I was planning on getting some RG decals for my HG kits — how many models can you usually customize with one decal sheet? Will there be any leftovers? If you want to buy decal sheets that you can use across multiple kits, there are decal sheets for certain series and factions that feature a variety of markings and emblems. Some of those could do a dozen kits if you stretched them thin, maybe more, off the top of my head.

This thing is pretty good. It's not the ideal 1/100 Full Armor Hyaku Shiki Kai, but it's likely the only one we'll ever have. It was one of my never ever kits so I'm glad someone made it.I dig the inclusion of the extra thrusters binders that double as missile racks.Although it was only after I finished building it that I realized it was based on the Katoki redesign instead of the original linear which, I think, was done by Okawara. Wish it ain't so.

Maybe I've missed some. All these are very, very large kits. Before all these we had the Psyco and Dendrobium 20 years ago and the Neo Zeong 10 years ago. Getting this many high plastic volume kits in a short span of time is markedly distinct. They are in fact clearly making larger kits more frequently now. Virtually everything I just listed is larger than the average MG too, and modern MGs have a ton more plastic by volume than old MGs at that.
Tamashii can effortlessly produce figures of obscure designs like it's no big deal, while Bandai Hobby makes you trek through a desert mirage just to plead for a new mg release even then Hobby will give you an hg because you deserve punishment for even asking for a new mg.

It's really funny reading all the whining because from my perspective the past 5 or 6 years, maybe even 10 who knows I am not consulting a release spreadsheet, have been amazing. Multiple things I never thought would exist now do. Every year brings out something I've been wanting since I got into Gundam, usually multiple somethings. This is overall the best era of Gunpla for me since the early 2000s when B-Club was still active, and it's probably better than then. I would love more 1/100 releases, RE100 or MG, and back then I imagined we'd have PGs of most lead gundams so I'd really like if they got on that too, but it's crazy to imagine whining so hard constantly when there are so many great kits coming out.

Sirs, a second spoon has been fucked up. so what's fucking me up is that I didn't let the oils/enamels cure properly before adding the glue, which melted the fuck out of them and fused the pigment into the glue, so I couldn't fix the fuck up at that point. I think I can get it right next try, but I'm running close to the groupbuild deadline at this point, and having to wait at least 24 hours between layers kinda fucks me over. And I would still want to get it right in practice before I put it on the model, so that pushes me back another few days. Thinking I'll just stick with the method I normally use for painting carapace textures. Rip new experience.

It's best to work in 3 layers (all acrylic) and layer them on top of each other.1st layer - a lighter shade of the color of the part you're working on to represent paint fading, and the highlights for your chipping. This will be the biggest layer and it's okay if it's a bit sloppy at first. Use a sponge to get some random texture and a fine brush to go along the edges and corners of parts. As long as you applied a clear coat before chipping you can scrape off any extra bits of this layer with a toothpick to clean it up and refine your chipping.Second layer - A dark brown or black. This is where the paint has been worn through to the primer or metal. You should only apply this inside areas from the first layer, meaning you're gonna have to use a brush.Third layer - this is where you put the silver. Use it sparingly, only in the deepest scratches, along portions of edges, and in the corners. This is where the metal hasn't just been exposed, but worn down. Again, keep this layer inside the previous layer.Excuse the visual aid looking a bit sloppy, it took ten gorillion hours in mspaint with a mouse.
