Post knock-offs and bootlegs you found on the net or IRL.I want to laugh at the poor people version of the real thing.
The Ani-Image models weren't bootlegs though, they were very deliberately based on known franchises (the same company later made toys for SDF Macross). Their price point was not much different from other model kits.

>>22913814God damn it Kakarot197 will you just make the next "What if Amuro got the Alex" episode already!?
Post 3 faggot.
Is it a knockoff if it's made by the guy who also design the real thing?

>>22914294My favourite example of this is the Cloudsaber from Sunrise Eiyuutan because Okawara totally ripped it off for the Saviour. It also has the weird cockpit window Layzner has, and since Okawara said that Layzner was going to transform at first, I guess this counts as a Layzner ripoff!

Does this count?
>>22915662It counts.

Keroro robot designs inspired by the Gungal bootleg series (also featuring the poster for Keroro's Justiriser parody)
>>22928623What's the source of this?
>>22930824The Suzumu Imaishi artbook, it's got a bunch of SD Gundam and Crush Gear Turbo designs.

>>22913814>>22915662Pasting a reply I made a while back:Space Black Knight English dub:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_98lB-8h17g>Gundam aired Apr 7, 1979 to Jan 26, 1980>Space Black Knight aired Aug 2, 1979It doesn't add up. I'm assuming some work was outsourced and they copied the cels or something like that.Bonus:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I45t35j8TSs>Calls Gundam, Gets VF-1 ValkyrieI know Macross outsourced their animation to Korean studios so they could've taken the designs from there.
>>22938635iirc Space Gundam V is specifically based on the Takatoku style toy, like it has the support bits on the nose
>>22913814The Condom collection did exist. The Gunpla was purely fan-made.
>>22940550Space Gundam V directly traces some of the settei for Macross like the cockpit and a few of the stock poses. These movies were often directly financed by the bootleg toy makers so it makes sense that sometimes the animators would reference the toy. If I recall Ed Glaser talked about how there would be back alley deals for copies of the designs the local Korean studios would get from Japan for their outsourcing work.
>>22941455back in the day those Joons Valks were one of the more affordable options if you wanted a VF-1 toy
>>22940562Looks cool.
