>>23747804you'd can either cut out the V-shaped area around where the monoeye goes into to preserve some surface detail or just cut that whole piece off to save some time, and then you scratchbuild the eye itself since the part will be useless.there's a hole that the original eye piece fits into so you can adapt that into a balljoint and just have a long rod that acts as the monoeye, then use some tweezers to adjust it. not a huge amount of work but it'll be a good introduction into part modification.

Kind of a stupid question but all my foreign orders thus far have had the tariff stuff handled automatically. If I were to order something from Japan and select fedex, do they send you an email re: the tariffs they can you then pay? building the 30mm armored core kits as my first gunpla kits, i was interesting in eventually panel lining and top coating but wondering if they look ok with a mtte topcoat or to go for something more glossy -- also with panel lining is it better to use gundam markers or those tamiya droppers? the latter sounds harder to fuck up but ive heard that they're only really used if you're planning on painting

>>23748052Tamiya is easier to fuck up, but it has to mostly do with plastic type and I'm pretty sure all 30MM kits are pure PS which is the right plastic type. Either works, but Gundam markers might run with the top coat. Also generally matte is the default texture you should go for. Gloss/satin should be used when you are going for specific things. Like the OP image where it is purposely trying to be shiny. Or a smooth fighter like the Macross robots. ACs are pretty gritty, which makes Matte appropriate for most of the parts. If you painted and added metallic accents - you might want those to be gloss, to stand out against the matte armor for example.
