I generally don't like when homages are way too blatant with their inspirations and have nothing else going on for them. Like at one point Asuka and Rei show up. It makes the mechanical design really weak. And in Spiderverse they tried to make her more unique and removed from Evangelion, but I hate the mecha design in that. Its like they didn't even try to make it look Japanese. And as far as I remember there's not even biomechanical technology which is what made eva so interesting in the first place and would have fit a Spiderman story. She and her mecha misses the mark too many times. Best Japanese Spiderman is Manga Spiderman, the one with the Mind Tigers
