conceited, and I don't feel like worshipping anything.
