you are using too many retarded terms to describe a trivial fact.
Life is suffering in the sense you won't never know with certainty what you are and why you are here.
You are probably going to the same void from which you came. Everything in your life is worthless, from the exams you take and the job you work, to the relationships you have with your parents and those around you. You might feel a bit better knowing this will happen to every living being on earth, but even this discussion is meaningless. Time will move forward, and your life is infinitesimally short compared to the rest of the universe. You are a lost consciousness on a huge rock, drifting among many others toward an unknown destination. You will never be able to objectively know what you are or why you are here, all you can ever know is your own representation of reality. Just accept it. You can create illusions for yourself like finding love or making friends to bear the short time you are alive, but keep in mind that these are only illusions and deep down, existence is suffering

I don't find existence to be suffering. Even though I've been through a lot of bullshit, I still have some baseline of contentment, even when my routine deteriorates into nothing but work and sleep.
Suffering is just one component, not the entirety, and I've personally never felt any type of existential dread about how ephemeral my life compared to the scale of the universe. I see that as a silly comparison to make in order to judge something's value to me personally. It's like hearing someone saying "I love you" and immediately countering with "So what? The universe will be nothing but a cold void with enough time." Things don't have to be eternal in order to be significant or meaningful, and I personally see that life's brevity is something that adds reward to the experience, as cliché as that perspective may seem.
But my initial post wasn't necessarily about finding meaning in a meaningless world, at least not entirely. It was more just a release from the feeling that an experimence has to be cosmically significant in order to be formative, which is admittedly trite, but this is WYT thread, anyway, so I don't mind as much.

I never equated pessimism to intelligence, but I also don't really see it as antithetical to it, either. I find it odd that someone would consider the final stage of life is to invert its will upon itself and loathe the entire thing. That makes me wonder if they're actually sincere, because the ones who are typically commit to the belief through suicide.
I do use my brain for various things, though sure, intellectualism is something that I've largely abandoned in a strict sense. I still value the intellect, but it's not the apex of my existence anymore, because I was concerned with constantly trying to outfox reality with reason, it tended to develop into an insoluble neurosis, but that's probably just a failure on my end, and not something to can generalize to other people.
As for wage slaving and consuming, I honestly used to be homeless and immersed myself in books, but my current lifestyle is a necessary trade off. I don't mind my job, but work is necessary in any form to sustain oneself, and I make enough to live off, so I don't really feel compelled to become an enlightened NEET.

My bad, I didn't see this.
I enjoy steak, and french fries. These experiences aren't really illusory, they just aren't that meaningful.
Something that aligns with my personal composition, and resonates with me deeply in a profound sense, may be cosmically insignificant (after all, what isn't?), but it still retains a personal significance to me, and I've pretty much already demonstrated that things don't have to be eternal to be meaningful or worthwhile. If that were the case, then death, a completely empty state of existence, would be the most significant thing we do, because it's the only facet of our life that's completely permanent.
So I can see the appeal in suicide, if life is just meaningless suffering, but it isn't, and I've experienced this directly, and your response is just to say that this experience lacks authenticity in some way, when you seem to mistakenly attach the recognition of cosmic insignificance to a personal state of suffering about that fact, when cosmic insignificance genuinely doesn't bother me, because I can respond with an equally insignificant, apathetic "Who cares?"

And to be honest, cosmic insignificance is kind of relieving, like my accomplishments and mistakes will eventually wither into the void with everyone else, so I don't really feel near as much pressure to make anything of myself, at least not to a degree that would prompt some absurd relationship between my impermanence and annihilation's inevitably.

If weed ever gets legalized in my country, I will become a fascist. I hate the smell so, so much. People who smoke it should be beaten with canes or work tobacco fields or something useful.
>>
>>25451794
i like the smell of weed, too bad the weed high sucks ass
>>
>>25451794
It is kind of stanky, but it's a good stank.
That feeling of repulsion goes away when you actually smoke it and your brain is chemically switched to associate it with pleasure.
Although I do find it kind of funny that something as innocuous as an unpleasant smell would incite such a visceral response from someone.
Honestly, if someone actually smoked it and still retained fascistic sensibilities, I'd be more interested in hearing their point of view, but most people who smoke end up being too calm to wind up advocating for a brutal system of political oppression that would benefit a select few that they are likely not a part of.
Unless you're fine with having your livelihood strictly controlled, but then I'd consider you more machine than man.
>>
>>25451794
as someone who used to smoke a ton of weed pretty much all through high school, weed should stay illegal. it makes you crazy unless you're retarded.
>>
>>25451814
For the most part, only retarded people and teens (retarded) smoke it.
>>
>>25451794
u seethe about the smell of weed but not bum piss or whatever? weird
>>
>>25451794
Weed’s legal over here and it cut down on scent considerably. When you have companies producing and selling gummies and vapes legally, most smokers quit having to go outside and eat smoke to stay high. The pot water is ez too
>>
>>25451810
also because i hate these people who are like "dude... you just need to like... calm down and smoke a joint brah haha"
>>
>>25451825
It's actually a valid response.
I'd do the same for any substance, although I wouldn't advocate usage for someone who genuinely doesn't like the experience.
I used to hate people in high school who smoked weed, because it altered their entire personality, but then I started smoking weed and my judgment of them substantially lessened, even though I didn't adopt it as a personality trait myself.
The point is basically that, if your beliefs about weed are sound enough, then they should be able to withstand or even strengthen with the experience of getting high.
If you never smoked it, but feel the need to speak on it, then I don't really feel obligated to take your opinion very seriously, because it's formulated within a state of partial ignorance.

I suspect that Zen koans are actually a self-parodying joke format where literal random gibberish is presented as if it's deep and profound, and the point of them is to send posers on wild goose chases trying to find some meaning that isn't there. In other words it's a kind of test, where recognizing the bullshit elevates you above the level of the poser.

If this is correct, the neat part is that a poser with sufficient levels of cope can hear this explained, as in this post, and still think that pondering koans can lead to some kind of revelation or enlightenment. Spoiling the surprise won't work. So they really have to comprehend it on their own to move past that level.

In a lot of ways yes, they are self-destroying sentences meant to be read from both sides, and the riddle between them exposes the silliness of one or both sides of the conflict. Oftentimes the silliness of words is the meaning itself, which kind of breaches the layer of maya (the bullshit between us and the truth) and just is fun to keep in mind especially if you're a simple chink farming rice in some slavish underclass asking 'why must i farm rice?'. What koan did you have in mind?

i think the people who were super sweaty in school getting the best grades and scores so they could get into selective schools and then get jobs in finance were right all along. tech is garbage in the 21st century. the last cool thing was the iphone. literally every silicon valley thing since then has been some toxic shit that corrodes society. as for "creative" shit, yeah, art is cool, but u want to go through life being poor and living in shitty neighborhoods and being an adjunct at shitty schools to make ends meet? fuck that.

>>25451986
Solely for personal material success, yeah. It's a bit too "doesn't contribute anything to society, and may in fact be toxic" for my tastes though.
>>
>>25451996
dude efficiently allocating capital, which is to say society's resources, is the most important thing someone can contribute. not to mention the bond market is the only thing that keeps politicians in check. the "first world" and/or "industrialized world" only came into existence because of advances in banking.

Maybe instead of saying "I used to make money playing video games" I should say "I used to be a professional video game player." I used to think the latter was too nerdy (especially if it were "professional gamer," ehck), but I don't know, maybe it's my delivery but the former answer doesn't seem to be doing much good either, except for a couple girls who were really into me.

>Maybe instead of saying "I used to make money playing video games" I should say "I used to be a professional video game player."

I watched that movie for the first time while tripping, and still remember how vivid the blood splatter at the beginning felt. I was thinking far too abstractly throughout the entire film, and considered Thompson's bizarre movements to be a kind of synchronization measure between mind, body, and environment, like he was aligning himself with various stimuli that were all pertubating into a continuous field. I also thought the hitchhiker at the begining was a metaphor for the viewer, that we were basically a naive, innocent soul being swept up in a depraved adventure by two drug-addled madmen. Then the reptiles hit, and I was convinced that this was another dimension of the human psyche that was more primal and devilish, like the manifestation of our primordial sense of individual self.
Shit was pretty weird, but I'm kind of saddened that nothing will ever take me back to the first time of watching that movie, with all its vivid color schemes and wacky occurences.

That's a humbling recognition, but one that shouldn't elicit disillusionment.
I have four core virtues, revealed to me from an intense psychedelic experience. They were courage, kindness, faith, and humility. Very simple, very grounding. "Intelligence" wasn't even considered, even though I value it highly and have been praised as "smart" throughout my life, and that's because I find intelligence to be somewhat disorienting. You can rationally assess every dimension of reality with extreme acuity, but this doesn't necessarily open the gate to self-understanding. It merely complicates the lock. That's why I like birds. Feeble in intellect compared to humans, but completely in tune with their own nature, since they lack the abstract faculties that can convolute perception into inadequate systems of valuation. This isn't to say that ignorance or stupidity are to be praised because they're more aligned with the blind forces of nature, but rather they're essential features of the human condition that place an effective counterweight on our presumptions.
Imagine if you were gifted with a pristine intellect, and understood everything about the world effortlessly. What would you do with that? I think, in the end, the answer to that is more valuable towards the assessment of one's true character than evidence of the intellect's inherent virtue.

It's weird seeing primitive wiring conflict with modern conditioning. Grog want hump, but Grog no want be person that gets hump.
You likely need more experience with women in situations where you aren't pursuing them romantically, as the filtering process for such endeavors is starting to distort your perception of them into a singular whole (lol) with no defining characteristics between them.
What is it in particular that fills you with disgust?
Is it basic hygiene, or a sincere interest in their personality? You can go anywhere with enough finesse to sleep with a woman on the first night, but this rarely results in a lasting relationship.
Sometimes women just want to fuck, and that can lead them to submitting to barbaric impulses like having sex with someone solely because their dick is big, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, because it's equally as superficial as men generally not preferring to pork a tubby girl if they had the option to fuck a supermodel, regardless of how sweet of a person the tubby girl happens to be.

I use AI quite a bit sometimes, whenever I'm bored and feel like exploring some idea I find to be interesting. Claude typically offers a very balanced, informative response, and explicitly defines errors in my reasoning that I find genuinely helpful. I'm basically autistic so rarely get a stable interlocutor with access to a wide spectrum of information, so I appreciate that I can kill time developing systems that engage my brain. It helped me understand mathematics a lot more, too, largely by educating me on some of the basics of set theory, which helped everything click.
People with a ravenous hatred for AI seem unreasonable to me, and I'm sure once the singularity hits they're going to have a lot of explaining to do with our future mecha-god.

You're in Vancouver. I'm in North Carolina. We can talk to each other through the power of the internet. It is staggeringly unlikely we will ever meet in person, and extraordinarily unlikely we will ever knowingly talk to each other again. We might bump into each other anonymously on this board or elsewhere online but we'd never realize it. For all intents and purposes this is the only time we'll ever chat. What's life in Vancouver like. What are your hopes and dreams and fears

I got my Ritalin yesterday, and have been up all night being obnoxious on 4chan.
There's something about stimulants that I can't tell if it increases my confidence, or just disengages the filter that recognizes when I'm being annoying.
Experimenting with this in public is equally inconclusive, as even though I'm generally more talkative and people seem sincerely responsive to what I have to say, I don't know if I just manically coerce them into a state of discomfort where they feel forced to respond, but this could easily be my pessimism and general insecurities reasserting themselves in chemically-suppressed ways.
I'm probably fine, for the most part, and it could possibly be some mixture of both. Socialization is usually complex enough to hold multiple conflicting variables that don't necessarily contradict one another, so I guess I have to be learn not to place too much emphasis in the interaction.
I don't really mind having a small circle of friends, and also, most people tend to not realize many things about me until I point it out, such as saying that I'm on Ritalin and having that skew perception of the entire event.
I need to try going to work on MDMA and not telling anyone. Usually that helps me socialize without much negative interference, and the results are typically positive, albeit rather transient.

I believe that the fundamental idea of progress is systems working to their point of failure, and we were on the brraking point of an interesting system when the world became incredibly small from about 2010 onwards. Now, unfortunately rather than seeing any system break we are seeing it devolve to fascism while only being left with the hope of technological transcendence through AI. Yet, it is obvious that AI, if it doesn't turn us to the stone age (best outcome) will be used to motheringly enforce as demi-god like feudalism, and the death of thought.

please stop your retarded bullshit. If space is within time, then there is map/reduction from space to time, so space is pointless and everything can be described with respect to time which means = brain damage
The spatial properties of matter can also change with time, but space is not literally “inside" time
>>
>>25453007
I'm using "inside" very loosely. Think of an Euler diagram with the greater circle being time, and within that circle would be the circles of space and matter perfectly overlapping.

Because that attempted global “workers” revolution thing that nearly half the world joined in on in the last century ended in more misery and death and less freedom and quality of life for everyone involved. >>25453115
It's going to be a spiritual revolution, dawg, when humanity realizes its all a singular being and choose unconditional love for one another above all else, with people recognizing the mutual benefit of selfless servitude for the well-being of all sentient life.
It's not a pipe-dream, but the default configuration of humanity's deepest essence, but it's been corrupted by ignorance and false impressions, leading us to degradation and internal strife.
So, if you refuse, you will be classified as a cancerous malcontent, and swiftly deported to a prison colony on the moon for rehabilitation, with the last resort being execution if you still consciously resist assimilation and deny your inner nature.
At that point, it's merciful, because the afflicted is fundambetally incapable of accepting objective truth, so society has no obligation to support someone who only takes and never gives.
Hatred will naturally wither away, and we will probably have no need for money because the system is not engineered around individual competition for resources.

The racial relationships between the Romano-Britons and the Germanic tribes from Jutland (3) powerfully facilitated a compromise between them. For the vanquished, this compromise was necessarily based on abandoning most imports from the south and accepting Germanic ideas; for the victors, it entailed making concessions to the demands of an administration that was stricter and more robustly structured than the one whose "light yoke" they had previously prided themselves on bearing (1). Institutions emerged that remained closely linked to Scandinavian origins. Land tenure in the forms of *odal* and *feod*, political rights based exclusively on land ownership, a preference for agricultural life, the gradual abandonment of most towns (2), the proliferation of villages—and especially isolated farmsteads—the firm preservation of the freeman's liberties, and the enduring influence of representative councils: these were the traits through which the Aryan spirit revealed itself and demonstrated its persistence. In contrast, phenomena of a completely opposite nature—such as the growth in the number of towns, increasing indifference toward participation in public affairs, and a decline in the number of truly free men—marked the advance of a very different set of ideas on the Continent.

In the broader scope of human history, few situations parallel that of the populations of Great Britain from the 10th century to the present day. Elsewhere, Aryan or Aryanized groups have been seen bringing their energy to multitudes of different composition, endowing them with power while simultaneously absorbing a culture—already highly developed—that their own genius would then evolve in a new direction; Yet one has not considered those elite stocks—concentrated in large numbers within a confined territory and exposed to the admixture of races that, while socially subordinate, were more refined by experience—only in very limited measure. It is to this exceptional circumstance, combined with the slow pace of their social evolution, that the English owe the solidity of their empire; it was certainly not the most brilliant, the most humane, or the noblest of European states, yet it remains the most vigorous.

I now abandon the notion of "just practice it bro". I have spent time reading, writing thoughts, reading more, and I'm nowhere near as articulate as I should be. Moreover, I have nothing, absolutely nothing interesting to say. How do you practice being interesting when you're not doing it organically in a company of people over your formative years anyway. Anxiety is not fair. I was walking home from the bus just now in the heat and a car pulled up next to me, stopped, and the man, who turned out to be my neighbor, asked if I wanted a ride. Naturally I declined, said thank you, then an additional "I appreciate it!" with my trademark smile so no offense would be occured.

And then soon after he sped off, I began to have one of my mini anxiety attacks, which manifests in annoying, embarrassing symptoms meant to offload some of the excess energy: violently muttered phrases and words, generally curse words and negative phrases like "I hate myself, I hate myself" and "If I kill myself I kill myself but if I kill myself, I kill myself" (with the added bonus of constant worrying someone might overhear me, further adding to the anxiety!); wild, reflexive gesticulations, like making odd faces including grimacing, smiling widely, snarling, or holding my phone and book in odd positions; and lastly, small, painless instances of self-harm, like scratching my arm and punching my palm.

I don't get it, anxious about what? The exchange went okay, and yet, the remaining walk home was awful. Thank God there's no camera recording me lest the world think I'm one of those raving mad schizophrenic hobos on the corner in Philly or NYC.

Deep and dark are my true love's eyes
Blacker still is the winter turning
As the sadness of parting proves
And brighter now is the lantern burning
That lightens my path to love

No fiddle tune will take the air
But I'll see her swift feet a-dancing
And the swirl of her long brown hair
Her smiling face and her dark eyes glancing
As we stepped out Blinkbonny Fair

And if my waiting prove in vain
Then I will pack and track ever take me
And the long road will ease my pain
No gem of womankind will make me
E'er whisper love's words again

For in drink I'll seek good company
My ears will ring with the tavern's laughter
And I'll hear not her last sweet sighs
Then who's to know in the morning after
That I long for her dear dark eyes

Theyll feel awkward and just fuck off.

I'm beginning to wonder whether or not there's a point to being an "indie" author now. Half the presses and mags I get published in fold, and no writing ventures in the scene get anywhere close to being profitable. That'd be fine if anyone even read the books put out by indie presses, but they don't. Really, you can end up throwing 1,000 hours into a book, only to have 100 people read it. It's grim stuff. Say what you will about the need to express ourselves artistically and all that, but the overall feeling I get from most indie writers who can see the writing on the wall is one of sheer dread. Things aren't looking good, bros. Starting to think I should treat this as a hobby, at best.

>>25454055
i think indie died in early 2010s. People have been trying to revive a dead corpse for 10 years or so.

>Starting to think I should treat this as a hobby
I thought this every year for 10 years and once I finally gave up I wished I did it 10 years earlier. Don't be a retard and get yourself a future cause eventually it will be too late to unfuck your life if you're treating this as something serious

did dylan write tangled up in blue? that shit goes hard af ngl
>>
>>25454066
Feels that way, yeah. The whole "DIY" thing just ain't it anymore, when books that are well-crafted get lopped in with and often lose out to AI-generated junk and low-effort nonsense. Self-pubbing was, for the most part, a mistake. Very few great works have come out of it.
>>25454071
I appreciate the perspective, anon. I just got re-certified in a field that should allow me to make some decent money. I managed to make it further in my writing career than most, but even then, I just don't think there's a living to be made here, unless you resign yourself to writing horrifically simple genre fiction, or you blast your shit out into the world non-stop through TikTok and stuff. I think I've finally gotten the whole "misunderstood artist" thing out of my system. I'd be curious to hear about your publishing history, though. You manage to make it into any decent mags or anything like that?

>>
>>25454080
I figure if you have a story you need to tell you might as well write it and publish it however you can, and if no one else cares then you did your part, and maybe years or decades down the line it'll get read more widely.

I used to hallucinate a completely autonomous child, and that was my son, but when I began to reason more thoroughly, his existence started to dissipate. For the months I interacted with him, I established a sincere, fatherly connection with him, and it came naturally, like it was the one thing in my life I was truly good at. But, whenever the hallucination began to deteriorate, my brain couldn't really distinguish between him and an actual child, so the choice to withdraw and return to reality felt like I was actually abandoning him, which is something I would never do. He then appeared one night, in my doorway, with a distorted face and crying blood, with his whimpers sounding like dissonant, shrill echoes.
I just closed my eyes and repeated to myself that he wasn't real, then eventually the crying stopped and he was gone.
I'm very fortunate that I can now analyze the experience and detach myself from the sadness, because I'm able to recognize that an intricate hallucination of a loving son is just a simulation, and the pain from losing him is nothing like I'd imagine losing an actual child would be like.
Still, it was nice to feel admired by a dorky little puppy-kid for a relatively brief time, even though it reminds me that I'll likely never have actual children of my own.

Yeah, this is how I'm starting to see it. All the fanciful notions I used to have about making a living as a writer are gone. What matters is the integrity of your art, and whether or not you can tell yourself at the end of the day that you got out everything you needed to. I'm proud of the work I've done, and I'll carry my books with me throughout the rest of my life. On to new things.
