I had no good ideas for the Nightmare Theme (I was going to kitbash a Hamma Hamma) until I remembered the silly underwater suits with their giant monoeyes. I already had a Zogok kit and a leftover Z'gok E kit from a previous entry, so two months to build wouldn't be a problem.Exposed flesh was Green-Stuff putty stretched over an Apoxie-Sculpt "frame". The rubbery Green-Stuff buckled and sagged in all the right ways for dying flesh. I pressed a razor saw into the Green-stuff to simulate stitches from older "repairs".In a first for me, the entire model was hand painted over sprayed Mr Finisher Surfacer Black. The flesh was the usual mix of browns, yellows and whites, but I left out the reds to look unnatural. The armour was supposed to be green(!) like the missile pod, but I wanted bare metal to be seen underneath chips so I drybrushed gunmetal and platinum over all the armour bits. I liked the look so much I kept it that way. Shiny silver and gold is not very spooky to me but it seemed to work here. The armour was heavily sprayed with Gloss varnish, the flesh was sprayed with Matt.I used the extra time given to scratch build an ass battery and missile launcher. The battery itself is a 10 tube missile pod from the Ballden Ball joint kit (I have a million of the damn things) and the missile launcher is from an SD kit.

I don’t feel like the new gundam fits in the franchise. I think the problem with a lot of mechanical designers is their shit doesn’t look like robots. A lot of them look like monsters or costumes LARPing as robots. The new gundam looks like it belongs more in Eva. This is why I like Hajime Katoki. He actually got a degree in engineering so he knows how to make shit look mechanical. Or Syd Mead who was an actual industrial designer. They’re not just some random artfags who happen to be drawing robots.

The reason why that box got a "Last Shot" was because Bandai decided to destroy the mold and make the late 2000s HGs to be the actual " HG " for it, thus making Last Shot to be its final print. Late 2000s HG of RX78 are still being reprinted, unlike the 1990 kit which is extremely rare due to its discontiuation.
