Just finished watching this, what a rideAlso VOTOMS thread I guess
>>22902657Definitely Kummen. It was like one long AT battle which I felt was a little lacking in the UoodoAnd I think overall Rochina was my favorite character with all his smugness and scheming
Not the OP but are any of the OVAs or spin offs worth watching?
>>22902682None of them.
>>22902655I wasn't expecting that ending, also I realized many other series took inspiration from it, like Wisemon for Digimon being based on Wisemon.
>>22902683>>22902685
so, whats left too be discussed. we've had a billion trillion threads about this anime and they always fall into the same handfull of conversational topics. is there anything new here?
>>22902682most of them are alrightpick up mellowlink if you're tired of chirico and don't mind another old animepick up case; irvine if you're tired of chirico and really like code geassif you don't fall into either of those categories you're kinda fucked cause the other stuff is either untranslated or festooned with too much chirico
>>22903152All Votoms anime are translated since 2011. OP don't listen to /m/orons, Votoms OVA are masterpieces except for Phantom Arc.
>>22903150We can discuss about why AT is so fucking weak
>>22903184they're disposable and powered by blue sci-fi gasoline
>>22903184>Didn't pay attentionRinse and repeat.
>>22903150>is there anything new here?Yeah, you.
>>22903184>Good optics with wide angle, zoom, and thermal>Decent mobility with at least 52 km/h at full combat load and 83 km/h when empty.>Lots of firepower with 30mm cannon as standard and plenty of mounts for optional weapons. They're basically made for skirmishing at long range. Spot the enemy before they spot you, hit them hard, and then pull back before they counter attack. Of course, Scopedogs never get used like that so they die in droves.
>>22902655Patiently waiting for the bandai expansion packs so I can make Brutishdog...
>>22902682The prequels and Mellowlink. Don't watch any of the sequel OVAs unless you hate yourself.
Sucked to see Chirico getting cucked and I was hoping for a little more characterization of his red shoulder buddies but I thought The Last Red Shoulder was pretty good
I like the Beetle. It is a cool AT
I didnt like the final arc too much. I thought it was stupid and anticlimactic that Chirico was just pretending the whole time
>>22906127I mean it was very, very, VERY obvious. What, you thought he was just gonna go along with the guy who literally made him into a cursed being who's entire existence has been endless suffering? Actually I thought it was great how far they took the "bluff".
>>22905529for me its Turtles
>>22906734I thought it was enjoyable to see him put on the mask of an "ubermensch" while enduring what must've been immensely emotional painful to him in seemingly betraying his friends. Stuff like shooting at Fiana, etc.Personally I just really like when Takahashi goes cosmic. He manages to do it in a way that feels like a fever dream while still keeping the tension of the plot.
>>22905529I love ATs
>>22906708>What, you thought he was just gonna go along with the guy who literally made him into a cursed being who's entire existence has been endless suffering?Possibly, yeah. He'd seemed pretty checked out after the ship and the only time he was sentimental was when Fyana was involved. Not overly likely, but not impossible.
>>22904182What?
>>22903184
>>22903583Really? I heard the opposite that the prequel OVAs are the ones to avoid
>>22902657The sounds of the motors speeding up and slowing down, never grew tired of that.
>>22902655Interesting.
>>22907741I don't know, for some reason I thought the last red shoulder was going to be from the perspective of Murza so it was a surprise how fast they all died. And then you know wiseman made Chiricho wake up at just the moment to see Fyana kissing the guy who just tried to kill him
>>22903150Do you think the gay twins ever experimented with each other or explored others bodies?
>>22908107I generally enjoyed all the prequels. They flesh out Chirico's character more, and I thought Pailsen Files was really entertaining despite its shitty CGI animation. I don't recommend the sequels mainly because they ruin a perfect ending for no real reason, and they introduce dumb retcons to even justify their existence. If you absolutely have to watch the sequels though, just watch everything except Phantom Arc. Phantom Arc is god awful, and Alone Again is basically what Phantom Arc should of been anyway.
Are there any good Votoms fan stories?I find the setting fantastic.
>>22902675
>>22902682You must watch Mellowlink.You must!
>>22911791Alright, I'll do it.
>>22916884It has some great ATs.
Hey, I know Votoms has had more than a few toy lines in recent years. Does one stand out from the crowd? Any come with figures?
>>22918925Bandai just came out with some in the bandai spirits hi metal R line. Threezero also just started dropping some pretty good figures and there was a small line called 35max that died a while back but the figures are pretty good
>>22911684You're asking if fan fiction is good or not.
>>22903328So they're like Technicals?
Following release order (and avoiding the sequels like >>22903583 recommends) Should I watch Mellowlink or Palsen Files next? Just finished up origin of ambition
>>22920119You're on /m/, so we all know you hate yourself. Just watch them. They do provide the only wrinkle to release order ever. Watch Alone Again before Phantom Arc. The jump between Shinning Heresy and Phantom Arc was so much they had to make Alone Again to spackle over the holes later. So just watch it between the two.
>>22919190Pretty much.
>>22903328To be fair we rarely see the big battles the war was known for. We see weird post war dipshit usage.
>>22919190
>>22919190Uh...yeah. I guess they're basically Technicals if you ignore the whole "Made for Combat" bit. >>22920159We do see Scopedogs being used in the prequels in ways you really couldn't use any tank or helicopter.
>>22903184>can be taken out by some dude on foot with an anti tank rifle.>implying.
>>22903184>why is cannon fodder weak
>>22921468That's really not helping you case. What kinda giant robot takes multiple shots to kill an unmoving, unarmored human?
>>22925064Decepticons?
>>22921468Man I don't remember Mellowlink being anywhere near as graphic, the only thing I remember was the weak honky tonk jazz score and the train episode.
What modifications or additions would you make to a scopedog?
>>22921468It's a shame that even with a different director the action was still "action movie stand and spray your bullet hose" style.
>>22905529
>>22926401Racist graffiti.
These 2 were so fun.
>>22929612Beetle my beloved
>>22903184Yeah, I always found it weird how in a setting where people have mastered interstellar travel they're using things that aren't that much more advanced than modern military vehicles. Is it like Battletech where all the major powers have agreements on how powerful weapons can be because they got tired of all their planets getting blown up?
>>22921468I cannot think of a single tactical reason why getting out of the trench was a good idea.
>>22932760Please write the whole show for us.
>>22933048He went real quiet after this.
>~museru~
>>22932405There's three people in there.
>>22948769Maybe he didn't like one of them.
>>22932405so were they apart of god's plan or were they always just stupidly lucky to be in the right place at the right time?
>>22926401A tiger chest.
>>22926401bigger autocannon, like a semiauto rifle
>>22958188Like the Order Buckler's rifle?
>>22932763he was a retarded noob
>>22932405How old is Gotho supposed to be?
>>22963475In his 40s or 50s I'd assume
>>22963567rare footage of anime old man actually being somewhat old
>>22921468How are these robots so bad at killing unarmored humans that are standing completely still what the fuck?
