The art's definitely closer to something like later Getter or Shin Devilman, but if you like Mazinger and Go Nagai, Shin Mazinger Zero's definitely not a work you should just overlook. You ESPECIALLY shouldn't drop it after the first few chapters, if you go through the first volume you'll eventually realize why. It might come across as a grimdark subversion/deconstruction/inventive/dogshit reversal of Mazinger, but it's ultimately a positive story of love and hope. I think after the Toei series, it's my next favourite, then Mazinkaiser's perhaps tied with Shin.
