Zeta was kind of a slog to get through but in retrospect it was good. ZZ was certainly enjoyable. And then this here film was also good. I was kind of hoping to see some characters from the preceding 97 episodes, or even Seyla since she showed up a grand total of 3 times or the mineava thread from ZZ's ending. But from what I have read a lot of stuff was omitted for the sake of story complexity so I see why they did it. this movie is awful. The first time I watched it, I thought it was merely okay. I rewatched it two days ago. The plot is dogshit, quess and hathaway were even more annoying. It's a terrible conclusion to the early UC as it ignores virtually anything of importance but Amuro and Char's rivalry. Where is Sayla? What happened to Beltorchika? Minerva Zabi? So as a sequel to Zeta/ZZ, it is dogshit. I'm left wondering what it accomplished or said that wasn't already covered in 0079. Amuro grows up and finds a family in White Base in 0079 and he dies here, listening to a bizarre rant from Char about his mommy gf who died 15 years ago. I was not into this big fight between them. It felt forced after Zeta's conversation. This feels like it was made to just make money off of people who didn't understand 0079 and wanted to see Amuro and Char fight more. Slop.
Under-produced TV episodes batch aimed at rabid franchise tribesmen that will gobble up anything tomino-related.
