Just started this anime and so far(I'm on episode 06) it's amazing. The plot, the designs, the animation are nearly perfect. I hope I don't get disapointed later in the show.

I used to like Frontier a lot more than Delta but on a recent rewatch I found myself feeling the opposite. I actually rather liked Delta a good bit and realized a lot of the stuff /m/ complained about were grossly over exaggerated

A slap dash fix to a problem that stands out far worse in the moment than the problem it's supposed to solve, and wouldn't have existed if there was enough time and prep work to come up with the micromissile pod idea that would later appear in DYRL (which itself is honestly a bunch of "hey in hindsight maybe we should've done things this way" revisions strung together into an alternate storyline). I didn't really like the main trio in Plus at all and the drama between them just felt stupid after they revealed why they all drifted apart from each other. This is killer since Plus has less focus on the action, so it really needed to knock it out of the park when it came to the characters and drama. When I finished watching it I really couldn't understand what people saw in it and why it was so heavily praised. Also I'd prefer someone actually give a real response instead of just going "samefag!" or "spam post!" because I genuinely want to understand since maybe I'm missing something. I watched the OVAs instead of the movie, if that changes anything.

After rewatching Frontier and then starting 7 again, I had a revelation that I didn't see on previous watches.One thing you will notice when watching 7 is that it's the only Macross title that has a different direction for its score. Other than recap scenes, if music is being played it's either being performed by someone in the scene or a recording in-universe is playing. Otherwise, silence prevails. It gives you a lot of time to settle into the world of 7 that isn't afforded otherwise.Frontier and Delta, or rather any other Macross title, have scored sections that tell you how to feel. That's not a direct knock to these titles.As illiterate gaijin I have no idea if there are interviews mentioning this quirk of 7 directly but it subconsciously changes the whole feel of the show. And in the vast repetitiveness of the show this quirk makes it easy to immerse into the worldbuilding brought out by 7, rather than the mundane musings of an autist given control of a military robot (the least interesting character)
