New UC Gundam fan, here. Just finished Zeta Gundam.

What the fudge was their problem?
>>
>>23065103
Your inability to pay attention
>>
a bunch of maladjusted individuals that got free reign to shoot people and bully civilians, and get paid doing it
>>
>>23065103
They wanted to ruin Earth through war so people would be forced to leave it.
>>
>>23065169
It just felt so comical, though. Like with Bask randomly beating up his own people, letting Psycho Gundam run loose in Hong Kong multiple times, nuking maybe a thousand Federation personnel in Jaburo, etc.
>>
>>23065103
Watching the show explains the show.
>>
>>23065200
Real governments and militaries have done similar or worse things for similar or dumber reasons and still are.

>What the fuck was their problem?
They lived through the worst war in human history and wanted to make sure it doesn't happen again. Then they realized they had absolute authority and things snowballed from there.

Too many awesome mobile suits
>>
>>23068394
Ehhhh, the Titan suits had a bad habit of blending into one another.
Like, the Zaku, Gouf, Dom and Gelgoog all had very distinct looks and abilities.
Meanwhile, the Titan suits don’t heavily differentiate themselves from one another. Individually, they’re fine, but as a group, they all blend together.

Maybe you just don't like mecha if you can't tell the Titans suits apart anon.

>Like, the Zaku, Gouf, Dom and Gelgoog all had very distinct looks and abilities.
I'll give you the Dom and Gelgoog but you're not going to sit here and tell me that the Zaku and the blue Zaku with two shoulder spikes instead of a shoulder shield are more distinct than completely unrelated suits like the Galbaldy β, the Hamrabi, and the Bolinoak Sammahn. I could forgive you for saying the Hizack and the Marasai blend in together, but you said the Zaku and the Gouf are distinct, so nah, fuck that.

The problem with the Titans suits "blending together" is because there's so fucking many of them (because we got fucking model kits to sell, damn it) and they go through them so damn quickly, not that they aren't distinct. The Zeon in 0079 had a grand total of 11 unique mobile suits We are NOT counting both the Dom and Rick Dom, or Char's custom palette swaps as unique suits while the Titans had 23 (26 if you count the two Psycho Gundams and the Titans Mk-II), and again, because they needed to show over 2x as many mobile suits in barely more episodes than 0079 had, they had to introduce them a lot quicker. The first Zeon Mobile Suit to get shown off aside from the Zaku II (aside from the Zaku I) isn't until episode 16 in 0079, whereas in Zeta, at episode 16 you've already seen the Hizack, the Marasai, the Galbaldy β, the Asshimar and the Messala by that point, and that's not even counting the Jaburo Defense Force suits like the GM II, the Guntank II, the GM Cannon, the Act Zaku, the Heavy Guncannon and the Gouf Flight Test Type.

Hell no Bask is a shithead but don't compare him to probably the most wretched part of humanity
>>
>>23065103
The Titans are a historical analogue to American occupation troops and their frequent abuse of power. Really not all that complicated.
>>
>>23068413
This. They all spam beams with little practical difference. Sure, spec wise they are different but that rarely translates into the actual animation.
>>23068637
>they needed to show over 2x as many mobile suits in barely more episodes than 0079 had
This is also a good point. Where as 0079 has one-off mobile armor spam, Zeta has random grunt spam.

>Can't even do that due to corruption.

>>23068763

He targeted emotionally vulnerable women, just take a look at Reccoa.
>>
>>23068763
He was a poor imitation of Posaydal from L-Gaim (which Zeta and ZZ owe A LOT as well as a dash of Dunbine because of those aura barriers that Newtypes could now do).

Scirocco is such an overrated faggot. His only real danger was when he was in a mobile suit. He and Haman having that standoff was pretty kino because neither could gain a decisive advantage.
>>
>>23068763
You could say the same thing about many manipulators or cult leaders. They target on people who are blind to it and/or so damaged they would take anything.
>>
>>23068763
He had Svengali newtype powers
>>
>>23068763
Like Lieutenant Quattro said >>23068807
He wasn't very good at manipulating anyone with actual willpower, he was just a slimy predator who found and exploited women who were emotionally vulnerable.
>>
>>23065103
Jamitov filled his top brass with morons which resulted in wasting the cream of the crop pilots the EF had and also depleting massive amounts of EF resources.
>>
>>23065200
Yeah they are just a bunch low life thugs given too much power via corrupt means that got a little too out of control. Fed rulers are apahetic they dont give shit. As anon said such orgs exist in real life. Police of every authoritarian shithole in the world is like them.

>soul weighed down by gravity

I've heard this tossed around by so many people that I've completely lost any level of understanding as to what it means, I'm not even sure I ever understood.
>>
>>23070771
It's kinda self explanatory if you have the slightest understanding of what a metaphor is.

Gravity is necessary for the survival of the human race. People were never meant to live in metal tubes. The colonies were a mistake, gas them all.

Fake gravity breeds fake people.
From birth to death the Spacenoid lives in a completely sealed environments subsisting on genetically-modified foodstuffs while being constantly exposed to harmful cosmic rays and inundated with substances like lead, fluoride and microplastics. They are completely removed from nature and, consequently, barely human by any quantifiable measure. Is it any wonder that this group is responsible for some of the worst atrocities known to man?
>>
>>23070771
It's a Spacenoid phrase, often used by Zeon, to describe Earthnoids clinging to old ways instead of embracing the galactic future humanity seems destined for. In rejection of new concepts these Earthnoids and Oldtypes hinder progress, binding themselves both metaphorically and literally to the Earth. Their souls are "weighed down by gravity", instead of flying free among the stars.

As you can guess it's often used against Earth supremacists who feel the Earth and the colonies should be ruled by Earthnoids. Jamitov Hymen, despite his actions, is a Contolist and believed humanity should mass move out into space. It's the same goal the AEUG has, but the difference is Titans want to rule it all in the end.
