Or "Feddies made me do it under threat of execution" made total sense in 0079. Titans are evil. It's painfully obvious. That should be all the motivation these characters need. They have more trouble figuring out their reason for fighting than Zero in Megaman X4.
In fact the characters with the only sensible reasoning in the show are the people the Titans/Federation Ludovico technique'd into becoming cyber newtypes. "Kill Kamille and the sky will stop falling." "Destroy the Mk II and you get your memories back." That makes more sense than whatever else is going on.When asylum patients make more sense than your supposedly 'sane' characters, then your show's writing is atrocious.
