Anybody have any recommendations for hobby-grade drill presses and bandsaws? The last few times I had to punch holes in plastic, I used an industrial-grade one that I happened to have access to. Feels like it would be significantly more convenient to have one that could fit on top of a desk though.
Anyone using a Tamiya sidecutter 123? Does it rust really fast?
>>2364702730MS kits are extremely hollow with no complexity whatsoever, which is an easy thing to make new mold for the fix. Bandai doesn't go back to fix RG Sinanju's frame, IBO HG frame and so on. If they don't bother to fix a fucking HG then a PG has zero chance.

>>23647153I think that was just a cooling issue since the part got warped rather than a fundamental issue like articulation and stability.
>>23647084I'm working on HG Hygogg. Hope there will be another kit for this guy though, this HG is a product of its time. So many hollow parts...
I wish chinks would make a bootleg of this so that I can take just its head for my other G-Self kits.

There would be more if it was mahou shojo girlpla. You know it.
>>23647270Don't bother with the retard. HG Hygogg looks disgustingly hideous, you can see hollow details under its feet and visible pegs bellow the shoulder. The only redeeming quality of this kit is that, it is old and the only kit ever existed for Hygogg.

>>23647309Man those zoukai mura kits do look nice inside but exterior detail is so bare bones its not much better than a basic bitch 1/72 kit. Plus the parts at times looks very soft with Volks signature thick ass gates.
>>23647322I know it's taboo to say on here, but I really like this. the big gimbal on the shoulder and all the piping/roll cage looking parts are doing it for me

>>23647085Trying out the RMZ line (thank you hobby lobby discounts), and I gotta say this isn't a bad kit. It's not as intricate as an HMM nor would I expect it to be. That doesn't mean it lacks detail, though the color separation could be better. Going to have to paint the pistons/springs when I assemble the legs.
>>23647322Hardly any spikes. I kinda like it
>>23647322
>>23647325I don't expect real life fighters to have bunch of cubes and bumps on the surface. Inner details give the kit weight and that's all i need.

>>23647355More talking about fasteners and rivets, 1/32 is big enough where the depictions of those wouldn't look out of scale. Zoukai mura kits are straight up missing most of them, only having the ones that are usually drilled out for maintenance.
>>23647317The fix is mainly for the torso and some hinge joints. It is not a complete glowup.

>>23647384Bro, you're not going to make it in time for bio groupbuild
>>23647367Well shit. I wanted to get RG with upgrage but now have doubts about it
>>23647300>it is old and the only kit ever existed for Hygogg. That is incorrect though anon, we had the 1/144 Gundam 0080 series Hygogg as well, along with SD Gacha Hygogg. As for the HG, it is perfectly serviceable. Better accuracy to the lineart than the Old Kit version, great balance and articulation and easy to break into sub assemblies for painting. The only reall issues are some parts that need filling (like the soles of the feet that you showed) and a couple of awkward seams to weld and fill.
>>23647300feet are supposed to be on the ground
>>23647430It is low quality for early 2000s standard. Ofcourse it is servicable, however, being an ok-ish slop is not that big of an achievement. I hope there will be a modern kit for it, even if it is greebled as shit.
I want to pause a project just after the gloss coat. Would laying it on some paper towels in a plastic container and storing it away from sunlight be enough? I'm still putting together the tools needed to weather it, and I don't expect to interact with it for months.
>>23647407The arms and legs of RG Sinanju are the least terrible thing about that kit. Having minimal upgrade is better than nothing at all.
>>23647444The only HGUC marine zeke kit that really holds up poorly is the Z'Gok Experimental. I can't speak for the Juaggu (I only have the old kit) but the rest hold up beautifully (and the Z'Gok E's issues are more related to unconventional posing and play, it is still a lovely looking kit when assembled). I still yearn for an HGUC Agguguy and HGUC Capule along with an updated Z'Gok E before they even think about doing an update on Hygogg.
>>23647268It will, seethe more nightmarekek
>>23647317>>23647367>>23647407These "upgrade" parts are barely better than the original kits parts. The only one that made a big improvement is the hip replacement section for the RG 00 kits. Everything else has awful QC/fitment, requires you to snip various parts of the old kit off and ends up being immediately loose. You also have to glue one or two parts on which is pointless since you could just glue the original kit. All the videos out there on them are Korean/Chinese and of course the Chinese videos say it fixes it while the Korean videos say it's a mess.
>>23647454Zgok E is janky, but it is not some sort of unholy abomination. The proportion is ass though.
>>23647320>>23647322I wish the chinese companies released smaller original kits with the same level of detail. It's either fuckhuge "1/100" kits or 2000's level HG kits.
>>23647471Sheik Mainland and SNAA are serving that niche. Go for Number 57 if you want pocket sized kits.

everyone should prepare themselves for when Duos wins the next theme
>>23647485
Gramps and G3 always get new models kitsbut where's the love for the real first Gundam?>inb4 GQ-doesn't count
>>23647477SNAA are sort of there but as much as people keep calling them RG kits, they really aren't and that's what I'm looking for. The problem with the "1/100" chinese kits is that they're usually always much bigger than Bandai MG kits so you you need a lot of room just to display a few of them. TEST-70 Bailu not too long ago and it looks great but it takes up so much volume in terms of space.
How do I prep rubber cables for painting? I can't exactly sand it because the surface gets ripped apart and even the cleanest knifework would still leave evidence that there were nubs there.
>color guide has like 6 or 7 paints that are unobtainable outside of Japan and have no direct equivalent from any other brandhate this shit
>>23647505Nevermind the nubmark, there are mold lines to, usually on the center, and that's really fucking ugly.
>>23647509Mix shit yourself
>>23647514He's going to throw a schizo fit at you for daring to imply that it's possible to mix paints.
>>23647485Nearly at the goal, I just need to do some weathering.
>>23647509How many paints?
>>23647501For Chang OCs, i think it is best to not be greedy and just display around 2 or 3 of them, while the other sits in the box. I collect figurines too and i can tell you, they tower most of my Chang kits. The space will always be always be the limitation.
has there ever been a bootleg of a chang oc? like changception
>>23647465Have you built it or you're judging by what other said? I've checked various sources and for example it's highly praised on r*ddit, while on bilibili some people said that this makes the kit "barely passable"
>>23647529There's a bootleg action figure of a chinese Arcee kit.
>>23647501Bailu is still the sleek one. Things like Nemesis and Sky Defender will eat away most of your display space.
>>23647318
>>23647485kek
>>23647529Not quite OC, but alot of plastic kits were made based on stolen resin kit design. The recent Jeddah kit was stolen from a 3D artist, who also infringed copyright by selling Gundam's designs under different names.
>>23647531I bought the RG00 replacement kit. The hip part is easily the best part of it, the rest of it you might as well throw out. For example, out of the box the RG 00 kits have no issue holding their arms up, it's only after putting them in poses where the arms/legs are under tension that they start to loosen up like all the MS-joint RGs. The replacement arms were immediately loose depending on the pose and you had to cut parts of the shoulder armour away to make it fit. I found an english review where you can see for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tq_zky0ORQ4

>>23647536Huh, the PGU Goose isn't as big as I thought it would be. I should build mine sometime.
>>23647554Only the Gouf is worth voting for, nothing's gonna come close
>>23647551Damn. I really wand a Sinanju kit but I don't like how knees of HG look like and its lack of gimmicks. RG is a mess. MG is fine I guess but it's probably too big for my shelf and it'll take me forever to paint it
>>23647558You did a great job of making something that portrays genuine body horror disgust.
>>23647559Spending time detailing the HG is probably the best option. It's the Sinanju with the least amount of issues.
>>23647561I didn't, it's some other guy's work. My shit's nowhere near as good
>>23647557Don't be fooled by the camera distortion. It is almost as tall as PG Unicorn, which is one of the tallest PG so far.
>>23647578I know it's technically not a goose, but that would mean it's completely out of scale, wouldn't it? Though again, technically not a goose so it doesn't matter. I think most of us are buying it because of the novelty of a 1/60 notGoose™.
>>23647582I can see some Tallgeese inspiration, but it looks too different from the actual thing so it falls into OC category.
I think that the strike gundam was a better rework of gramps than the nu.
>>23647585Well you're fucking wrong, Zhang
>>23647454The Z'Gok E netted me a win and a tie with the Groupbuild contests, so I'll always have a soft spot for that kit. It's cheap, too!
>>23647584>some>SOMEIt's blatantly a Tallgeese with a retarded name and tons of changification to try to skirt around bandai's assassins. It's obviously not a 1:1 Tallgeese scaled up by no names and there is no argument against that. Unless your claim is that they changified it so much that it became an OC then I can probably agree with that.I like how chang also included the cockpit handle. What is even the purpose of that? To allow a Gundam to grab the Tallgeese?
>>23647605Why do they even care about Bandai assassins? I thought china was like the Wild West of copyright infringement and they can get away with anything because the government doesn’t stop them
>>23647558I forgot about this and now I'm mad that I'm going to lose.
>>23647610Sometimes they do get their shit slapped for copyright infringement. >Dragon Momoko, perhaps the largest of these, recently got raided by the Chinese police, with molds and unsold product being confiscated while the owner was arrested. In other words, Bandai and Sunrise had them shut down over unlicensed product.https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/dragon-momoko-raided-and-owner-arrested.1128775/
>>23647614Wth why? I thought china was based
>>23647617Not even God knows why sometimes the chinese will agree to enforce it.
>>23647605The thing about Tallgeese is that, if you remove its unique proportion and the face then it is just a generic mecha Roman warrior. Just like what your picture shown, the color is different, the face is different, the legs are different. It is just an OC that vaguely resembles Tallgeese.
>>23647485Entry?
>>23647623We're not having this argument.
Just finished building the Max Factory Bushman, you anons weren't joking when you said the plastic quality was dog water bad. Thinking of painting it Christmas colors for decor since articulation is a joking and it keeps popping out at the right knee and torso.
>>23647638Why?
>>23647621These raids are all conducted by the Shanghai police. CCP has been trying to replace HK with Shanghai as a foreigner-friendly hub so their courts and police helping Bandai and Hasbro is part of that. https://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1164060.shtmlUnfortunately(or fortunately) it's really one city that is doing this. They literally have to travel all the way down to Southern China and raid the factories themselves (who probably get tipped off by the local police). It's no coincidence that when Shanghai was too busy with covid lockdowns, Daban and all the KOs started coming back.
>>23647638If you are familiar with Chang OCs, they mostly resembling something. This guy looks almost like Gernsback from FMP for example.
>>23647514I tried but I can't manage to mix anything close to the same colorThe result almost always looks darker and much less saturated
>>23647638We are having this argument.
>>23647500
>>23647085Finished the Osiris. Chest LEDs still need to be fixed. I think skipping the decals is the right call, with all the plastic surface details. Might change my mind later so I'm holding onto them.
Do I have bad taste if I like this kind of greeble
>>23647681It's okay.
>>23647680Stand can kinda make it airborne, but the ab crunch really wants to go with the shoulder weight. Beam saber mold is really cool. Bandai needs to update SB-13 and the 1/100 equiv (3?).
>>23647683Marida No! You can't kill Haman! She is in the wrong scale! Also I guess revenge is wrong.
>>23647683>>23647680How can Bandai ever compete unironically?
>>23647685they design the robots. chang will never make an original model that doesn't look like trash
>>23647685By making an anime accurate 1/100 queen mansa
>>23647685By being a giant company with thousands of loyal paypigs
>>23647688>nu-bandai>making a new 1/100Lol
>>23647685>PGU Nu GundamBandai can't compete, not any more. They're regressing. Chang may still have some loose joints here and there but they have the excuse of being bootlegs. Or alternatively the Re/100 denan whatever looks like an upscaled HG from the 2010s.
>>23647685Bandai kits are much more pleasant to assemble. Also found a place to put it. Don't mind the Unicorn as the Chinese metal frame it has the arm so loose it completely droops and I haven't had a chance to try and fix it as the acrylic paint I tried came off without primer and I don't have any metal primer on hand.
>>23647694With how big its wings are, I keep forgetting that the Kshatriya is a manlet among the bulky robots.
>>23647693This is so funny to me. Who would you think would win: a billion dollar toy company? Or a couple Chang bootleggers with nothing but some stolen bandai intellectual property, some chinesium, and the power of friendship.
>>23647691denan gei
>>23647698Passion projects usually turn out better than "jobs". Why do you think quality even varies at Bandai? Katoki obviously loves what he produces, and whoever runs the F90 release run does. But the guys cranking out some of Bandai's other releases obviously are just doing it as someone just said "make this model".
>>23647694I'm the opposite. I enjoy challenging assembly over the easy ones. Chinese kits are close, but nothing beats the traditional glue kits with bunch of micro parts.
>>23647704What are some other gundam model kits where you can really feel the passion of the creator? I feel like the mg turn a is like that, but the mg jegan is one of those “just make the model” kits.
>>23647641fuck i thought this line was decent
>>23647707>MG JeganThat's funny, the Jegan is pretty lackluster in terms of surface detail (as it should be) but the build was simple and enjoyable when I got it. I remember another kit I was working on had me tired and annoyed, then I built the jegan and it was refreshing.
>>23647674Wasn't that only a one time print back in 2014 or something for P-Bandai?
why do they make so many megaman literal who kits but none of this or t. bonne
>>23647707how much do you really expect from a jegan?
>>23647706My thumbs have been hurting for the past two weeks, I should have bought rubber covered pliers to deal with it. I shouldn't have to need that. I don't mind the parts I needed to glue/sand a bit, I do that on some Bandai kits also.>>23647707Obviously I said Katoki, but the Zeta ver Ka was done by a bunch of people who liked the original art. Visually good, solid despite transforming, and fun to build.RG God/Shining also were very pleasent to build even if they look different than lineart. The designers liked not needing to deal with the weapons and focus entirely on the kit being able to balance on itself in a ton of poses. I think it was similar with the HG GQux as despite the weird design, it's also an oddly solid kit so they worked a bunch on it.A counter example would be the HG Penelope. It has random color correction needed despite the parts being big and a runner of the right color already being in the box that wasn't very large. It also isn't even stable on its included stand.
>>23647707>the mg jegan is one of those “just make the model” kits.It originally was previewed as a RE/100 before they decided to make it into a proper MG, so it makes sense they half assed it. Bandai really didn't want to make a MG Jegan for some retarded reason and it shows.
>>23647713>rubber covered pliersAre these like the rubber covers for vices?
>>23647701Upscaled HG's don't count
>>23647714>originally was a re/100That singular photo is questionable. You should stop treating it as gospel. And as for not wanting to make an MG of it, they sure as hell have enough MG variants of it. I think we're at 3 or 4 now?
>>23647707Old PGs
>>23647713Also had a thought about PGs. PG Exia was done by some people who loved the design, but the Unicorn was more phoned in where they let the suits push features that hurt the kit and/or didn't make the features work well. Might be a similar thing with the PGU RX-78 and the Nu>>23647715I think they are for electrical work, but I found some on Amazon that I ordered on Friday with some other stuff. I have soft covers for my proper vise for gun maintenance work, but that's far to big/strong for plastic like this. They might make something similar for smaller tabletop vices.
>>23647485just started mine. time to ask for an extension!
>>23647713>Zeta ver Ka was done by a bunch of people who liked the original artThen why it doesn't look like one?
>>23647132Titans Blue 1 and 2, MS Yellow, any bright red (I like Italian Red), Phantom GrayThat's what I've used for my Titans paintjobs at least
>>23647707MG Zaku 2.0 and MG RX-78 2.0Both of these kits featured extensive slide molding and well thought out panel placement to keep seams to minimal. Not only for the body/ms it self mind you but also the weapons a rarity even now. Highly intricate yet solid inner frames that provided an excellent range of articulation and great looks by them selves. Frames so good that bandai kept recycling and reusing them for subsequent UC mgs. Really just the mid to late 2000s was definitely peak for bandai engineering as a whole.

>>23647738Shield too small, would not bang
>>23647681The person who made that knows what they are doing, which is when greebles are good. They are bad when its someone that arbitrarily sticks random detail parts all over something. Their is an art to it.
>>23647738>head is too narrow, face is too long>chest is too angular and narrow, blue part is just wrong in every way>vortex generators>yellow collar is too short, you barely can see it>blue parts on arms are smaller, fist are smaller>shield is too thinNot to mention how bad vawerider looks
>>23647738Damn I actually like the Ver.Ka version and I'm not a Zeta fan
>>23647707MG Gundam Mk V
>>23647738Don't bother engaging with the lineart accuracy retards. Nothing will ever be accurate enough and they'll bitch over the smallest details which would look like complete shit on a real life model. They want kits to look like badly drawn renders/cells with fucked proportions where the chest looks like it's melting and one arm and leg are 3 times bigger than the others.
>>23647759Then why lie how they loved original line art and made the model close to it?

>>23647712The nemo getting a lavish MG kit is the real head-scratcher. Aside from being the eternal rival to the Barzam I don't see it getting a lot of love other than the AEUG's GM.
>>23647770It's the Ver Ka or the original HG Zeta, not the revive version. None of them are perfect but the Zeta also constantly changes how it looks so it really depends on what you're comparing the kit to. In most of the anime, it's got a super long face, which the ver ka goes for, but then it's more normal if someone else is drawing it. This is the issue with accuracy on old designs in general, the look of a unit will vary massively depending on who draws it or what media it's in. The RG for example looks very close to how it looked in Dynasty Warriors Gundam, which isn't how it looked in the anime, which isn't how it looked in various other zeta related media.
