ITT: we talk about 70's supers outside of the usual suspects.If any of you wanna watch 'em or don't already know their translation situation, Diapolon, Daikengo, Groizer X, Astroganger, & Ginguiser are all fully subbed, Ga-Keen has its first 10 episodes, Mechander Robo has its Filipino English dub, but you're out of luck with Godam, Machine Blaster, Balatack, & the rest of Ga-Keen.

Apparently these were big in Italy once upon a time. In fact, I've only ever been able to find Balatack, Gakeen, and Gordian Warrior in their entirety in Italian.

>>22974217I actually liked Mechander Robo a lot. Those little yellow vehicles the enemy uses are neat, as well as the supercar the heroes get midway and their base in the stadium. I also liked what I saw of Gakeen; that secret battleship base is amazing. Tansor 5 is one of my favourite anime; it doesn't have robots but it has time-traveling vehicles that connect mysteries of the world to alien interference, so that's neat. I haven't seen Ginguiser and Groizer, but they look interesting. It's not technically 70s but Trider G7 is pretty cool; it's got lots of battles in space, some cool enemy robots, and the robot launches out of a playground.
Happy to say I own the original chogokin toys for a lot of these guys.

The thing I love about 70's super robot anime is no matter how obscure or jank they may be, not a single one of them is ever shallow, they always make at least SOME effort at pathos or at doing something interesting or ambitious with the story!
