-=READ THE GUIDES=-

Welcome to the Gunpla/Plamo General!

For those new, please read our guides. We have many resources available to help you in many different aspects of the hobby. They're here for you!

For the unclear, "plamo" is short for "plastic model". "Gunpla" is thus short for "Gundam plastic model". Many different kinds of models are built here, ranging from mecha to planes, cars, musume, you name it! If you're new, you're gonna screw up. Don't worry! If you're seasoned, don't make the newbies worry!

And don't forget to report shitposting and spam. The mods don't browse /m/ too often, so it's up to YOU to help keep our general clean and civil!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Be more specific, and try to provide clear images if you can.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data when images are uploaded, including the orientation tag if it's from your phone. To fix it save out your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.
One easy to use app that works well on Android:

-= ACE CUSTOM GROUPBUILD =-

Build, customize, and paint a grunt mobile suit up for use by an ace pilot.
>You are taking the role of the Ace Pilot here - You're making the design choices when it comes to loadout, paint scheme, and suit customizations.
>Think about what your Ace specializes in, is he all in on offensive power, speed and maneuverability, or bulk and defense?
>While your pilot is an ace, he's not so special that he's getting super secret prototypes like Gundams or Mobile Armors. Keep your grunt relatively grounded to whatever setting it's from.

Send your entries to gunplaplamo@gmail.com with at least 5 photos of your finished build along with any WIP photos and a description of your entry.

So I looked up some videos of the Daban bootleg for MG Gray Zeta, and apparently unlike Bandai they were smart enough not to include the parts for the Hyper Mega Launcher or Beam Rifle. So that option is gone for me. Still, I liked that Evolve episode, so I might contemplate snagging one anyways, if only so that I can use it for a testbed for chrome coating.

Is the HGAW Double X any good? The movement in its giant shoulders seems a bit limited, and I know nothing about the show, but color-wise it reminds me of the Mk-II as well as the F91 which I both like. And it's somehow cheaper than the regular X for some reason.

Is it possible to use the Daban Super Gundam’s G-Defensor with the normal Gundam Mk.2 2.0?

>>
>>23778900
There is Height, Width and Depth for dimensions.
Height - Feet to Head
Width - Left to Right
Depth - Front to Back.
The MG FA Unicorn is deeper than it is tall even with the weapons all on the backpack.

calling an object "really deep" to imply occupying a single dimension is just not what anyone does. There are occasions you might call a space that, but not a general object. "Long" is what you use.

Also, I don't get why Armored Core kits have 30MM label. They don't use their connection system, they are not simplified but instead really rich in details. Good stuff.

>>23778932

stat of california?!
>>
>>23778958
I literally only speak English faggot. I referred to it as deep, as locating it is annoying due to the depth of shelf you need for it. I don't use "long" for things that usually aren't longer than they are wide and tall as often HxWxD dimensions are interpreted with height or width being the longest side. This is different for something like a missile or plane as those commonly (always?) have their longest side be their depth.
Complaining about this and not understanding it intuitively is giving yourself away as ESL, as this is a "use words differently based on context" scenario that ESLs usually never learn.
Just like how if I ever learned Japanese I would sound like a retarded as I would talk in context of anime characters and not normal day to day people.

>>23778945
The dimension of "big" is different than the normal "big", especially since the FA Unicorn is also "big" in the usual dimensions.

Did more weathering and added some streaking with a burnt umber oil paint. Quite decent for being my first time, I think.
>>
>>23778990
>>23778973

Sometimes Bandai will do weird attempts at brand unity or maybe it was to make these kits stand out next to Kotobukiya.
>>
>>23779052
I mildly disagree with your artistic choice because that's Char's Z'gok which was used like once and would be treated like a trailer queen as the personal suit of the red comet, while your weathering looks like a beater suit that's been bought by a fisherman and used to collect lobster traps every day for 30 years without ever even being washed.
>>
Wouldn't underwater mobile suits be engineered to be rust proof? I can see it being muddy, but imagine if they didnt rust proof this shit.
>>
>>23779064
that looks more like something that you would find on a mak kit
>>
>>23779052
Hell yeah bro, I love it.
>>
>>23779065
Rust proofing on steel is a coating that inevitably wears off, and alloys that don't rust are generally not practical to use in the scales needed for ships or in this case giant robots.
>>
>>23779064

I've got a couple of the Motor Nuclear ones. I rate them. They're basically just MGs with a lot of spikes. Haven't really had any issues with them in building or anything. The biggest problem is a lot of parts come prepainted, so you've gotta paint over a lot of things that have already been painted to get certain details to pop up.

Interestingly enough, that "we're showing you x and y but really we're selling x" trick is why I'm worried about the ebay listing. It's surely just an action base or a singular gundam marker they're selling while they have eight listings of 7 dollar Fuunsaikis, they have 90%+ good ratings but that could be made up as well. With aliexpress I'm at least vaguely aware of some of the Chinese tricks, but ebay is a completely different and unknown warzone to me

Huh, holy shit I didn't know that, that's pretty fucking cool. Though honestly that kind of takes the fun out of trying to do it myself.

Doing a bit more digging, it looks like it was never considered in HG scale, and if you want to do it "authentically" you would need not only the Quess Air Jagd Doga, but also Rezin's Geara Doga (for the arm and commander-type beam rifle) and the P-Bandai Sleeves EWAC Zack/Gaza-C/Geara Doga package (for the single Sleeves wrist part). I guess if you print yourself some custom waterslides you could do without the P-Bandai kit, but now I'm wondering if the Geara Doga is in print or in stock anywhere at all.

The wing binders are sketchy and the sliding blade bits pop out of their little track inside with only the tiniest bit more force than it takes to actually lock them in the open position, taking the front of the shield off the bottom of the cockpit is really sketchy because the bottom of the cockpit isn't really attached to the top and you have nothing to grab on to, those little sliding back plates, forcing the back of the hips in to the little socket on the back, and especially compressing and lengthening the forearms all require so much force that it raises my blood pressure, the hips are really wobbly and prone to falling apart under their own weight when not locked in either fully transformed position and getting it fully locked back in to the untransformed position basically requires you to memorize and understand exactly what's going on in them mechanically.
And shit, it's still the best one.

NTA but while I don't hate it I was kinda let down by it as (at the time) one of the only new Kampfers we'd ever gotten
What let me down is that the add-on boxes are pretty boring and it just didn't really do much interesting to the body. I don't care for the yellow panel-thruster-vent-things on the shoulders and knees, they just don't work for me with the normal thrusters still around, and the legs lost a lot of the interesting curvature with the new shins. The arms did too and didn't really gain anything for it. Woulda been cool to have gatling, or maybe something like the Gouf Custom's triple-barreled gun that hides under the gatling. But desu I'd forgive much more if it just had a variety of accessory weapons bolted to it, more than anything I think that's the hallmark of the Kampfer. Even with "full loadout" it just looks dull compared to if they were different weapons.

It just storing the little variety it does have in the binders is what makes me sad. It'd look rad with an Armored Core style backmounted gatling gun or something. They could do a lot.

>Zakus bazookas instead of Rick Dom bazookas
Maaan, crazy opinion honestly, couldn't disagree more. The Zaku bazookas are neat but the RDII bazookas are some of the best bazooka designs to me.

Tbh I buy the Chink kits for the (you)s when posting WIP pictures, although Harute was the only movie suit that I liked design wise. Although embarrassingly enough I never realized it got extra equipment for the final battle in the movie as the HG00 kit doesn't have the leg boosters.

>Maaan, crazy opinion honestly, couldn't disagree more. The Zaku bazookas are neat but the RDII bazookas are some of the best bazooka designs to me.
I've been told I'm weird like that. It irks me that the Rick Dom Bazookas can't be fired from the Kampfer's back as well, so I've been imagining smaller but maybe a more useful type of back armament in its place, sort of like a "Kampfer Cannon" analogue.

I’m a bit confused about why they didn't go all out with the Metal Sazabi, and the white beam rifle seems like a very odd choice.

>the MG is also okay
>joints constructed from thin abs plates held together by screws so they'll all break if you look at them funny
>ball in polycap ankles and arms so it'll be falling apart after a year on the shelf tops
>almost entirely blue plastic, covered in horrible nubs with the gates supersized and placed for maximum visibility
>70 degree knee bend on a good day
>head is just on a floppy hinge
Still considering buying the ones that have been sitting on the shelf at the local since the first time I went in there because the kampfer fucks but I'd have to like.. 3d print new joints for it and commit to filing down the armor and separating the thigh thrusters so they can get out of the way of the knee bend, at the very least

Just snapshidded my Sarg. I have a few complaints about this kit. It has a few fitment issues (joints are WAY too tight, some pieces dont slide in without trimming/sanding) and there's a few awkward gaps in the armor that I'm gonna have to fill. Otherwise it's alright.
>>
>>23780226
Those aren't really cannons, they're weapon binders. The Kampfer Amazing has modular weapons that swap between handguns, SMGs, and long-range rifles, with the attachments stored in the binders.
>>
Even Zak and the giga glazer MGK don't build SMP kits because they know how trash that line is
>>
It's not that chinkpla have fitment issues, it's just that Bandai has fitment EXCELLENCE.

most modelers outside of gunpla take pride in their kits being absolute hot garbage that don't even have quality control and great engineering to excuse charging a high price for pouring plastic in to a mold and then throwing the resulting sprues in a box.
>wha? your cartoon robot model has parts separated in to color accurate panels that all press fit together out of the box without hours of sanding and cutting away poorly fitting seams and then cementing them together just so they actually fit? that's for babies!

From their website, or a webstore retailer? I've always bulk ordered from their website because their prices are slightly better than webfront stores, don't charge tax, and give you free shipping if you buy more than $80 of shit in a single purchase. They also do holiday sales like twice a year where you get 30% off waterslides.

Though granted, in my particular case it works because of my fuckhuge backlog, if you don't have that many kits then you don't need to buy in bulk.
