>The streaming version of the Macross Dynamite 7 original video anime series has cut scenes from two episodes in Japan and overseas. The streaming version removed the subplot involving the teenaged character Mylene Flare Jenius being drugged and sexually assaulted. The scenes are cut on subscription video-on-demand (as opposed to pay-per-view or rental) in Japan, as well as on Disney+ overseas and on Hulu in the United States.
>>23069391Honestly this is just an improvement, the rape subplot came out of nowhere and had zero impact on the story, in fact it had no impact on Mylene as a character and the producer character doesn't exist after the scene.
>>23069435She forgave her lesbian rapist is the funniest shit ever at least in the manga version.
>>23069391Not necessarily into censorship but it was a weird nothingburger plot anyway.I heard Wings of Farewell was censored tho. Is that true?
>>23069435The scene is inconsequential and its removal does not harm the show. The principle of editing something out after the fact to suit current sensibilities is bothersome.
>>23069435There's still really no reason to remove it though.
>>23069435It has 0 reason to exist but it’s removal is pretty obviously done for the sake of censorship rather than making the plot flow more smoothly.
All sexual assault scenes in Plus are when the crew are teenagers but people would riot if that ever got censored.
Do NOT make the lesbians look mean.
The only problem with the subplot is that it went nowhere. I'd rather have Mylene scissored and fingered than suffering through Basara singing to the whales.
>>23070112Yes that would have been an improvement.
>>23069391Considering it's Disney im suprised they didn't keep that in since they love to do the same to their child stars.
>>23070553I guess that it hit too close to home.
