Is there a spray booth that doesn't need to connect to a window or anything like that? My current setup is decent in terms of ventilation and I have a respirator and normal fan so fumes aren't really a problem, but I'd like to have a clean and well-lit area to paint in, especially something like a lightbox. Thought about getting some magnifiers with a light like the dude from Toy Story but I figure having an area at least partially isolated from dust would be helpful too. Any recommendations?

there a good repository for gunpla STL/3D printer files or am i gonna have to go digging through cults?
>>23504147Depends what you need. I have a lot of files if you're looking for anything in particular.
This is really good except the overdesigned top right
If I want to prime my gunpla, it doesn't HAVE to be specific brands made for model kits, right? The typical every day primer you can find a typical hardware shop should work just fine as long as they say the same thing like say acrylic and they specific plastic being a material they can use on?
>>23504165I'll also remove the weird ball thing at the back. But yeah, overall, solid design fundamentally. God damn, I initially got into gunpla purely because I want to get a kit of mecha I like from the shows, but now I'm really tempted to buy kits just because they look good.

>>23504199I'm not painting anything in this kit, just panel lining the deep groves mostly in the gold partsthose indeed look nice, but the gold is too reddish, almost orange so it is quite different form the actual Hyakushikithere is also the fact that the plastic they used is odd, as even spray paint does not want to stick to it so I won't even botherI may apply a few decals (it comes with a large sheet of water slide decals too) but they are the usual ver ka autistic smallpox style of warning signs and they are mostly red, so I don't know if they will actually even be visible with the kind of gold color they used. In that case I will just use a bit of decal softener, no topcoat at all
>>23504315>the plastic they used is oddWhat kind is it ? If it's neither ABS or PS you need multiprimer

Anon who has been out of the hobby for 20 years here, the stuff Ive been splurging on has started showing up. Wanted to thank you guys again for your recommendations.Zeta Ver.Ka was out of stock but they had this instead, its basically the same thing yeah? Going to start on that one to see if I even remember how to build these things. I'll post again when its completed.
Customs is so nice, they even went to the trouble of snipping all these parts off the the runners for me :)
>>23503953>>23503559Just hit up your local department store's cosmetic section. Or some daiso type of rando dollar goods store.
>>23504704did they seriously open up the package and took the parts off the runner?

>>23504751Customs people love plamo but can't afford them, so they mess with other people's purchases instead. Very sad.
What's the best way of painting small parts like these? I'm thinking maybe some blue tack on a popsicle stick?
>>23504821i was able to get most of them on alligator clips, with blue tack on the ones that felt like they could easily fly off. I ran the bottom end of the alligator clip through those parts that are the sort of hinge part on the ankle and then held in place with a small amount of tack
>>23504821I use a combination of bluetack+toothpick or masking tape and a skewer, though sometimes I just find a small enough hole and stick a toothpick through that
>>23504751they must have opened it up at least, because none of these parts were on the runners, or even in the bags their runners were in. They were in a smaller separate sandwich baggy.
>>23504821>What's the best way of painting small parts like these?very carefully attach it with CA glue to some kind of handle, wire, bamboo skewer so it can be held while painting
>>23504859My clips are too big for the small nub ones to where they would cover up parts that need to be painted.>>23504867I really should have some toothpicks around as that does sound a bit easier.Going through the manual right now to make sure I'm not coving up a visible spot. >>23504901even a small amount of bluetack should be enough, just gotta press the part down enough so it doesn't flop around
>>23504911I'm planning on trimming that a bit (was feeling lazy but wanted to finish prepping before bed), but also staying fully secure is important to me since I paint in a garage that will be hard to find dropped things in.

>>23503726I mixed some paint for the HIV Gundam. I sprayed a metallic blue base then a clear purple mix on top. >>23505410I wish I had stores for this kind of stuff in my area. Closest "hobby shop" is a 3 hour drive and from the pics online they have a wall of funkopops, a wall of pokemon cards, and then just a bunch of marvel slop merch filling out the rest of the store.

Anyone work with Alclad II before?Anons were talking about pearlescent paint for Dunbine's carapace texture got me thinking about trying out a pearlescent paint on my MG Turn-X's armor sections. >>23505642like what the anon said on the previous thread, Spectral Chrome is very grainy, so avoid it if you want a smoother look. like any other Alclad high-finish, it requires a glossy black basecoat. other alternatives are Maziora color shifting paints, or if you're budget-conscious, Armored Komodo chromaflairs.http://www.showup.jp/mazioraE.html
>>23505741>BertigoI really dig that one. It looks like the lovechild of the Qubeley and Sazabi in the best possible way.
>>23505762Yeah I'd definitely want the least grainy one, so I'll give Maziora or Armored Komodo a try the one in your pic looks really smooth. Any idea how it plays with other high finishes?I was thinking about maybe spraying it over a chrome or gold. So like gloss black primer/alclad chrome/ then holo on top of that for the rainbow effect.
>>23505781watch this on how to use the armored komodo one. it's kind of a complicated process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHOI69B66NE Maziora is straightforward, just pour into the airbrush and spray it! they even offer spraycans if you don't have an airbrush.
>>23505781also, the resulting color depends greatly depending on the base coat color used. the parts on >>23505762 are painted with the same pigment, but with different base coats (top one has white basecoat, while bottom one uses black basecoat). i haven't tried using it on top of chrome or gold. it may work, but the resulting color might be different from the one intended.
>>23505803I have an airbrush and a compressor, just lack a booth right now, but I'll be trying to fix that next month or so.I see what you mean, having to apply the pigments themselves but the results are incredible, at least in that video.

Do you test fit your kits before painting? >>23508341unironically perfect zeong, though you can also wait for the kaiser greymon figurise, should be long enough for your need
>>23508400>perfect zeongOh, good call. Pricey kit to steal just a sword from but I forgot it had a sword like that. Thanks.
>>23508341MG Perfect Zeong. and good timing. it's getting reprinted next year!

>>23508341This is a situation where you should probably just start learning to scratch build rather than spending hundreds of dollars on another kit just for a sword. Longswords have simple shapes defined by basic geometry, you can make one out of a sheet of plaplate, cement, and a hobby knife with very little skill in very little time.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-BK2l0f3nEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaT3GXdr5kM
>>23508406>>23508405I tried to buy one of these from a japanese seller this year for 250 and they cancelled on me. They were doing me a favor it seems.
i think perfect zeong looks retarded
>>23508831I agree, in a roundabout way. It should be red if they want to call it perfect.
>>23508831It's just the wrong one.
>>23508321You're supposed to paint it
>>23508321Changing it from a semi-gloss plastic will go a long way. You could either paint it or just panel line and topcoat it to make it look better.
Pretty excited for the HGUC Hamma Hamma in 7 years
>>23508898>or just panel line and topcoat it to make it look better. This is called longsnapping
