Animation and choreography is nicer, while the more serialized storytelling gave the writers time to really flesh out the setting and put every character through a journey.
>Kei's sheer dedication towards chasing an elite assassin drives her to hack into a a federal database and perform illegal upgrades on her firearm, which leads to her leaving the 3WA and Yuri attempting to arrest her own partner
>Because of this, Yuri gets saddled with an airheaded rookie who jeopardizes an important mission because it interfered with her date - not unlike what Yuri did a few episodes earlier
Even so, each episode still works well as it's own adventure because they didn't sell their souls to Big Melodrama.
All things considered this might be the pinnacle of "girls with guns" anime.

I still like the 1980s run, even if it always came off as somewhat limited and workmanlike.
