Arachne Edition

Missable parts:

Huh, just noticed Bullet and Ayre from AC6 have the same EN VA. Neat.
>>
oh lol made the thread at the same time it seems
didnt even notice till now, and it wont let me delete the other thread so rip
>>
>>23542689
Yeah /m/ is pretty retarded about deletions.
>>
Arachne thread it is
Or whichever one ends up not getting pruned (if either)

I've done some deep diving into spray and pray given I'm the only person that even likes that move from either game that probably exists on this fucking planet.

The spark notes is
>more efficient with lower fire rate
>hands matter (don't put a sniper in the right hand and ever expect to hit anything in front of you)
>Roughly the same i frames as an emergency dodge
Though this part is mostly superfluous. At .7 you can get iframes into a second rotation but if you let it continue into that second rotation they'll run out before you finish it.
>tap only uses 8 stamina, hold drains additional stamina even if you stop at first rotation. Only tap unless you know what you're doing.
>even with no weight, cancelling into emergency evasion frames without a gap is extremely inconsistent. You'll usually be vulnerable for a few frames.
>left hand starts it's rotation shooting in front, back hand starts it in back, both end in front*
Left hand usually will shot it's last shot diagonally to the left. With enough fire rate you can have a last shot that shoots forward (at the cost of ammo inefficiency)

Roughly about 3x damage of a normal shot.
A gun in the left hand needs less fire rate to be ammo positive.

It's awful.
I love it.
>>
>>23542773
It's only really useful as a hilarious gimmick with Black Moon + Dark Matter. And even then the "usefulness" is just getting a really fucking good laugh out of you. Somehow it shreds enemy Arsenals though, might be a funny grief tactic in PvP when that rolls around.
>>
I know the shift from mechs to power armor was met with mixed reception but I have to say, this game's scratched my Anthem itch really well.
>>
>>23542907
Honestly I'm a fan of the switch. It allowed them to make the game comfortably open world and set it apart from AC rather than being an AC clone like the first. If I want that, AC6 exists.
>>
>>23542773
>Roughly about 3x damage of a normal shot.
So that's why it felt okay on shotguns
>>
why doesn't beating the vanilla rebellion add it to the simulator?
>>
>>23542927
Because he's not really a boss, new players can down him in 2 minutes. Plus he's ALWAYS there.
>>
>>23542873
Moon is more funny than anything else.
Only get's 2x damage, has to be used pointblank (not much of a drag because spin is virtually a close range tool) and is pretty abysmal against enemy arsenals. Mirage also fucking sucks with it.

Matter is modestly better due to suction but has even less ammo and worse memory requirements.

>>23542927
Has to be the one in forest
>>
>>23542937
They should just make the gravity guns cost like 1/4 their current memory, then they'd actually be useful. Also they should make a rapidfire one with a big ass ammo capacity but smaller shots with smaller suction.

insania rex being unable to die until he does his stupid monster hunter raid move is the dumbest shit, what a time waster
>>
>>23542921
Shotguns basically have the best stat spread (for left handed use) requires higher ranks on it's fire rate for the right hand to be perfect but it's still good

At the obvious downside of not being able to be used at range.
I'm not gunning for a retard roll with a GR2 with great stats everywhere and a fucking cursed E for fire rate
>>
>>23543020
Zeruchroar is the same way sort of. If you don't drop him well before he starts initiating P2 (crouching in pain), he cannot die until he fully enters P2.
>>

I hate that this is even a thing that exists now. Need more monster hunter clones being made, preferably with mecha and no cinematic nukes that you avoid by hiding behind rocks.

>>23543866
>>23543898
For how weak the story of DxM1 was, I felt Grief was really well done. Good choice of VA, interesting personality, understandable goals, and a fucking BANGER theme. Void on the other hand is barely in the game at all and you only learn his motivations in a shitty post-game side quest and while his insanity is somewhat understandable, he's honestly a really weak antagonist.
>>
>>23543961
Daemon wasn't created to be a second opinion. He was created as a genetic failsafe to carry on for Grief if Grief failed. Unfortunately for Grief, Daemon was an entirely different person and opposed him instead. This is why he tries to take you out when he realizes you've deviated from the plan completely.

Grief is convinced that regardless of whether you or he are made the scion of the Dominator's will, that its plans will come to pass, whether it's now or in 10,000 years.
>>
>>23543988
Because it will. The Dominator is inevitable. It's just a matter of whether it's a gradual change or an abrupt one. The Dominator wants it sooner rather than later and Grief is in agreement with that. The Immortals wanted to draw it out to give more of humanity a chance to survive.
>>
>>23543991
Basically it's Amuro vs Char at the end of CCA
>>
>>23543993
Basically, yeah, and it's a way better underlying struggle than what DxM2 has. Well, DxM2 somewhat copied it with the Trinitas essentially wanting the same thing Grief and the Dominator wanted, but in comes Void the nihilist with "FUCK IT KILL EVERYTHING BECAUSE MY LIFE SUCKED" to completely remove any sort of moral dilemma. Honestly though even without Void there wasn't much moral dilemma truth be told. The story bends over backwards to make the Trinitas and Axiom look evil as shit without they experiment on even their own people. At least in DxM1 there's an argument to be made about Grief's goal being a viable choice for humanity as it directly leads to the evolution of humanity and spreading life through the cosmos.

>>
>>23543020
Unfortunately that's the case for a lot of bosses.
Lapis cannot die either as long as you let him do the kitchen sink attack, Dreadnought won't die if it's in the middle of digging, Zeruchroar won't die if he starts his Zeruchroar (Desnudo) phase 2 animation.
Insania is easily the worst though because it's hard coded to do that discount Fatalis shit no matter what.
>>
>>23543999
>but in comes Void the nihilist with "FUCK IT KILL EVERYTHING BECAUSE MY LIFE SUCKED"
It's not like that at all, Void does resent the shit Axiom did but he wants to Axis drop (again) because he wants a real survival of the fittest situation without anybody like Osteo pulling the strings. which is why he kills him personally AND he still goes along with the plan of nuking everything.
He knows some humans, somewhere, will survive and rebuild, but he does want to completely erase this whole Outer VS Human shit the Trinitas (and Raven) started so there's only the surviving humans against the world and each others.
In other words Void is a Chaosfag, he wants to kill his creator and he wants his World of STR where humans or outers can "evolve" without overseers with an agenda, the reason Void hijacks the Neun and all of them are onboard with the plan is entirely because they resent Axiom but Void is not a nihilist, he's a retarded darwinist.

Omega Red Bull is the only boss that's so ridiculously spongy you can actually run out of ammo on some builds even on Story, it's worse than Cybele Beta, which makes me think Cybele Omega will be downright horrifying to farm.
Genuinely surprised the fucker made me run out of almost all ammo on my Deadly Drive setup which melts Eclipse ridiculously fast without even having to use a lot of ammo, switched to my Baldur's setup which is more practical but also boring as all hell

>All these boring damage sponge omegas instead of what we actually want

>>
>>23544795
Don't think Zeruch will get an omega version since he didn't have one in the first game, but you never know.
Not sure what they can even do with him to warrant an omega version really, looking at Grausam's gear it's already meh, unless they add a a Very Hard difficulty and/or some properly difficult Axiom dungeons with worthwhile gear in them I don't see the point, the game in its current state does not warrant any tryharding, especially not with pallette swap bosses that are the exact same as their previous version outside of bloated stats.
>>
>>23544799
>Not sure what they can even do with him to warrant an omega version really

Lazy doesn't even begin to describe it, honestly, but maybe if there will ever be an Omega Zeruch you might hope for a Löwenflug variant that isn't complete junk.
This first omega boss and the first wave of paid DLC items doesn't really encourage me to bother with a third game, If there will ever be one at this point given nobody cares about this game.
>>
>>23544805
>maybe if there will ever be an Omega Zeruch you might hope for a Löwenflug variant that isn't complete junk.
Every missile that isnt heat-seeking is automatically junk. The active homing missiles have DOG SHIT lock-on design for a game with this sort of combat.
>>
What other gear does Grausam drop besides the spear?
>>
>>23544812
it's not that bad. It just turns your lockon from hard to soft. But nothing outside of things with blink move hard enough to dodge your gigantic as fuck lockon box

The real zinger is the extremely low payoff and inability to basically do anything while those missiles are deploying. Gunforts rings have comically inevitable tracking combined with horrifically severe lockon.
>>
>>23544818
One singular piece of a full armor set
The rest of which I guess are going to be dripped with the rest of the omegas
Not getting the full set is pretty ass, man.
But whatever, it's a probably that resolves itself in 3 months.
>>
>>23544824
>it's not that bad. It just turns your lockon from hard to soft.
It makes maintaining crit ranges on weapons with small ones fucking impossible.
>>
>>23544829
Lapis will probably drop the head while Cybele will drop the arms and the new immortal in the November DLC will drop the chest at this point since it's clearly styled after it.
The legs are already nothing to write home about so the rest might not be much to talk about either, the OG Siegfried set was also pretty crappy stat wise and this Amalgamate set looks like a repeat of that and nothing more than bragging rights, but who knows, the point of this set style is that each individual piece is kind of unique rather than following a set pattern, but in a game with Explorer/Primus/Weiss I struggle to think of anything that can compete.
>>
>>23544812
>>23544841
I don't mind the soft lock. I think the biggest problem is that the lock-on range for a lot of them are short as fuck. Zeruchroar's missile lock-on range is so close you might as well use melee.

I don't think there's another piece of equipment where the ailment resistances are all that solid
But you're right I think the next piece will be the one that matters the most.

In the meantime I'll try to get the best version of what they have right now for lance and legs. As I'm a peculiar autist and I love shit like this. I'll have to pray wearing a full set of this shit (because of the aforementioned autist) isn't a criminally horrible idea.

But in the meantime, that the bosses only have a limited pool means that farming isn't that bad. The chinese mecha brothers are already just doing zombie runs into the thing.

That said
>Cybele
Man that things going to be a fucking slog.
Cybele is coincidentally the only boss where parrying doesn't give you a heavy stun. It just does another fucking spin. And another. And another. And another. And another until you either fuck up the parry or stop trying.
Causing so many consecutive spins usually has everybody online take retarded amounts of free damage.

Aight, got both a "great" set of legs and a passable spear, don't wanna see this red fuck again for a good while, if ever.
The spear is not terrible given the stun buildup but boy is it slow to build up on any boss, it's still one of the top damaging spears, potentially THE top damaging spear I suppose, but spears are pretty crappy outside of the X attack so there's that.
I really do wonder what's the use case for legs that even at an A score in speed can't even reach 12, nice resistances and basic defense though.
>>23544860
The inherent issue of heavy legs is that your ground speed will be dogshit, so having admittedly good status resistances means little when you can simply not get hit in the first place.
Defense wise...they're not terrible, having such sky high basic defense should mean something at least and the memory on A isn't bad either, but again, I struggle to think of any use case for now, Muramasa and Futsunushi are already all you need to shrug off damage even on Hard, unless this leads to some magic combination later on with newer gear and maybe some general balance adjustments I'm just not convinced.

The "every set has to have massive negatives in one stat" approach feels weird specifically because the game has such a free for all transmog system. If you were going to go this far to have a single set reign supreme in each category with a massive drawback, you could have just gone with a stat stick system.
>>
>>23544860
>I don't think there's another piece of equipment where the ailment resistances are all that solid
Yeah now if only ailment resistance wasn't completely worthless. Only flinch resistance is worth giving a shit about and the flinch on those legs is incredibly mediocre.
>>

>What the fuck is Cybele Omega even going to drop as a weapon? ANOTHER worthless acid gun nobody is going to use?
Wait a day or two for that one mdoder to update his 'buy all items in the shop' mod. There's no chance that the patch didn't include the weapons from cvybele and lacrima omega too.
>>
>>23544861
What's the A memory like? I kind of want one with A on memory or Femto and B's/c's elsewhere. So I'll be farming for awhile.

Ignoring set-collection autist (seriously I wore fucking base Rise Narwa set, I have brain damage) I think the biggest claim it has is modestly high memory for a heavy, great resistances (for a heavy), okay defenses (for a heavy)
But very good femto capacity. (...for a heavy)

I don't think I'd ever touch it anyways if it wasn't a lego set. But hey, it's there I guess.

Eh, the head's pretty good, I gotta give Weiss that.
The arms are alright too but they're no Explorer, Gun/Throw is an interesting idea but given how strong melee is in this game in practice they lag behind both Explorer and Primus and their only benefit is the combination of VP+Memory at the cost of absurdly bad laser defense in a game where many lasers are a tiny bit away from being hitscan bullshit.
Chest and Legs are abysmal and I would never, ever use them.
>>
>>23544878
>Zeruchweiss
Depends on what you're talking about, nothing beats Futsunushi in defense. It's BIS so far above everything else that it's not even funny. Which is why it makes no sense that every yellow (and now red) set has a massive negative in at least one stat. If armor sets had bonuses or perks that made each piece distinguishable it would make more sense. But considerign they're all glorified stat sticks it just feels weird that this easily missable purple set trumps everything.

>jumps
>bad
How so? They're extremely resource-efficient, being either completely free if you're doing the thing where you jump forwards for momentum and then veer to the side to strafe or helping you conserve momentum and femto if you're using them to shoot during a femto boost, meaning you'll have plenty of stamina and femto left to use for other things. They even work on heavy builds because the jump penalty for weight isn't that severe. You can instantly get into critical distance for both melee and ranged at no cost whatsoever with a jump, and they're good for traversal too. The only issue is that you can't use jumps for everything and you do need to fly sometimes.
>>
I feel like I can't use anything without max fuel efficiency anymore

I don't think most games on steam support native gyro; and if they do it's only if you hook up a dualshock via wired connection or something like that. You can set up gyro as joystick though, which isn't bad aside from the lack of separate sensitivity control and the fact that if you leave gyro turned on while locked on it'll switch targets. I hated that second part at first, but I came up with a control scheme that turns gyro off if you hold the lock-on button and it does have the benefit of letting you select items/comms more easily too so I don't know if gyro as mouse would really be notably better.

If you didn't know, you can't use gyro as mouse because simultaneous mouse/keyboard and controller inputs cause lag; probably due to the UI switching automatically. I've submitted multiple bug reports to Marvelous USA about it since apparently they handle the steam release, but I haven't even gotten a report confirmation back from them yet. You could try submitting one too if you want.

In any case, my gyro setup with steam's controller config is more or less the following:
>camera sensitivity maxed in-game
>gyro set as "Gyro To Joystick Camera [Beta]
>no activation button, send to right joystick, gyro sensitivity 10x, gyro speed deadzone 0, gyro precision speed 0, vertical/horizontal mixer -50%, gyro orientation yaw + roll (may want to change this to player space or world space)
>Action Set Layer with gyro disabled
>default Action Set has lock-on button set to execute two commands; lock on button itself (right stick click by default, but mine is a back button) as Regular Press with Interruptible turned off and Add Action Set Layer (No Gyro) as Long Press with Long Press Time at 300ms
>no gyro Action Set Layer has the same setup for the lock-on button, but command 2 is another uninterruptible regular press rather than a long press and is set to Remove Action Set Layer (No Gyro) so pressing it again instantly puts gyro back
>>
>>23545226
>>23545271
Had a hell of a time getting that lock-on button thing to feel right, but it works pretty well now. I'm just using the default button layout in-game, but I'm playing on Steam Deck so I've got inputs to spare to make that more comfortable. If you're using a standard controller without back buttons you might want to put lock-on somewhere more comfy than right stick and consider using Player Space or World Space for the type of gyro; yaw + roll is the default for Steam Deck and I think either that or Local Space tends to work better for devices with a screen. Might need to mess with sensitivity too, I know I will now that they've added more in-game settings for it. My main complaint now is that the joystick is too slow and I want to be able to adjust gyro sensitivity separately from joystick sensitivity; especially when aiming with snipers or bows. Might be able to work around that with the new settings they added, now that I think about it

Grappling also scales the damage of Grappling Hook's "physics" damage, as in either fall damage from being lifted by it or collisions between enemies and...femto crystals/scrap crystals/boxes, and whether or not you can grab heavy enemies with it.
The various ED mechs or Reisender for instance CAN be launched with Grappling Hook but you need a relatively high Grappling stat to do it.

Jump performance is not only great, it's the single most important stat for AS gun users (especially weapon arm users and weapon arms are still REALLY good in this game) since AS+gunfire absolutely cripples your movement speed in both the air and ground even with A ground/air Explorer parts.
BUT! Guess what allows you to still be hyper mobile (at exactly 0 stamina and Femto costs) with both of those? Jumping with high jump performance, bunnyhopping is very much a thing in this game.
>>
>>23545887
I use AS 24/7 in the air and nothing ever hits me. Sounds like your build is just too heavy man.

I remember hearing about that debuff and then completely forgetting about it because it was either never an issue for me on my jump build or I was too fat for it to matter on my heavy build
>>
>>23545905
Who said anything about getting hit, it does help with that in some cases where bosses can actually aim, but the real value is actually being able to consistently keep yourself glued to bosses who love to constantly disengage and run away from you like Rebellion or that huge faggot Zeruchroar so you can farm them in a reasonable amount of time.
Being able to become unhittable is just a plus, maybe once PvP drop it will become even more insufferable though.

True, but it is not infallible. The first time I met one I quickly realized that the usual stick-your-sword-in-it wasn't working, then switched to dual SMGs+garuda and the problem went away. It DID take longer than expected on account of the fucker having fairly high phys def and getting knockdown i-frames way too often, but it didn't take anywhere near 5 minutes.

I'm 100% sure nothing changed because the only thing I had time to do when going through the stagger autism was go from rank 30 to 6 in the arena to test that and type up a bunch of stuff about it. I wasn't even using this build for the vast majority of it, and I certainly would not have saved it at any point considering the only reason I brought it out was to slap some Explorer parts on to see if it would be staggered by the one opponent in the entire arena who had a knife (it was the worst knife in the game and they were one of the top fighters for some reason), which it was. After that I fucked around with double laser knuckles to see if they could stunlock things to death, which they could. Then I went to bed immediately because I stayed up until like 2 AM doing all that, didn't play the next two days because of life, and the laser knuckles were still on when I turned the game on today. I could not be any more sure that nothing changed since I was only testing things that day and haven't actually gotten.to play outside of the arena grind for testing since before then.

It's worth noting that I've got several memory down level 3's on there, so maybe something changed with the numbers on those? I doubt most people would need to use them on their builds unless they're early-mid game like me

Actually no, I should have bothered to check that first. I ended up not needed those or memory capacity ups in the end. These are the current memory costs for each part:
>Carnwennan - 50
>Vermillion Knight - 249 (226 without the extra 10% from Laser Damage Up 3)
>Takemikazuchi - 270
>Outrider - 306 (278 without extra 10% from Physical Damage Up 3)
>Reserve Magazine - 164

And the memory capacity didn't change, so I won't bother going through the armor. Nothing I have on there changes memory consumption anyway. I don't think there's any way I can check all that for the pre-patch version?

Why the fuck do acid guns even exist? I have never once seen another player using one outside of for a meme in DxM1 or 2. The defense debuff would potentially be worth something, but in the sim you can just bring Angel if you want that and even if she DIDN'T have that ability? Acid guns do so little damage you really cannot justify the slot just to get the debuff.

>has anybody tried to get a full melee build to work
I've done a stupid amount of testing for it in training mode and the arena, but haven't actually bothered to use one for regular play yet. One possible advantage to it would be stringing combos together between all 4 weapons, with the caveat that it won't work on heavies unless you get a flinch and that if you try it without a flinch they'll armor through it due to having higher stagger res than combo-capable weapons have stagger. Against lighter enemies the game gives them super armor after a while (certain number of hits?) so they can escape. So like you could run four blades and that'd actually be pretty decent against non-heavies since you could keep a crit combo going for a while and it skips the slow last hit of their combo which doesn't usually connect after the second hit.

It might be better to run different melee weapons for different situations though, like faster/lighter weapons with less stagger for catching fast targets or lower commitment, stronger but slower weapons to continue your combo with more damage/stagger/flinch, weapons with a painful crit range to combo into after a weapon that has a good crit range, or just laser vs physical vs basic. There's also a bunch of other interactions like fists staggerlocking most non-heavies when using together, maces and lances having a really good X slash together, maces only being a crit combo finisher as opposed to knuckles only being a crit combo starter, etc.

TLDR; I haven't, but you could absolutely make it work if you really wanted to due to all the different ways melee weapons can interact with each other and enemies. A lot of this is mainly for enemy arsenals; against dumber enemies that just sit there and take it you have a lot more freedom to use whatever.

Yeah I feel like it should work easily.

But I have some worries.
You can stagger heavies with throw arms on a 2H sword. But a 2H sword, if it can stay in range of the target, can pretty much instantly kill it with Onslaught. The issue is that enemy arsenals can just not be near you when you start onslaught. King just goes away. Ironically so does solomon that coward.

Grapple, kick, and whirlwind don't last enough to link to an Onslaught. From what I can see it has to happen raw. Charge Chaser needs a tracking buff. It has a literal dead angle where you'll spin around the target forever, and can miss stationary targets based on player movement.

Double fists are great. But they're boring so that's out.
And heavy skill use absolutely demolishes your femto even at 40% efficiency. So I need to figure out an option that isn't just flugel.

But really it comes back to fast targets and heavies.
2h throw arms staggers heavies as mentioned above but you don't actually get real payoff out of it without a mace.

Actually maybe that's just the option. Use the 2h throw arms as a combo starter, the mace to capitalize, and the two other melee weapon slots for general use against things that don't just fuck off. That covers fat ass arsenals and fast arsenals. Obviously only a heavy is going to be able to cope with this. I see people talking about Lance but both it and Laser Sword are the best weapons for killing large amounts of mooks. The Laser Sword due to Harverster Scythe, and the Lance due to Rush Assault.

Thanks for mentioning combos. I wasn't thinking hard enough about that.
Still need an option for Femto. I'd need probably like 180 efficiency or a jagd. Is that even possible?
>>
>>23546236

>>23546215
I think they only exist to apply the ailment easily and regularly. They kind of suck because there's a cooltime on how long before enemies can even get that status again, so to be optimal you'd need to swap it out for another weapon during that time. If I remember right it's 15 seconds for burning, 30 seconds for corrosion, and 60 seconds for stun. That's after their effect runs its course, and the duration of that effect is supposedly based on the enemy's resistances. Dunno about blind, and jamming doesn't even seem to do anything unless the enemy uses Mirage. Jamming would have some use in PvP though. Being able to sap someone's stamina every 15 seconds with a flamethrower would be pretty annoying. Acid and stun feel more situational, like you'd get the most value out of them in co-op PvE. However, acid does at least have the potential to make your other attacks stronger so maybe there are some 1-on-1 setups that could make use of it.

Also, I just now realized that Caustic Blade doesn't actually apply acid on the first hit; you need to hit multiple times with it, which would work well if you use it while grab stabbing. It makes the enemies look like they have the status ailment applied when you first use it on them, but it's not actually applied yet; it's just building up, and quickly dissipates over time if you don't keep applying it. The status guns build it up very easily, so they'd generally be the best way to apply a status. With two of them, you could stack double DoTs of acid and fire together too. If you want to see if the status is applied, look at the icon over the enemy's head. I feel stupid for not noticing that sooner

Apparently there are some funny boss interactions like Gearworm rushing to the water area in his arena to try and wash the corrosion off if you apply it to him or Dreanought not being able to burrow while on fire too, but I haven't verified those.
>>
>>23546345
nta but I've been playing around with it in place of where I put my Grim Reaper II
And the results aren't as bad as I was expecting with a bit of an asterisk.

You need those 30ish second of corrosion to equate the damage you'd lose using that gun over the grim reaper. So the paired gun (or guns if you have a spare to replace the corrosion gun) would have to be extremely high dps weapons like a pistol, charge laser gun, melee combo, etc. Or lots of attacks from all sources, like dual wielding guns on assault shift while shitting out missiles.

That's not actually that hard to do in a vacuum. And the damage on them isn't like it's miserable. If the (potentially) next acid gun can reach at least 5 on the fire rate it might actually not be terrible as a weapon either... Or rather it'll be "not as terrible" as a weapon. I'm a bit more warm on the idea now. But there also comes the singular problem of "why the fuck are you using something that has a failure state (not capitalizing on the acid windows) for marginal gain over using a regular gun. And there's no answer to that question. Especially when big bosses can have that ailment applied via consumables.
>>
>>23546310
Maybe that's a use case for a stun weapon? Just to give you some time to Onslaught every now and then. You could run the deer lance and kill two birds with one weapon slot. Or one really big bird with two weapon slots, I guess. If you're bringing a mace too then you've got the X slash spam as a third option. I know skills do a lot of damage, but if femto usage is a concern you could probably get by with basic combos and just save those for utility or big openings
>>
>>23546365
Well, they might be good in a setting where items aren't allowed and you basically are in a vacuum like PvP. You could apply the status to a large group at once to get some damage in on all of them while focusing a bigger target, which could be nice for ammo efficiency. Maybe that's a use for an explosive acid gun if there's one of those like the first game had. There's also the fact that they'd be able to damage something no matter what even if it'd take longer than a similar gun; although that's more of a build issue than anything. If your other weapon is capable of reliably hitting during those acid windows then that failure state doesn't seem too bad at least. Since acid guns and flamethrowers both stack their ailments and hit reliably they might actually make a better pairing than I thought. But like you said, more DPS to capitalize on that window is probably better

I spent 30 hours in the demo before the full game came out. If you just do the missions it should only be like 3-4 hours. You can get more time out of it if you explore and loot.

Just wondering if anybody did, given the range nerfs from the first game. Looking to switch up weapons too, I can feel my brain cells dying from spamming too much dual MGs.
>>
>>23546750
>Implying getting a decent Salamander isn't already a pain
I grinded two of those off Gaze and in the time it took me to get acceptable ones I already found multiple Empusas which would kill shit faster and more efficiently by simply slapping some common Ammo 3 modules, no strings attached.
Also, good luck sitting consistently in a 2 meter range window at around 20 meters of distance, especially against things that never stop moving like Zeruchroar and with no ammo pack II actually make you compete with ARs and MGs, anything with that small a critical range is an absolute pain to use, especially if it lacks ammo like handguns do.
>>
>>23546761
I think you could probably use any weapon as a primary in this game if you're good enough and understand how they work. Maybe not dual shields since they can only deal damage through skills and being thrown, but everything else. Probably even your bare hands with enough determination
>>
>>23546762
>I grinded two of those off Gaze
That's where you fucked up. It's WAY easier to farm them from Mountain Strays.

I have no issues with this.
>and with no ammo pack II actually make you compete with ARs and MGs, anything with that small a critical range is an absolute pain to use, especially if it lacks ammo like handguns do.
The fuck are you talking about? My Salamander literally never runs out of ammo. It has an ABSURD amount of shots, especially when you compare it to something like the Silver Raven II.
>>
>DLC outfits keep my bug head
Dammit...
>>
>>23546783
I'm hoping they correct this because it's really fucking stupid to release DLC outfits that the players can't wear without looking retarded unless they voluntarily kneecap their build.
>>
>>23546780
Why would I ever farm them off Strays when I can just kill Gaze in 20 or so seconds and also farm multiple high tier modules, empusas, explorer parts etc. at the same time, much faster than strays respawn, without having to pray for the right Stray to spawn? I already had to do that for many other weapons, I'd never do it for something a boss can drop on the simulator.
>It has an ABSURD amount of shots, especially when you compare it to something like the Silver Raven II.
Nothing with 200-ish ammo is absurd, A SRII has double the ammo count at a baseline while also having a ridiculously better crit range, don't be absurd.
In theory it's true that a maxed out Salamander is better than a SRII in terms of damage since a single shot of a Salamander in crit range on a weak point is worth half or so an entire mag of a SRII in crit range, in practice it's ridiculously harder to achieve and never worth the hassle for a lot of reasons, which is why things like machineguns or laser shotguns dominate.
Nothing can kill bosses faster than two triple stars either...in theory, in practice it's not really like that because a lot of stars have to align in many places, it's like how knives have potentially the highest DPS of melee weapons but in practice it's things like laser blades, Soryu and what have you.
>>23546783
I'm sure this is intentional and they will release versions that hide mutations as a paid DLC.
After all they just put out DXM1 hairstyles on multiple, separate packs as paid DLC.
>>
>>23546800
>Nothing with 200-ish ammo is absurd, A SRII has double the ammo count at a baseline while also having a ridiculously better crit range, don't be absurd.
...You realize weapons have different fire rates, right? My build has a Salamander and an SR2 on it. They both have B in ammo. The Salamander has 3 power attachments in it, meanwhile the SR2 has 3 ammo attachments in it and if I fire both at once the SR2 will -STILL- bottom out before the Salamander does.
>>
>>23546805
It doesn't matter whether you empty your SRII's mag before your Salamander's, what matters is how much damage you get out of that ammo, and maybe how fast you get to kill things with it too depending on who you ask.
Both of these are heavily in favor of the SRII, after all you yourself implied that too.
>>
>>23546800

Jesus Christ dude stop coping. If you can't maintain the crit range, that's fine. Doesn't mean everyone has that problem. It doesn't make you bad at the game or anything (it's really hard to be bad at this game since it's so easy) so you really don't need to build a wall of theory crafting like this. I can maintain that range, therefor handguns are great as a primary weapon for me. You can't, so they are a poor choice for you. Simple as.
>>
>>23546813
What theory crafting, it's basic gameplay facts, I'm not the one who brought up and keeps bringing up the skill issue factor for a weapon class that is deliberately unwieldly.
The entire conversation wasn't about you either, it was about another anon, but let's leave it at that.
>>
>>23546809
>Both of these are heavily in favor of the SRII, after all you yourself implied that too.
I'm not the anon you were debating with. I'm just chiming in that SR2 runs out of ammo much faster.
>what matters is how much damage you get out of that ammo
Okay? And? There's more reasons to use a handgun than just maintaining the top DPS. I pair one with an SR2 because their crit ranges line up and my build is memory starved and the Salamander can actually pose as a regular firearm at absurdly low cost and still function as a punish when the enemy can't move. Plus it's crit range lines up with the SR2's and it even has a longer effective range making them cover for each other very well. It's fine as a primary weapon in the right setup, you don't know everything man. You can't account for every situation by just mathing out DPS. Going that route drifts too far into the territory the other guy is arguing where he claims he can stay in crit range of a handgun 24/7. There are use cases for handguns aside from "oh shit he's staggered lemme pull this out". Well, the Salamander at least. The others not so much.
>>
>>23546820
>What theory crafting, it's basic gameplay facts, I'm not the one who brought up and keeps bringing up the skill issue factor for a weapon class that is deliberately unwieldly.
It's quite literally a skill issue if you cannot maintain the proper range for top DPS.

No? I've been arguing with your dumb ass this entire time. You feeling alright lil bro?
>>
>>23546821
>Going that route drifts too far into the territory the other guy is arguing where he claims he can stay in crit range of a handgun 24/7
I can, you people just suck.
>>
>>23546821
Of course you should use a handgun for something more than bog standard DPS, mostly because that's what they're literally designed for, burst damage on weak points at strict critical ranges rather than a constant stream of easy damage.
And yes, the Salamander is the only handgun that can sorta work as a souped up AR, I still wouldn't suggest using it like that because it's crit range is very weird and requires a lot of practice to actually get something out of it, I'd only do so if I really like how the gun looks or something because overall it's kind of a miserable experience.
>>
>>23546832
I mean like I said, the low memory and weight can be worth practicing with it to get the value. You say it's miserable, but I have fun with it personally and am -okay- at staying in the crit range, enough to the point where it's not wasting the weapon slot at least.
>>23546826
I'm not going to engage with you man, grow up.
>>
>>23546839
Oh I did not want to imply that a Salamander is a waste of a slot, it's a terrific weapon IF you want to learn how to work around it, even if I'm one of those who'd rather use the Triple Star at that point if I had to work out handguns.
Actually mildly related, but why the FUCK are the supposed "upgraded" weapons like the Triple Star modeled with bigger mags than their base version when they have both smaller mags AND less ammo than their supposed base version?
Why the fuck is it nearly always like that? I think the only exceptions I noticed to this pattern is Weiss Donner and Blue Shark? Who allowed this? Even the fucking laser shotguns do this somehow.
>>
>>23546859
>even if I'm one of those who'd rather use the Triple Star at that point if I had to work out handguns.
Triple Star feels like a pain in the ass to me mostly because it's semi-auto rather than full, so I tend to avoid it.
>Actually mildly related, but why the FUCK are the supposed "upgraded" weapons like the Triple Star modeled with bigger mags than their base version when they have both smaller mags AND less ammo than their supposed base version?

I didn't notice this before JUST now and it now bugs me too. Apparently the hacks at Marvelous don't know how to make an upgrade look like an "upgrade" without giving it a visibly larger mag.
>>
>>23546864
>I didn't notice this before JUST now and it now bugs me too.
Right?
There's only a tiny handful of cases where this pattern doesn't apply and it's really pissing me off, hopefully somebody makes a mod to swap models or something because it's seriously offputting.
>>
>>23546783
>>23546787
A lot of japanese players are complaining about this too, so it seems likely that they will do something about it. The bare minimum would just be adding mutation-hiding versions of every outfit that unlock when you buy the first outfit's mutation-hiding version in postgame. A better solution would be letting players customize their mutations, but I doubt they'd go to that much trouble.
>>
>>23546873
I don't know why they thought this would EVER be well-received. If the mutations were cosmetic only it'd be one thing, but they are fucking mandatory under the lens of making the game more fun. If they were JUST passive bonuses you could argue they are unnecessary but if you don't unlock general and weapon action skills you are straight up just not using a huge chunk of the combat system. Gating that shit behind turning your character into a freak of nature (when all the Neun have these abilities and DON'T have visible mutations aside from Arachne who's mutations clearly were meant to accentuate her body anyway) is fucking retarded, especially in a game with cosmetic outfits that don't hide the changes. It'll be fifty times worse if they make us pay for any outfits too.
>>
>>23546826
I wasn't involved in the previous conversation, but what do you do to maintain that range? Do you just have really high air speed on your build so it's easy to do passively?
>>
>>23546883
NTA but as the other guy who uses a handgun as a primary weapon, air speed definitely helps a ton. Explorer body is a STRONG recommend and try to keep your load as light as possible. Once you're light enough it's pretty easy to stay close enough to maintain the range and then you just make micro-adjustments to hold there unless the target spazzes out.
>>
>>23546883
I'd answer your question but >>23546889 did it for me. Not much to add. Stay fast, git gud.
>>
>>23546889
>>23546892
I see, thanks. Makes sense
>>
>>23546883
A baseline of 35-40 speed is more or less mandatory because you really need to consistently stay in a rather tight gap when it comes to handguns.
That means Explorer body/legs are mandatory, A score Primus body/legs are fine with speed up modules, but A score Explorer still has around 5-10+ more speed and since you don't really need the extra memory Primus parts have when it comes to handguns there's no real incentive to not go Explorer since you'll still have plenty of memory to add a decent melee option too.
We really do need more fast body/legs part though, that and sniping oriented heads that can make me drop Auxo, part balance is a hot mess currently, too many useless parts, too many power spikes.
>>
>>23546908
>We really do need more fast body/legs part though, that and sniping oriented heads that can make me drop Auxo, part balance is a hot mess currently, too many useless parts, too many power spikes.
Tell me about it. The second I got an Explorer body I said "oh if this is this fast I can't wait to see the other speedy bodies" but there uh, weren't any. Feels weird that they dropped this games Mumei equivalent so early. Granted that's a bit of a false comparison because while the Mumei was fast the gap between it and the next body down in DxM1 wasn't THIS drastic.
>>
>>23546911
DXM1 had the opposite problem of a lot of sets not having enough of a powergap between them so a lot of it just used to meld together outside of some rare truly bad parts and some truly OP parts, in general the average was fairly good and most parts were plenty fine, even if there was something better you were hardly ever pushed to pursue that (also because the game was broken by a million things).
Now we have the opposite issue where they overcorrected and the gap between power spikes is so wide it's impossible to not use certain parts like again, Explorer, Futsunushi, Primus, Weiss etc. and the average is actually pretty bad, rarely if ever will you find SOME part from the select couple of meta sets that you can stick somewhere, and the worst thing is most of those exception are heads like Auxo, Pallas or Gozu.
As I see it the issue is due to Memory being much more strict than DXM1 (A good thing in a way), speed spikes being absurd with Primus and Explorer having an insane gap with everything else and some parts hogging an insane amount of buffs, sometimes nonsensically too, why does Auxo head, a random early mid tier part has three times the tags and worst of all, comparable to if not better statwise than Rakshasa, Gaze's unique head part? Nevermind what they did to the Halberd set, the entire parts balance of this game is very feast or famine and a transmog function only hides the visual part of the issue but not the mechanical part.
>>
>>23546923
>the entire parts balance of this game is very feast or famine and a transmog function only hides the visual part of the issue but not the mechanical part.
Honestly without the transmog this shit would be DoA. I turned mine off once and wanted to vomit. Now I've been playing AC games since 2002 and played the original DxM so I've seen some clownsuits in my day but my Arsenal without the transmog looks so bad I audibly laughed at how bad it was. Weiss head/legs, Explorer body/L arm, and a Pallas R arm. Fucking thing looked like a reject from the casting call for Metal Gear Rising. I would have dropped this shit a LONG time ago if I couldn't transmog for fashion and stats because pure sets isn't an option statwise and all the best sets look like ASS when mixed.
>>
>>23546908
How do you factor wingshift into this? It feels like 20-30 speed can get by with wingshift easily.
>>
>>23546933
NTA but I prefer AS with handguns personally. Their goal is sky high damage and AS is going to mesh well with that and to get by with AS you're gonna want as much speed as possible.
>>
>>23546932
Yeah, it's a very deliberate design choice because the actual balance is Gen 3 AC levels of bad and without that people would rightfully riot at the clownsuits.
What bothers me even more is that they could have done something so basic like making parts that drop in Hard Mode have extra affixes or something, they kept the godawful diablo loot from the first game, did not improve it in any way and somehow overcorrected the wonky balance in the opposite direction.
>>23546933
It's a thing to consider for sure, imo it helps even the odds for Primus vs Explorer, top WS Primus is more or less even with top Explorer.
Anon here>>23546938 raises a very good point though which is AS, and Primus in particular is a prime candidate for AS too because of its naturally high Femto scores so it's kind of a tough choice, do you want more speed to keep up with Explorer while having more memory and well rounded defense, or stay a bit slower but have additional DPS with AS?
When it comes to Explorer I think WS is out of the question because you're already at god tier speed and adding more might end up giving you the SHMUP problem of too many speed ups actually making you less precise, so AS is just a better choice if you ask me.
Keep in mind your handguns are solid ammo so using all of that Femto for additional DPS on AS is a no brainer since you don't have to worry about the Femto adjustments of energy weaponry, AS on handguns is just a really good deal.
>>
>>23546933
Almost forgot, there's a small handful of bodies and legs like Demeter that CAN get somewhat competitive with base Primus when it comes to WS, but again, it's just a select handful and whether or not you want to trade speed for marginally better defenses is up to you.
As the game is currently I honestly can't find many reasons to not use Primus/Explorer parts when it comes to something like a build with handguns as a primary weapon, they're simply too stacked in speed/jump/dodge compared to everything else.

I had one with a Graussam B on the second floor, it was a purple card so I'd guess it's locked to higher rarities.

how do we feel about the 20 million dlcs they released? just all cheap hair options, also the steam page for the free outfit showed the ice cream shop girl's outfit as an option, so curious if thats something obtainable in the game yet or just one of their free update outfits in the future

Doesn't bother me, I'm not interested in the hairs. The outfits need to give you a version that hides mutations too though, at least once you unlock the first one.

And just to make sure I did the things that I did in MY post you're probably referring to.
Naturally all online, IP reset, on a pre Zeruch sim save.

For about 50 resets just to make extra sure it's not an anomaly.
There is no Second Gunfort in the wild anymore.. Which should honestly be obvious given that we only saw that in the wild the night before they ran the event AND you had to be online for it.

Hence the "go fight zeruchroar right now"

How the fuck do melee criticals work? Do I have to initiate the attack (with movement) from the crit range? Or does it have to HIT in the crit range? The latter seems fucking impossible seeing as, you know, melee attacks move you into kissing distance.

>>
>>23548675
It's the former, yeah.
Also note that crits continue until the combo ends.

e.g; if you start with your left hand and switch to your right hand weapon (that's also melee) you'll continue criting. And a cross slash using both weapons also inherit crits.
>>

We're talking about Zeruchroars spawn. I'm assuming anybody talking about that knows the conditions
The original anon clearly knew the conditions because that's what he was referencing.

To get (you) up to speed
A) Go to the second gunfort beta spawn
B) hang out for a few seconds to trigger it's spawn
C)if it doesn't spawn you restart
You repeat these steps until he spawns.

Obviously that's different now.
You can't trigger Zeruch because the second gunfort doesn't spawn.
Hence telling the original anon to go trigger Zeruch, It did that because it's impossible. Because the second gunfort doesn't spawn.

The Gunfort beta that retard posted >>23548663
can never spawn a Zeruchroar.
He had no context for the conversation he interjected himself into.

>>
>>23548681
What determines when the combo "stops"? When I stop pressing buttons or what?
>>
>>23548729
It's weapon type dependent
But, generally it's every attack in the weapons combo string
e.g; Laser Sword and regular Swords 3 hit combo
Tachi's 5 hit combo
Generally a weapon can only be used once in a combo.

Before the final hit of any given weapon combo you can swap to the other hand and continue until the final hit. After any final hit you can x slash.
There's some exceptions;
>Fists can only be used to start a combo and drop when swapped to
>mace essentially can only end a combo
>Caustic Edge and Demilune Slash are the only weapon skills that can continue/start a combo and allow the weapon they're attached to, to be used twice.
>>
>>23548729
>>23548734
Also worth noting that if you have Soryu in it's "assembled" mode it can combo infinitely. Well, provided you have the stamina.
>>
>>23548742
Ah right completely forgot Soryu.
Can combo forever no matter what technically due to it's funny switch attacks
I wish the i-frames from doing those was a bit easier to control.
>>
>>23548729
Depends on the weapon, just try them and see on what button press the numbers stop being big. Special cases include knuckles where every hit counts as the first hit meaning they usually can't crit after another weapon's attack (although I've seen it happen with double knuckles when the enemy moves), maces where their attack is a finisher on its own, and 2H swords where they can technically keep critting forever because their combo never ends but at unlikely to do so because they're slow.

After a finisher, you can still use a X slash with both weapons for a bit more damage that retains the crit status. Crits for X slash outside of an existing crit combo are weird. If the weapon in the left hand crits, they both crit. If the weapon in the right hand crits, it decides if each weapon should crit individually.

Skills usually don't crit, but a couple do. In addition to using the weapon in your other hand, you can also swap out a weapon you've already used to another melee weapon while attacking with the weapon in your other hand. 2H swords are unique in that you can use them twice in one combo and that gives you plenty of time to swap your other weapon, but unless your target is standing still this is not quite as good as it sounds. Leveling melee weapon mastery increases crit range, so even if a weapon feels bad to crit with at first it can get better later.
>>
>>23548745
I'm honestly not sure if the switch attacks can combo forever. When I use them on the dummy I'll eventually lose my crit boost for some reason, though I suppose that could be caused by slight input delay on my part if the windows are tight? That's certainly possible but seems unlikely so I think something else is at play here. In any case the assembled form is very easy to maintain the crit bonus with forever.
>>
>>23548750
It's because of the things movements. I've missed hits that take me out of the combo too due to it falling over from stun. If you use the target signs you can combo forever
Not really plausible in a real fight now that I'm saying it out loud. But hey, it's there

>>23548755

>Caustic Edge and Demilune Slash are the only weapon skills that can continue/start a combo and allow the weapon they're attached to, to be used twice.
That's pretty cool, it seems like they count as a different weapon entirely and you can even use them after finishers from the same hand (but not X slashes) while retaining crit . So between those and the lance throw to punch you could technically do a 7-weapon crit combo (or 8 if you count switching to a 2H sword twice as two separate weapons). Also just noticed that you can just use Caustic Blade for the first hit and then the rest of the knife hits in that combo will be acidic for no extra cost; including when grabbed on, which seems like it'd be a nice way to apply it if not for wasting the extra damage that a grab would present if you'd corroded them beforehand

I mean, you just had it happen to you, so...
Seriously though, yeah. Axies likely have something similar to the RT/omega system immortals have. You'll occasionally find a soldier with higher tier gear compared to what you'd normally find at that point. In my first playthrough I ran into a random Ax in one of the overworld bases carrying a Hauteclaire (godrolled too). This was in the very first desert zone, so it kinda trivialized the early game.
>>
>>23548531
I've never encountered any bosses in facilities. It's really weird.

the collectors(?) edition outfit also doesn't hide your head

I honestly thought about ditching mutations to get it.
But this shit isn't like the first game. It takes nearly an hour to 100% all the passives.
>>
>>23549037
The mutations were also not as game changing in the first game so it was easier to skip them. You're cucking yourself hard by not getting them now.
>>
Does anyone know what's the deal with the two markers?
Pink is a cave with a locked door right at the start.
Yellow is a facility with a normal layout but the map shows a floor under the floor labelled ??? and it doesn't look like you can get to it from this facility.

>>23548801
Thanks anon, so for Beast Surge I just have to keep going to Axiom facilities or the special ones with key cards. If it's the latter, do card rarities determine what the loot inside will be? Cause I've only been doing high rarity ones, and from deduction Beast Surge seems to be a lower rarity item.
>>
I just use a mod to hide mutations, its a cool gimmick but the fact the outfit to hide them is locked till you beat the game is gay, and dlc options dont actually work so fuck it
https://www.nexusmods.com/daemonxmachinatitanicscion/mods/13
>>
>>23549054
NTA but you have to do the keycard ones and it'll come from purple and gold cards typically. I've found more beast surges in those than I know what to fucking do with. They are especially common from axiom dungeon gargoyles.
>>
I don't know what to do after beating the game, I've done just about every mission, even the ones from talking to npcs at base and now all thats left is just fight many of the world bosses but some of them completely destroy me like eclipse and the game is really not forgiving with the random drops so I cant even get the best loot, still do not have the highest tier machine guns yet.
>>
Are dungeon gargoyles spawns fixed? I went to this dungeon three times and it all spawned a grim reaper 2, so I think yes but this is still statistically insignificant.
>>
>>23549158
The drops aren't fixed, but the locations are. I have a key with a gargoyle room on the first floor.
>>
>>23549138
>but some of them completely destroy me like eclipse
So switch to story mode. You're clearly not good enough at the game to play on normal/hard.
>>
>>23549158
No, the loot pool for the gargoyles is just very small so it's quite common to get the same thing repeatedly. There's only like 5 items that can come from the things.

I restarted the game recently so it's still fresh in my mind. Yellow's hidden floor is from a sidequest. You retrieve some mysterious data, get ambushed by the Axies during a countdown and have to find another exit. Said exit is a tunnel that leads you to the mine to the far east.
That's the ??? floor.
No, the geography doesn't make sense.
No idea about pink, either I forgot about it or it's from a quest I never took.
