Are monoeyes actually horrible because it's a moving part? What made it special that even the Sinanju still used it and wasn't phased out into late UC?And what's the deal with some made to move both axis
>>22909082monoeyes are great because they look cool

>>22909082The funny thing about real-life mono-eyes is some are actually many lenses together. Most military drones have their cameras and other sensors packed into a rotating globular module, which frequently resembles a single, large, unnatural-looking eye. There can be as many as five actual camera lenses, but that just makes it look like a multifaceted eye.
>>22909102Oh you're right, real cameras used for combat are closer to monoeyes than 2 cameras trying to replicate a pair of eyes. It's just for mechs it's a bit weird to see a single camera on a head module that screams 'my eyes eyes are right here' making them seem a lot more exposed.
Unless you have a bunch of fixed eyes that cover all angles, you need to have a eye and/or a head that can move around, otherwise there will be blind spots. It's not like you need to be some kind of eye horror thing, but 360 degree all around vision is nice. Front/main cameras can be the good quality ones for target identification and aiming, just need basic cameras for peripheral vision so you aren't caught unaware
>>22909082Probably more energy-efficient compared to the Federation visor. Zeon has always had to work with less resources in all its forms.
>>22909082In Feddie designs, the main camera is the one on top of the head. The eyes are sub-cameras that are used for artificial depth perception, allowing the computer to get a better read on distance and direction for targeting purposes. The Sleeves redesigned the Sinanju for propaganda reasons, as it wouldn't do to have the second coming of Char Aznable piloting a Federation mobile suit. It wasn't just the head either, they redesigned almost every piece of armor to make it curvier and give the whole suit a more Zeonic appearance.In-universe justifications aside, it's so that you can know at a glance which faction a particular mobile suit belongs to.
Zeon's are big on propaganda and pride and chest pounding they probably just have them as a form of pride, what better than those filthy Earthnoids Gundams and their two eyes and all that.
