So apparently /a/ hates this. Is it that bad? The mecha models look pretty nice. Saw some clips of the fight scenes and they look alright.

The fights were pretty good, writing was hit or miss. Animation outside of the mechs was also hit or miss. Could have been a lot worse.
There's not much to the story and the characters are all uninteresting.I just find it weird that Gundam keeps churning out Zeon grunt POV about fighting for space independence when the original show already pointed out that's all nonsense because they're just doing whatever the Zabi family wanted.

The ending certainly could have been better, but the action scenes were pretty good, and it's not often you get to see the Gundam slaughtering the bad guys from the bad guys' point of view. I'd rate it above most of the stuff in MS Igloo at the least.

Ignoring the fact that it's zeekwank, the ending completely shits up the story. Solari spends the entire show with PTSD because of her dead husband and how exhausted she is and all she wants to do is go back to space and be with her son again, but then all it takes is one autistic kid dying to make her decide to abandon her son and join the remnants to "save the children." This is painted as a noble and heroic decision.
