You know what's the funniest thing about this semi-official concept of a Japanese stealth project?

From the description it follows that the Japanese spent a lot of time and effort collecting data on the Raptors from the Yukon from Shiranui II, hiding the wreckage of the Raptors after the Sagiri mutiny, hiding Bridges with his Shiranui III + various machinations with Boeing for the sake of information about the F-23 and finally made their prototype... Which turned out to be not particularly needed due to the availability of the Pacific Eagle/F-15SEJ Gekko... From the mass use of which they still refused due to the decision of Koubuin Yuuhi to adopt the Shiranui 2 and (according to the logs) to direct the remaining resources to re-equipping the Fubuki into an attack aircraft model and updating the Zuikaku.

The result, a lot of time and resources were spent on an unnecessary model in a hodgepodge of alterations and updates of a bunch of imperial TSFs.

>"Fikatsia" sounds like an amalgation of Anas>tasia< with something that start with an F...
Hardly. Most likely, these idiot authors simply poked at a random set of keys, just so that it would sound non-Japanese and at least somehow differ from standard Western names like "Felicia"... And, although it does not reach "Fecalia" and if you want you can hear "Acacia", but what prevented these assholes from simply looking at a dictionary of names and choosing something like a real Russian female name "Fekla"?

>>22872316
Well, well, the descendants of the Nazi allies decided to become friends? And they are still saying something about Russia? Karma is a tricky thing, it’s no wonder they died.

>>22872350
What I mean is that "landing BETA in Africa" would have avoided all the political crap with the USSR and the Eastern Bloc... If it was really necessary to organize an "alien threat" for Japan, then it would have been possible to organize several isolated landing zones for regional battles - like Shikoku for Japan, for example.

>>22872362
Are you talking about the final act and the magnificent last flight of the MiGs in a march of explosions? It is certainly beautiful and partly smooths out the impression, but it does not cancel out the anti-Russian lies about "oppressed" national minorities or the nonsense from the immoral esper vivisection program.

>>22873982
>he goes on to use patriotism/history as an example. to accept your countries history as it is, bad and good. not to just take somebody elses values. come to your own conclusion and go forward.
What? If he really followed his own advice, the entire Shiranui/Fubuki/Takemikazuchi line should never have existed, because Japan never had any aircraft prototypes. Not to mention that these "history-loving" guys shouldn't have distorted the memory of East Germany and slandered the USSR.

Who knows. The Empire is currently, one might say, overloaded with TSF models of unclear role.

1) F-4, old and ineffective from the start (it is unclear why Japan did not receive licensed production of F-5) is available in the Gekeshit and Zuikaku modifications, which are seriously different, and the "guard" also received an additional update in Regenerative. Already 3 + a new update program for F-4 promoted by the USA, can add 4th.
2) F-15 J in some quantity + its stealth version of 12 pieces
3) Shiranui in several versions + Shiranui 2, as well as its monkey version Fubuki in training and assault versions
4) Takemikazuchi in several models with different specifications + individual experimental modifications
5) "Aiyu-Mayu Alternative" should we count?
In any case, it's a nightmare for suppliers and repairmen.
In general, there is almost no real connection with the history of fighter construction in Japan, and it is unclear what the hell they need those that exist. Again, Regenerative promotes the idea that in the war with BETA after Ouka, humans had to reactivate the production of old and simple TSFs, updating them in the process, rather than invent something new.

Exogularity and the related ending of the manga imply the presence of interhuman wars, but there, apparently, the emphasis was on the UN TSF, like, joint developments. And where do you order these "new" 4th generation models to be shoved?

There were several cases of Azeri AN-2 biplanes used to hit ground targets in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in 2020. They converted them into drones in order to bait enemy SAM sites. Once the AN-2 got pinged by AA radar, the Azeris would send missile /drones to the revealed SAM site

In continuation of the semi-canonical 3rd generation TSF with stealth capabilities, let's consider this prototype of the MiG.

Unfortunately, nothing really interesting or special. The standard Muv-Luv situation with "incompetent Russians who can't do anything" - the MiG design bureau suffered a virtual failure with its specialized models and, having lost the competition for the new main TSF of the Union to Su, went on a rampage. MiG tried to create an advanced model based on a completely new concept of "stealth" and even, following the "example" of Sufoni, secretly made a deal with Northrock - the result was the MiG 1.44, a quasi-stealth with high maneuverability. The design features of this TSF, in addition to the specific shape of the hull, are engine blocks with two nozzles each.

Its fate is... a little strange. This model lost miserably to the Su-47, with its bet on esper technology. ...It is possible that the success of the Su series (judging by the descriptions of the 27/37 that turned out to be not much better than the MiG-29, there is more likely "yet another" failure of the Reds) as such was initially connected with the close cooperation of two translation equipment programs with the intention of creating an esper-TSF?.. However, the MiG 1.44 gave the Soviets a certain experience and knowledge of stealth and other advanced technologies, and also gave a technological reserve for the MiG-29. In addition, the Chinese became interested in it...
>>

195 KB

>>22885112
In general, it is clear that the Japanese do not like the Chinese almost more than the Russians, so the situation with the Chinese stealth TSF is almost uneducated...

In short, the Third United Front was quite happy with a combination of copies of communist-capitalist models in a high-low mix for its operations on the Continent, but then the Bao-Feng Test Flight in their J-10X on the Yukon during the Blue Flag exercises happened. "We want our Raptors too!" the Chinese thought and decided to make their own 3rd generation TSF with mahjong and pioneers...

The result was... nothing. The nationalists and communists quarreled over literally everything, but then everyone remembered Cui Yifei, who had a Taiwanese-Chinese mixed origin (I don't know if TE was banned in China, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was because of the "outrageous" speeches about Taiwan as a "country"), and she remembered the Soviet MiG 1.44 program, which had just recently been banned. The trick of the Chinese league was that this model, in fact, had a mixed Soviet-US technology at its core, which meant that the Chinese would not have to bother with building a "technological balance" between the blocs. The data from the Russians was obtained, of course, secretly, and the joint research enterprise of the Front under the leadership of Cui Yifei began developing a Chinese version of the MiG 1.44, which eventually became the J-20. How successful this TSF turned out to be is not exactly known.
>>
>>22885112
An interesting point with the semi-canonical description of the PAK-FA is the actual "failure" of the Infinity squad in its sabotage operation against Soviet laboratories for the study of G-elements. More precisely, the Reds not only observed the Raptors' performance at the Blue Flag, but also "secretly conducted a study of the Rastor materials obtained in the Yukon."

Roughly speaking, after watching the Washington show-offs at the exercises and getting a blow in the back from the Yankees during their sabotage at the "incident", the Russians decided to insure themselves for the post-war future and prepare their own stealth TSF. The order was received by Sufoni, who did not "reinvent the wheel" and took the Su-47 as a basis, redesigning its hull for stealth capabilities. Sufoni were able to not only achieve their goal, but also successfully added a supercruise mode and an active stealth system to their new model.

It is not yet clear whether it will be comparable to the F-22 or F-35.

With every moment I spend considering my opinions on the Muv-Luv series, I come to a realisation; Alternative is the worst part of the main trilogy. Extra is the most tightly written and enjoyable entry with not a dull moment, aside from the poorly written sex scenes but that is a criticism I can level at the entire trilogy. Unlimited is excellent worldbuilding, truly building up the BETA as an undefeatable enemy and painting a bleak portrait of the new universe. The ending of Unlimited is beautiful and poignant, a far better ending than what was to come.
Alternative is bloated and repetitive. I cannot begin to recall how irritating the post-Extraverse return section is. It feels as if whenever Takeru learns something new he has to tell at least three different people all about it, saying essentially the same thing over and over without the other characters adding anything new in their conversations. The plot only gets more interesting during the Yokohama defence and then Operation Cherry Blossom is great. The coup arc as well grows bloated by the end, despite how engaging it is due to it being the first major divergence in the timeline and being uncharted territory for the reader. For all the hate lacrosse arc gets from the general readership, it was never as bloated and dull as the coup arc's second half.
Honestly, if CHOMP and the Extraverse arc weren't so well-executed, Alternative would be easy to file away into the trash, even with the later redeeming features.

>>22880739
>do you suppose nations around the world instantaneously replace all of their old models or don't upgrade them at all
The deployment date of Gekeshit is a year later than that of the F-5. And the Freedom Fighter is much better than the F-4, which has been proven directly in real battles. So why the hell would the Japanese adapt the crappy F-4 if they don't need to fight the BETA "right now" and the Imperials can afford to choose?
The reference to the fact that this is a "tribute" to the real exploitation of the Phantom in "our" Japan is complete crap, because Koku and Co. show no respect for the history of aviation in TSF in principle.
The problem with the Japanese Empire is that the development of the TSF there is jerky and sideways, collecting too many models of different generations and different combat philosophies, which only complicates the situation. Kouki's attempt to suck up Japanese nationalism and make purely Japanese TSFs (while simultaneously making the USSR look like a worthless manufacturer) seriously spoils the whole impression of the franchise - it would have been better if he had simply remade the Japanese TSF scale based on Tokyo's IRL borrowing of fighters from the USA (Patlabor came up with a very nice F-15J Kai).

>>22880744
>you also still don't acknowledge any counterargument to the counterfactual aircraft bullshit
If you're too lazy to read additional materials, then at least read the Trivia in the TSF descriptions on the Wiki and all your counterarguments (what are they, by the way?) regarding some ephemeral respect of Kouki and Co. for the aviation as prototypes of the TSF can be thrown in the trash.

By the way, guys, you are so rude and redneck. Do you even know how to speak in normal language or just scream and swear?

Upset that Russia buried all Polish dreams of greatness? Cry some more Polack.

>>22882832
Judging by the characters, the events cannot be set too far in the future, but the NSF in the background is clearly, so to speak, "international". Which is kind of strange, because where did such a development come from and why did the leading manufacturing countries allow their TSFs to be replaced with these?

>>22884293
By the way, when Takeru dies, will the entire TDA collapse? Or was it planned to somehow combine TDA with the Alternative? Or was the idea in general in a multiverse with really working spatial transitions?

>>22885143
>knowing its going to turn into full gundam
Kouki and Co. have backed themselves into a corner, creating a measure of undivided American domination for 2001 with Washington's competitors devoured by BETA... Such a geopolitical projection is generally extremely difficult to develop adequately and plausibly, and in Exogularity with the date of the 2040s there is already a United Earth that has passed and a victory over BETA and human wars after that. In short, these guys will have to somehow sensibly explain how the USA turned from an absolute hegemon into, at best, one of the countries of the Alliance.

The same nonsense with the new TSFs, because the remnants of the Soviet Union and the Chinese communists simply do not have their own resources and capabilities for large-scale production of such advanced models even if they manage to develop them, not to mention the lack of personnel (although, purely theoretically, the Russians can solve this problem with cloning (in principle, this will even allow, if necessary, to return young versions of old characters ... with silver hair).

Again, all the above-listed semi-canonical descriptions of stealth TSF directly point to the theft of technology as the only source of innovation, which, as it were, looks extremely stupid and rude in relation to other countries.

Most likely will loop back again... or its the last loop that sends him to alternative. Unless killing Sumika's brain in JFK Hive made it separate timeline since Kouki made a point that if Takeru dies then it loops back and if it doesn't then its likely he's still alive somewhere in some sort, likely a brain in a jar

>U ONLY LIKE LE GURO!!!
What an idiotic response. I don't particularly like gore, and especially not the image of CHOMP. It's extremely disturbing, actually, and not something I can stomach looking at for very long. I said that CHOMP was the best part of Alternative because, well, it is. It's the payoff of 20 hours of Unli and the beginning of Alt establishing the BETA as a threat, and they managed to pull it off so suddenly. The BETA are just a vague concept and you can only abstractly think about their effects on humanity until CHOMP happens, even the interrupted training mission didn't prepare you for the true horror of the BETA. In addition, it perfectly portrays PTSD during the Extraverse segment when you get subtle but noticable flashbacks to CHOMP.
Episode 7 is easily the best part of Alternative and only a complete dunce would disagree, nothing comes close to the utter despair that arc inflicts upon both the characters and the reader. Plus, there's none of the bloat or repetition of the other arcs. It's tightly paced and gripping until the very end. The only reason why it took me any significant time to finish is because I closed the game and went to uninstall it after CHOMP is because Marimo is my waifu and I was unironically horrified beyond words, even though I knew what CHOMP was I didn't know who it happened to or when it appeared in the story, the image just stuck with me because of how disturbing it is.
>>
I think if you have a story about humanity on the backfoot and solve it, you can't really progress from that state without resetting it to zero or making it into something that is entirely different. In muv-luv's case it could at least focus on human politics in the aftermath but the weight of the BETA being turned near harmless makes the escalation of human conflict escalation feel less dangerous. IMO, it's better if they just fill in the blanks with more early timeline content like SM or whatever the new jeetland game is supposed to be. Or finish TDA. An example of a series this also happened to would be Halo. Halo 3 concluded the Covenant war and everything Halo Studios (Deadname: 343 Industries) put out afterwards, including expanded universe content, has been panned because none of the stories have the same weight/pressure/stakes behind them. They all focus on the big picture galaxy-wide forerunner stuff rather than that being part of the backdrop for humanity's fight for survival.

TDA is very good, but too limited. I mean, there are very few people and production facilities, an acute shortage of resources and wild wear and tear of equipment + shitty landscape and salt storms.
If BETA seriously increases its numbers and produces new stamps, Tatsunami and his comrades are practically doomed - there, in general, a miracle is really needed there.

>>22886254
>Anons, i think that you guys are overthinking too much.
You are right, of course, but it is still interesting to find out how a mecha universe can or could develop.

For ML, the trilogy became the pinnacle and, in a way, a dead end, since TE and Schwarzesmarken, although they expanded the TSF model range, turned out to be too contradictory in terms of the relationship between lore and logic. TDA turned out to be an excellent replacement and a parallel timeline, but it is too "small" and vulnerable. The subsequent concepts have not yet (?) been fully realized.

These stealth models were supposedly created by Kouki himself, but they were not canonically integrated into the world of the Alternative, so here we can speculate a little... Although, in my opinion, the geopolitical picture for 2001 does not allow their appearance.

Related to resentment towards Russia? It's funny in its own way, but in the context of a VN about Imperial Japan it's a bit far-fetched.

In theory, a good author should be above this, but the LN scriptwriters clearly go all out when it comes to the USSR and the Warsaw Pact. I wonder if it was ever explained why Kouki and Co. were so upset by Japan's neighbors?

It is often argued that Kouki and Co. treat all countries "equally" and that all countries in ML are shitty in their own way, but the examples of "evil and gloomy" East Germany and the Soviet Union directly indicate the true position of the authors - it is easier for them to assign someone to the role of an evil villain than to really bother with a plausible world building.

Because fighter aircraft are the apex predator of war, they incorporate technology from many fields, and if a new technology is developed it too will be crammed into the next generation of aircraft. Because of this, military aircraft are exponentially expensive to develop and the world kind of hit a brick wall decades ago with the F-22 still being the best and the latest next-gen fighters from around the world still being a compromise beneath it. So it's pretty normal that weapons development would kind of stop in muv-luv as well.
The F-4 is my favorite craft, it's the one I'd want to pilot if I was isekai'd to deathworld. It has a major advantage which isn't touched on pretty much anywhere but matter-of-factly represented in Faraway Dawn, which is its thick armor gives you a much higher chance of surviving if you get grappled by tank-class. If your only chance of surviving is the rookie pilot next to you unloading with their gun on you, the F-4's the only craft that stands a chance. Besides that, old and numerous weapons have a quality of their own in the training soldiers have with them and the culture rookies can draw from -part of the reason why despite many attempts to develop a new modern rifle every major nation has decided to stick with the same guns they were using just after WW2.
Speaking of arrested development I heard the BETA weren't supposed to be codified into the classes we see, like there were implicitly other strains that just didn't get put in the VNs, but I can't remember where. I think I'd have a hard time getting invested in TSFs that are more powerful than the shiranui and takemikazuchi unless the BETA pulled another rabbit out of their hat.

This is literally just wrong, though? He's right otherwise.
>>
>>22889913
Seems like a TSF sort of fills the same role as a helicopter in my mind; not as fast as a jet but nimble, and they have some amount of armor. I think they'd be able to defeat tanks and other armored infantry unsupported but a strike fighter would make short work of them, although the same is true of helicopters of course. However TSFs have got to be ungodly expensive compared to either so that could make them a very specialized unit on a post beta battlefield.
>>
>>22889913
Depends on your definitions for both of those terms.

>fire power
Do you define fire power by volume, caliber, or range? Does a vehicle with a single 155mm howitzer have more firepower than a vehicle that can launch GMLR? The GMLRS has more range, has a greater area of AOE, has more explosives in total but can't penetrate a bunker as effectively. It depends on application.

>mobility
TSF would be hyper mobile in a smaller area but suffer doing long range stuff. A fighter jet can physically maneuver at greater speeds, altitudes. A lot of weapons can't be deployed properly at lower altitudes. Also consider how fighter jets have simpler maintenance, You can launch a fighter from Hawaii, change the tires in Guam and get an ariel refuel over Vietnam before bombing China. A fighter can carry large stuff like glide bombs or cruise missiles, a TSF cannot. I like to think of mobility as a holistic thing rather than "does x go faster than Y in z" Can you transport the maintenance crew and equipment fast? How much infrastructure do you need to support sorties? How much space do you need to service them?

Your mobility suffers if you can't sustain long distance stuff. However nobody would argue that a fighter is more mobile than a TSF fighting in some subterranean bunker

Sure, a TSF probably doesn't have the same sort of penetration that a tank's cannon does, but TSFs are also loaded with a lot of other ordnance similar to helicopters, like >>22889943 mentions. So it doesn't really make sense as a basis for comparison. I had taken mobility to mean agility, but I can see the other meaning, now.

>You know except for when Imperial Japan fought with Imperial Russia
You misinterpreted what I wrote. It's not about the number of conflicts between Russians and Japanese, but about the fact that the Finnish and Japanese women, discussing their countries, almost first of all mentioned the conflict with Russia. It turns out that their countries have NOTHING ELSE worth discussing? That's bad, if so.

>>22887332
Then not only the Finns, even many representatives of the opposition and even groups of citizens from among the Russians themselves rejoiced at the victories of the Japanese... The government of Nicholas II had seriously screwed up in many ways by that time and had lost the support of the population... A very shameful moment in the history of my country.

>Honestly, going be screenshots alone, it might actually not go so bad... but still man
Well, there are no exact figures as far as I know, but humanity in TDA seems to be on the verge of technological decline and degradation simply because too many specialists and capacities have been lost. "Seattle" is unlikely to be able to support high-tech production for a long time, and collecting resources and remnants of technology from the surrounding areas is not able to help close all the gaps. Not to mention that humans can no longer support space infrastructure and the breakthrough of a new hive from the Moon is already a matter of time, not probability.
Something like a "miracle" is really needed there.

>>22888117
Su-37UB. Soviet TSF, which was a development of the Su-27, in a modification for esper pilots.
The Yankees sarcastically call the Su series "Soviet F-14s", which, given the specifics of the descriptions of the Russian TSF in the ML as "stolen technology from the West", is most likely true.

>>22888427
>but also make half of TE so redundant because the XM3's OS basically says fuck you to all the shit they do.
The new OS has significantly simplified and improved the management of the TSF, but in TE the problem was more in the exchange of technologies and the combination of design philosophies... as well as the confrontation between manufacturers and states.
Roughly speaking, the Active Eagle is very fast and maneuverable, but it eats up a huge amount of fuel and is very limited in operating time + it does not have additional weapons. Considering that the goal of the Yukon project is to improve the TSF to combat BETA, the presence of a model like the Active looks strange.
On the other hand, the Su37UB was developed as an anti-BETA model, but because of the psionic component, the Soviets will not share their developments.
As a result, it turns out to be some kind of crap, not "international cooperation".
>>
>>22889361
In general, not everything is so bad. The Europeans developed mobile artillery tactics and heavy guns for the TSF, the Japanese presented the over-the-horizon cannon and railgun, the Russians developed the esper-TSF. Updating old models with new technologies allowed them to significantly improve their capabilities. Michiru mentioned the development of beam weapons for the TSF - so this combat equipment was slowly developing.
Of course, there are some misunderstandings. For example, why weren't TSF-style "grenade launchers" developed for the S-11, because this could have become an acceptable replacement for tactical nukes and a good tool for clearing areas of BETA?
>>22889846
Still, I disagree. The main reason for the quick replacement of these oafs with F-5 was the lack of maneuverability. The main thing for the TSF and its pilot is the ability to freely attack the BETA from any direction and choose the distance of this battle yourself. Many deaths in ML and TDA are due to the fact that the Aeshi stuck in one place for too long and/or lost the ability to maneuver. If the BETA gets to the TSF, then the armor will not help much, it is better to have the ability to actively maneuver and retreat.
>>22889910
>>22889913
>>22889943
Many probably remember the tank ambush on the Stasi TSF in Schwarzesmarken? There are a couple of nuances.
Over 30 years, many countries have lost their skills in producing fighters of classical aviation and the threat from the sky may be somewhat exaggerated. As for helicopters and tanks + MLRS, the TSF can replace them all and with much greater efficiency. Not to mention the significant psychological effect of the appearance of fast "steel giants" on the battlefield.
I believe that the guys who invested money in the F-22 and Su-47, for example, understand more than Vincent and the TSF will be significant even after the war with BETA. Again, Exogularity shows that in the 2040s, the TSF still serves as a powerful weapon of humanity.

Rather, our own leadership surrendered the country to the enemy in exchange for promises. And you, morons, were unable to take advantage of your victory. >The main thing for the TSF and its pilot is the ability to freely attack the BETA from any direction and choose the distance of this battle yourself
That's an awfully american way of looking at it Ivan. Sooner or later you have to engage the BETA at melee range, and the primary cause of death is that the best way to gain experience is the best way to die. TSFs that are easy to control and forgive mistakes are just as important as the high-end fighters. It's a VN in the end and there's not enough depiction to draw conclusions, I just think a TSF that can stand up to friendly fire is more useful considering most pilots die to the tank class.

the pilot training is more complex than helicopters and jet fighters. not everybody could be trained, let alone master the controls of TSFs. With fewer and fewer "candidates" as time passes, you better get a simple machines (as in , a drastic change), or those robots with jets strapped on their asses are not going anywhere...

>3 to 5 shots, after that, its just a piece of metal that can explode in your face
But, dont get me wrong. ITS A GOOD CONCEPT.
the metodology (multi-stage explosions) and use (1200mm caliber is INSANE) is the problem
Kouki got inspired by this shit (probably)

>the Russians developed the esper-TSF
UUHHHHHH...

>If the BETA gets to the TSF, then the armor will not help much, it is better to have the ability to actively maneuver and retreat.
See, thats the inherent problem with the TSFs.
A "Heavy Tank" (at least, 2 or 3 times bigger, or that cant get opened by Tank Class.) could run over the smaller strains, and if those "hop in" the hull or the turret, a nearby tank with its weapons could "spray on" or "bug off" , like what tank crews did in WW2.
You CANT do that with TSFs , as it could destroy the machine or worse.

>For example, why weren't TSF-style "grenade launchers" developed for the S-11
Ask your military guys how much costs a thermobaric bomb...

even if we cant calculate how much TSFs were built or in service, all indicates that it was not possible to make en masse. Only those were tasked with hive infiltration got that red button.

It's a common misunderstanding that the A-10 can destroy an MBT with its gun, they use missiles for that, but there's also different degrees of damage with vehicles compared to squishy humans, for instance an A-10 will sometimes gun a tank because they might get lucky and hit something delicate. You might destroy your comrade's TSF but leave them safe inside with a chance to bail out.. But yeah, I was thinking a special ammunition for cleaning off tank-class is an unexplored concept that ought to be effective.
The way I see it, tanks are perfectly capable of kiting and containing BETA, but the ayys will just build up until saturation and you can't survive that by running. So a TSF's speed is more for improving their close-range effectiveness. At least in the games, the game-breaking strategy is to have a few elite pilots in high-end crafts take a forward defensible position and have a bunch of low-end TSFs back them up.

when the A-10 entered in service, most of the tanks were second generation, with some of them having thinner armor compared to the rest of MBTs.
now, from 3rd gen of MBTs onwards, that gun got obsolete. but still can wreck up other vehicles in a uncontested air space.

Now, back to the TSFs...
some 36mm explosive ammo will trash their armor in one sweep in the best scenario. (the F-4s, for example)

there is someone (or multiple) people at Valve abusing their position to play content cop specifically against specific types of Japanese games

Why though? Its not the first time I've heard this conspiracy theory. On average Japanese games score lower with reviewers like IGN. But what can he do without Yuuko-sensei? No matter how good a pilot he is, it's not enough.
Bridges, for example, managed to become a hero against the laser fort because he had the support of the esper girls in his kamikaze attack.
There's nothing in TDA that could surpass the standard level of technology, aka "BETA will eat you up as soon as their numbers allow it."

>>22890944
They work to preserve and revive Japan in a Machiavellian style. Not that they are good guys, but in TDA it is more useful to be a realist. Takeru suffers from "the hell of his life" - PTSD + lousy reality, and in addition to being a martyr, he works as a liquidator.

>I just think a TSF that can stand up to friendly fire is more useful considering most pilots die to the tank class.

> I just think a TSF that can stand up to friendly fire is more useful
A damaged TSF is practically a dead man, so if you want to save the pilot, it is best to improve the ejection and pilot rescue systems.

Again, let me remind you that armored TSFs like the F-4 were considered ineffective and all subsequent models, except for highly specialized ones, relied on mobility.

>But, dont get me wrong. ITS A GOOD CONCEPT.
It can be further improved, especially since it has shown results in at least one of the timelines. In addition, it is extremely convenient to knock down large BETA strains from such a thing.

>it behaves like a ray weapon
A rate of fire that killed several thousand BETAs with one burst. And in TDA, a couple of these really helped with clearing out the hive. So what's wrong?

>UUHHHHHH...
One TSF with esper pilots easily destroyed 1500 different BETA strains in one battle. If you can increase the characteristics of the machine by "enhancing" the pilot, then why not?

>A "Heavy Tank" (at least, 2 or 3 times bigger, or that cant get opened by Tank Class.) could run over the smaller strains
Are you a tankophile or something? Just watch the episode of TE about Kamchatka tanks against BETA and please don't write any more nonsense.

>You CANT do that with TSFs
The TSF doesn't need this, because they either have carbon blades on their armor, or active armor blocks, or swords/axes/chainsaws, or they're already considered dead TSF.

>Ask your military guys how much costs a thermobaric bomb...
The cost of defeat from BETA is, in any case, many times higher.

>Takamura´s Leader had one of those
This arc about the fall of the Capital put the Japanese Imperial Guard in such a bad light that even TSFIA about Maya and Ikaruga with their heroic breakthroughs and stoic fights can't save Japan's "best fighters" from shame.

>>22893267
>With the "Super Carbon" of that universe
But first the fighter needs to be developed, and that's no easy task. Only a few IRL countries are capable of fully ensuring the creation of such aircraft from drawings to the embodiment in metal - in ML, with the extremely limited production base of many countries already loaded with TSF, developing jet fighters "for the future" is a dubious undertaking. It will most likely be TSF against TSF (Raptor was development in the form of a mecha).

How about TSF-sized automatic grenade launchers with shrapnel ammo against the smaller BETAs? Or just up-caliber TSF assault rifles and give them frag ammo?

>>22893941
>Now, back to the TSFs...
Well, considering that the main enemy of the TSF is large biological objects, then, in theory, 36mm shells for them should not have armor-piercing properties in the first place, but rather be explosive or deformable bullets?

>>22895451
If you have a deficiency of "Nippon Damashi" then no way.

>>22895874
This is a direct illustration of the theme of "inflated expectations".

>>22895875
Space versions of TSF are interesting, of course, but...

First, why? Orbital stations shoot down BETA landings on Earth, not TSF.

Second, what is that space elevator in the background? As far as I remember, space fleets in ML are based on spaceplanes and cope well with the role of Earth-Orbit delivery.

So, another parallel universe or a new retcon? By the way, has anyone been able to figure out what region is there on the surface of the Earth, under the clouds?

The Yankee "strategy" is "shoot" and that's it. Almost all of their TSFs have no cutting edges on their armor and are not equipped with normal melee weapons other than knives. And the ammo tends to run out... Equipping the TSF with equipment for combat at all ranges is the key to increasing the combat effectiveness and survivability of pilots. That's why I like the Soviet MiG-29s the most, because they can fire from 4 barrels and cut BETA with 4 limbs + S-11. (They are also good at exterminating rebels.)

In the picture is a MiG-35.

Alright that was an attempted wind down, but I guess you could interpret it that way.
The F4 started as a lunar combat TSF where low gravity would change its handling and stray bullets/shrapnel in a vacuum would be a hazard. Its bad reputation has to do with the early misunderstandings of how a terrestrial TSF should fight eg weak actuators and lack of laser-resistant material. But the F4 was the first TSF and thus the most industrialized; historically the best wartime designs have fulfilled bare minimum viability while being produced in eye-watering numbers, such as the Ilyushin Il-2 which occupied the germans and gave the red army an air presence despite being ineffective.
That said the old F4 and the new F4 are different, said to be on the level of 2.5gen fighters with upgraded actuators and engines. Realistically the TSFs are all carrying half their weight in ammo so the F4's armor alone wouldn't make that much difference.
The fastest TSFs are depicted as being the best at holding their ground at melee range, with Tsukuyomi being able to fight indefinitely while surrounded and not suffer even wear and tear, but those craft are also said to be much harder to pilot, moreso not to stress the airframe too much, and having high maintenance costs. While the fubuki and F4 are said to be easy to pilot with the skilled graduating to the shiranui or F15 respectively.
Pilots are frequently depicted dragging down their comrades the second a tank class climbs on one by panicking, refusing to bail out, and shooting their allies in desperation while their allies stop fighting to try and peel of the tank class with a knife. In the games, the right thing to do is just shoot anyone grappled with 36mm, and the F4 tends to suffer fewer casualties when that happens, as well as surviving lasers while a flat-footed shiranui evaporates.
My point is objecting to your idea of discarding useful material, and the F4 having desirable qualities for new pilots and the high-low mix.

Tanks are simpler machines compared to TSFs, and considering the numbers needed to sustain a frontline , an EFFECTIVE land force not only could hold the ground, it can push to the hives , for the TSFs to do its job.

>Just watch the episode of TE about Kamchatka tanks against BETA
Sending MBTs to "charge" (to a beachhead) against mass numbers is the most stupid thing ANYONE could do.
in a normal land scenario (not the case of Gulag Archipielago) First line would be SPAAGs and IFVs, shredding any small strains that comes.
Second line are MBTs that will intercept mid strains that are armored , ie. Destroyer and Grapplers.

Soviet/Russian tank doctrine in Cold War was using it with helicopters as a main force of assault. But, with Laser classes denying use of anything aerial, A T-62-72-80-90 are in the worse case scenario (under-armored, under-gunned, and over-runned when trying to retreat)
Sending those tin cans WITHOUT any support is awf- , i mean, the very thing BLYATmans would do.

with all that said, by the moment the chinkoid army was FUBAR (since 1974), the soviet would realize they are in BIG trouble and had changed DRASTICALLY their doctrine.

TL;DR= if they wanted more survival rates, with 100-120 km/h they could outrun ANY BETA that could pursue them(Destroyers could reach 170, but not for too long). only Lasers could do any harm.
