Finished up 1966 as I'm just starting on Ultraman.Unique, I'm not used to Showa toku but it definitely has that blood of a pioneer being more a show about the Science Team than Ultraman. I don’t mind Zero getting new forms but they all kinda become pointless after awhile. Ultimate (the gift from Noa) was supposed to be his strongest form and then he gets an actual OP God form (Shining) that he can stack Ultimate on top of. He gets two form changes (SC and LM) as a weird mutation side effect from Saga. Beyond is the power of his successors but its weaker than Ultimate and Shining. Who knows what the fuck Wild Burst is supposed to do. at least with the modern ultras their forms made sense and served a specific purpose.

I think part of it is a combination of Ultra collectibles not being very interesting and not being very heavily shilled in the show. Compare to Rider, Sentai, and now Gavan Infinity where the trinkets are constantly shoved in your face and are often a central plot driver for the series. You don't really get that same feeling in Ultra shows.

Finally got around to the Arc movie. I feel like the Guil Arc portion should have been the meat of the story if not the whole movie. The other two "trials" were kind of dumb and boring, meanwhile the character arc portion with Shu was kind of glossed over and him gaining control over Guil Arc and fighting alongside Arc to beat Repo went way too fast.
