There's nothing stopping the devs from putting Kamina in a coma for most of the game and then waking up as a secret after Simon has effectively replaced him as the hero.

And in OE it didn't even have a plot and just had the characters get teleported from their world, so Kamina lived through the whole game. Would they even do pre-timeskip stuff in the future? Unless they either have another game with a timeskip or another series, rapidly age up the characters, or just end the plot at LordGenome.

Or the hyper spamable style of the ZZ in like A Portable where you're given a good enough map attack that it will probably one shot everything with Valor while also being post move, most of the time ZZ is a showcase of that being bad or gimmicky at best.
While we're on the subject of dead characters, how many games keep Musashi alive? I know he lives throughout most of the Alpha series until Alpha 3, you can save him in A/A Portable, he also lives in Hakai-Hen, and he's alive in 30 because Getter has no plot in that game. Is that it?
