I think the better question is why was this necessary? The main show itself already has a school environment, so why can’t they just tell stories there? Hell, I think there was a missed opportunity to elaborate on characters like Elan, Shaddiq, and Guel. Maybe tell a flashback story to when Miorine was first inducted as the Holder’s bride, and even flesh out the rules of dueling. Instead, we get an official school AU from an AU that’s already set in school. See the problem here?
