=READ THE GUIDE=

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For the unclear, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!

And don't forget to report shitposting and spam.

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post images whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting images.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data from images when they're uploaded to the site from your phone, including the orientation display tag. To fix this, save your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.
One commonly used app that works well on Android:

You make a good point, with how much money seed made and how that series is going extremely strong, making a few male figures here and there would probably sell.

When you paint your inner frame metallic, do you pretty much have to top coat individual pieces over subassemblies? There are lots of visible parts of the frame that would be hard to mask to top coat the whole leg at a time.

The RG unicorn kits are all pretty good. You get the choice of fixed V-fin or transformable. If you're painting I'd say pick either mode. If not then whatever. Really don't think there's any reason to ever buy an HG unicorn gundam considering the RG are pretty nice and you can pick either destroy/unicorn mode in one kit.

Asking again in this thread, since I thought I should probably provide more details:

I'm doing a full paint job on an early RG kit, where the inner frame isn't meant for display but is there to do all the structural movement. A few places like the elbows, armpits and knees will be exposed through movement, and I'm sure the same will apply to a good chunk of the rest of the leg frame given how the armor pieces separate there. Since it's an RG kit there's a bunch of sliding rails and shit that I'm sure will result in paint flaking out of the joints over time if I just wholesale spray the entire inner frame as if it were a single piece.

Should I even bother trying to paint the inner frame at all, given all the moving parts involved? Or do I just surrender and only top coat the most prominent areas to get rid of the plastic look? For my intended paint job the inner frame is distinctly not gray so it'll be super obvious that it's not the right color, but I think I'm willing to settle for "good enough" since this will be only the second Gunpla that I'll have fully painted so far.

I use glass eyedroppers with detachable rubber bulbs, and clean them out after use. Makes for less plastic waste, and I can be more efficient with paint use since I detach the bulb after transfer and drip thinner down the glass tube to wash the additional paint down. That also has the bonus of making cleaning easier since there's less residue to wash out afterward.

If they're going by the "modern" version of the ZZ, then the Full Armor will be applied to the Enhanced ZZ and not to the Ver. Ka. Which is unfortunate since the MG Enhanced is P-Bandai only.

If you can get your hands on a FAZZ you could paint it to look like a Full Armor ZZ, but from what I've seen other anons say it won't be able to armor purge back into a ZZ due to lack of parts.

This anon is mostly correct but also still a little wrong. That new rear skirt plate the FAZZ includes instead of the Enhanced ZZ runner piece is actually the piece you need to run Full Armour ZZ, it's designed for the torso armour cables to connect back to it. It also has a piece for the huge gun, but running that isn't really Full Armour ZZ despite what non-anime material has done with it since.

It is a problem that you don't get the proper extended vents underneath the beam sabre mounts for the backpack though. The J1 and J2 blue parts on the EZZ runners are solely for extending the fangs of the abdomen/lower chest armour where the core fighter attaches, so if you're displaying it as FA form you won't even see those parts at all so missing them isn't a huge deal. Unless it's duplicated on a runner somewhere then, the only thing stopping FAZZ ver Ka + ZZ ver Ka from being a perfect FAEZZ appearance wise will be the vents beneath the beam sabres and nothing else.

You need the ZZ to make it 99% accurate. You need the EZZ to make it 100% accurate for these vents. >>22593985 FAZZ alone gives you a different backpack but still looks close enough if you paint the fucker blue and call it a day.
>>
>>22594074
Enhanced ZZ uses ZZ's backpack. FAZZ has a unique backpack. There are new slots from the EZZ (longer wings/covers/missile pods/beam sabres) that are shared with FAZZ, but not the basic backpack those things attach to.
>>
So in order to make an accurate Full Armor ZZ you need to not only buy the Ver. Ka, but also a P-Bandai expansion set and a kit that hasn't been reprinted in years.

They make a standalone EZZ PB kit. It was reprinted last year. It's not that rare. FAZZ was like 2 years ago for the last reprint I want to say but I haven't been really following it.

>>
>>22593893
technically yes and no

the FAZZ has new arm parts (skinnier arm and grooves) that allow armor parts to latch on to, the crotch armor is a little bit different so that the armor parts can latch on to it.

TL;DR: you need to transplant parts from the FAZZ before you can use the full armor parts

the gap is specifically for when the v fin is stowed down for transformation.
it's a little odd though, as the head cannon and top two fins are on a sliding mechanism, and it could simply not retract fully flush and the gap wouldn't need to be engineered in. There should be plenty of clearance with it sticking out an extra 1.5mm.

i like the detailing in the cockpit, but i think it would kinda weird to have it posed with the lance while the cockpit is open, plus it looks like a big ear canal kind of

my familiarity with FSS is limited but I think it's not out of the question to have the pilot leave it in an ostentatious pose when he gets out and checks on the fatima. If she has a separate cockpit? I dunno, if they share the place he could just be having a smoke outside.

nta but you can actually get close to that look with water based paints. vallejo makes water based acrylic-urethane candy clears and their water based acrylic-urethane gloss varnish is very glossy. green stuff world also make water based acrylic candy clears. for metallics vallejo's metal color is pretty good, and that undercoat looks like silver rather than a mirror chrome. the paint selection is more limited and getting a good finish out of these paints is a pain in the ass compared to lacquers, though.

Want to start with making custom builds, any recommendations for 30MM or gunpla kits that would fit a racing mech??
>>
>>22596105
depends on how you envision a "racing mech"
there's tons of ways you could interpret that as a theme.
atmospheric flight?
hovering/wheeled?
sleek, stripped down, lightweight version of a combat suit?
tons of propellant tanks and thrusters for space?
focus on that, then select base kits accordingly. imo most 30mm kits are too blocky to be a base without significant modification.

Love Delpi but their colors tend to be more standardized compared to the official designs which sucks if you're autistic about that kind of thing. Their GM Sleggar decals were mostly good but they turned the brownish S symbol to a boring grey which I hated. There's these Artisan's Club decals that match the 3.0's pink and I've had good experiences with their decals in the past.

just paint the decal before u use it

What should I get between RG Epyon and Banshee? I like the look of the Banshee more but everyone is saying the Epyon is like one of the best gunpla ever. I can only afford one right now. I also thunk the Epyon weapon variety is kinda lame (only one sword!?)
>>
>>22596176
don't get the banshee unless you plan on painting the hideous molded gold
>>
>>22596176
whichever you like the look of more. I'd pick Banshee myself

Epyon is foolproof if you're newer to RG and building, whereas Banshee requires some thinking steps through seriously and genuinely before applying every step, because hamhanded retards keep breaking their shoulder and upper arm joints (This is the case for all RG Unicorns) by not paying careful enough attention to the manual during building. The gold is going to look buttfuck ugly, so you'll really want to paint it. If you aren't interested in painting and just snapfitting, Epyon. If you are, Banshee.

Newer RGs are absolutely incredible models. Any of the last, I don't know, 10 new sculpt RGs are dramatically better than any other that came before. Absolutely Epyon if you like it.

I see, are you getting him eventually?
I'm still indecisive on whether to get Kaiser or Zero in a few months, or just go with Getter Dragon to get some non-SD Getter joining the fray. Jeeg isn't horrible, as long as he doesn't eventually explode, he's fine. The worry about stressing the leg part stresses me out, but a careful person can probably avoid this problem

Die Fucker

Finished snapping ohana beargguy, really flimsy plastic for this kit and polycap connections. Even cutting nubs with a knife, the plastic already seemed to have stress marks at the gate connection. It’s cute and came with 2 other small figures but not the most satisfying build
