Although in general the late 90s and early 00s had a trend of psychological thriller-ish, slow-paced moody shows like Lain, Boogiepop Phantom, Texhnolyze, Argento Soma, Alien 9, Betterman, etc. and I wouldn't say all of them were directly inspired by Eva. It was more that Eva and specially EoE popularized the vibe.
