Zero-One would have been good, but the pandemic happened and they changed the ending, though the part derailing the show is the Thouser arc. Saber can't keep up with developing the characters. Revice had a feminist for a head writer, costing character development of everyone else. Geats had issues in utilizing their characters, not helped by the Monster users unable to transform because of Kamejim. And Gotchard's ensemble writing group made the story pacing suffer, with both rushed pilot and finale. Only time will tell on where Gavv has a make-or-break point that will make the entire general go up in flames.

Saber issues happened due to the virus since it had them abandoned the much cooler darker plan for one that could cheer up kids, the producer created Tassel at the last minute as a contingency plan in case the show entered hiatus like Zero-One and the producer thought the show wouldn't be able to get guest characters so he decided to introduce most riders in Q1 as retail rather than spreading them out as premium bandai. Other than being a feminist he's just a straight up bad writer, inserting the antivax thing in a japanese kids show of all things and Sakura's character arc got resolved off screen in spite of him wanting to care for her. The problems in Geats' second half came from Takebe delaying the upgrades debuts and the character issue with Geast came from Takahashi wanting to do too much at once without a producer restraining him. Gotchard issue came from deciding a writing duo fairly late into pre-production and said new writer having a very different vision for the show than the producer. Really hope Gavv avoids this production hiccups.

With all the people he and Shouma can't save it'd probably be for the better if they can at least teach civilians about the monsters looking to kidnap and eat them. As for why Touma knew how to fight from the get go as Saber, they explain in the recap episode that it had to do with his destiny as Luna's chosen one, making it the first of a series of special powers he gets throughout the series.
