I read a few chapters, had some nice spreads but the characters were utterly unlikeable, I didn't care what happened to them and could not be bothered to keep turning the page.

Return of the Shepherd > Fruit of Eden > Unlucky Days > Invicible Man on the Battlefield > Pack of Hounds > Guardian Song > Hero's Cross
The only story i really didn't like was Hero's Cross, everything else ranged from Amazing to solid.

Did you only read the first story? I think the characters being unlikeable assholes adds to the charm of some stories, and a couple of them in other stories certainly have some things that make them endearing. I really was rooting for the guys in the last story, was hoping the captain would make it out okay in Fruit of Eden, and felt bad for Inudzuka in his story.

Mecha Ryona?
His Thunderbolt stuff is at least more on model with the mecha, with some killer redesigns, and the side story stuff actually has heart.
Dog life isn't even my top 20 for /m/anga. Let alone #1. And this is with me being a huge Front Mission fan. Too chuuni, too all over the place with Wanzer design.
I'd punch all of Square Enix in the face for more Amano and Kow Front Mission.
