Is there any hope for Armor Hero to survive?
>>
Woo mama
>>
>>23008282
Depends on your definition of "survive". Star Ray has started to use AI meaning their production will be even cheaper going forward and Alpha has a lot of money. This means Armor Hero has no issues continuing on as a cheap and shitty toku series made in bad faith, just to sell toys.

Not sure if they will bother genuinely fixing series, neither Alpha nor Herobox have apologized for anything.

They did piss off the old fans, but at the same time they are still able to milk them by making new premium og and XT merch, so does Alpha even need fan support for new Armor Hero shows?
>>
>>23008282
Better question is is there any hope for Giant Saver to return?

The subs being late made people didn't talk much about Wingman.

There's a surprise voice cameo at the very end of the final episode.

Quantum Heroes Dinoster. Like Giant Saver there is suppose to be a series of Quantum Heroes, not just Dinoster. We'll see.
>>
>>23009509
I saw a Korean poster for Quantum Heroes before, any idea if there's Korean involvement in the production, besides the dubbing?

If Quantum Heroes is a Chinese-Korean co-production, it's possible that auldey/alpha may bring Giant Saver back, as a toku or cartoon, just because they can market it as a China-made series. Giant Saver actually has more legitimacy to that claim than Armor Hero because the 1st two Armor Hero shows had a lot of Japanese talent, a fact that Alpha/HeroBox awkwardly ignore in their marketing.

Does this count as toku even if it's an Anime adaptation? : https://youtu.be/VJ6So9rQ8mA
>>
>>23009680
Why wouldn't a live action adaptation count as toku?
>>
>>23009680
We literally just got Wingman toku which originally was a manga and anime.
But to answer your question, the Cells at Work movie did make lots of physical sets, with actions using CGI, I guess they're trying more to be like a Hollywood movie than toku.
>>
I just finished watching the complete Wingman series with Portuguese subtitles. I really enjoyed the series. I wish more people would comment on it. What do you think of it? Was the series a complete adaptation of the manga?
>>
>>23010392
Translate the subs to English and we can talk about it.
>>
>>23010392
I stopped trying to keep up with it weekly cuz the subs releases were all over the place. I'll catch up when it's done.
>>
>>23010392
I didn't read the manga so I don't know if it was a full adaptation. Given its length, that's unlikely.
Looking at the show as of itself, its fine. Its not that great either. The fights are great though, as expected of Sakamoto.
My main issues are that it should've focused entirely on the love triangle and not the toku club and that the final chapter solves everything very conveniently and anti climatically.
>>
>>23010392
Can't comment on the manga/anime comparison but I like the settings and characters.
But some episodes felt like having a weird pacing, which makes me think they actually filmed a 40ish minutes worth of 1 episode each but forced to keep the 20ish minutes.
Like how are they just don't acknowledge one of their teacher and then two students are monsters of the week? Did Aoi just erase everyone's memories about them after they died?

It was a really enjoyable ride week to week that I wasn't expecting but it's not really an adaption of the Wingman manga. The mangaka covered this a bit on his twitter but the drama and anime both kind of swerve into their own thing, and he was happy to work on something that let him change things he may not have liked as much in the original. In particular for the drama he was glad this could be watched by fresh faces and hoped it "not following the original" wasn't seen as something negative. He did say if a studio wanted to faithfully recreate the manga he wouldn't be opposed to that either.

It's really impressive how much they've improved the low budget toku. You can still see some of the same camera angles that get used, to hide the fact that they're shooting in a really tiny place. If you didn't know that it was for porn, you'd be forgiven for seeing it as the natural progression of that really low budget stuff that Rare Toku always rips.

We know there's a Young Taiga movie/show being developed since it was announced on the JP twitter prematurely.

Also, they're going to start uploading the original Garo (in HD) to Youtube, with English subs. Granted, it's most likely the same Machine translation software as the Hagane subs, but it's something
>>

The first two episodes of the first season was uploaded on their 15th anniversary in 2020, and to be honest they're passable compared to Hagane's MTL.
They even have a romaji caption for some reason.

'Tis I, the guy who's been translating all those showa toku manga for the past couple years, & I come with good news & bad news. The bad news is all the manga I'm currently working on (Umezu's Ultraman, Denjin Arrow, & Ota's Mazinger) are on indefinite hiatus. It's a long story that I really don't have the time or energy to get into right now. The good news is I'm NOT quitting the manga scene, not by a longshot, however I'm only gonna be editing other people's translations instead of making my own. There's still gonna be plenty of showa hero manga for you to look forward to, & hopefully I'll be able to come back to where I left off someday.

Unless the Garo IP owners suck shit at contracting, they already have access to the English subs that we purchased on BluRay. There's no reason for them to waste time and money making MTL subs, when they have existing subs.
Also, how much of a newafg are you? They've already uploaded the full show with English subs, they've just hidden the episodes to the public. We've already seen the subs that they're going to use. So I have no idea why you're trying to bring MTL fears for something we already know about.
Please stop bringing up baseless fears, when you're very obviously a newfag.

Just got done watching Garo: Versus Road and I gotta say I fucking loved it. I can get why others would be disappointed in it as the next work in the Garo series, or just as a toku/henshin hero show in general, but as someone who loves martial arts movies/tv shows and death game media it hit the spot for me pretty well. I liked the characters for the most part, not the deepest characterization wise but their was enough there for each of the main characters for me to connect to them.
The action was good, not the best i've seen but for a tv show it was pretty up there. I loved how much MMA style combat was used throughout, Taisuke's Keysei/elbow focused style was pretty great, Kanata's dropkicks always got a pop from me, though obviously Hyuuga was the standout when it came to the action scenes since between his tricking and knife play he really showed off just how fucking strong he was, guy was pulling out some shit 'd expect to see from a makai knight or at least a priestess during his last fight against Amuro and Kanata. Speaking of Amuro he's the GOAT of the series for me, loved that he tried to suplex a horror. All in all i'd say it was an 8/10 for me.
I'm probably going to jump back into Garo proper in the near future since this has reignited my interest in it for me, I watched Garo: The one who shines in the darkness years ago back in 2019 and loved it, then I watched the gold storm movie and started out on the series but I dropped it pretty early due to waning intreset and just generally burning out on toku at the time and I watched the OG Garo two years ago, which I enjoyed for the most part.
>>
>>23024646
Versus Road was fun but barely a Garo show really, which was the issue people had with it.
I would be interested in seeing a follow up to the ending though, Kuon's stuck in Makai and that Azami lady seemed interested in him, they could do something fun I think

The thing about Garo franchise is if they change too much, some people especially on /m/ will complain (Yamitera, Versus Road)
But if it gets traditional they also complain (Makai no Hana, Zero spinoffs)
I guess they just want Kouga again but honestly I don't think he needs a new season.
I still want an all-Garo crossover, anime included.

I feel like people have come around to the Yamitera timeline, especially because of Gold Storm and Hagane. Sure, the timeline is a bit bleaker with a more scattered, disorganized Makai Order, but the core of it is still Garo teaming up with other knights to fight Horrors. Versus Road, however, feels too much of a departure, considering the entire concept. Sure, Horrors show up, but the main crux of it is a battle royale and the Garo armor itself doesn't see action until the finale.

I guess I should probably codify what a "Garo" show is to me:
>Main characters fight Horrors by donning magic armor
>Juxtaposition of real/contemporary world objects with the magical/mystical
>Heavy emphasis on swordplay and choreography

Versus Road doesn't really hit for me, because of the second point - it's not that it's too futuristic, it's that the magical nature of the world of Horrors and Makai almost never factors into it. It's almost all future tech. Even the Garo armor has tron lines. It's like the writers wanted to write a Battle Royale type show, but had to slap the Garo IP on to it to get funding. At least Hagane was kind of a return to form

>Just want Kouga
I can't speak for everyone, but they did kind of tease Kouga going around fixing timelines for Gajari at the end of Moonbow Traveler, and Raiga and Mayuri going after him. That being said, I'm not particularly interested in seeing Kouga again, since his story's mostly finished.

I would like to see another attempt at a story focused around someone inheriting Garo, like Ryuga or Kuon. Maybe the main character is someone who would normally inherit Garo by blood, but either believes that he personally isn't worthy of the title or because he believes that being a Hagane is good enough, and then the last quarter of the show he accepts his responsibility and his title and becomes a proper Garo
