I dunno if it's just MMPR nostalgia but I still think Zyuranger is a pretty solid series. It's only problem is that it's sandwiched between two top tier sentais.Kind of similar to Goseiger's problem now that I think about it.

So when they stop airing those in the 90s, the tokusatsu genre may as well have died to them, because it was not feasible to look up information or subs on what Japan had in 1992 there. Or they pivoted into MMPR nostalgia, and exclusively buy/watch MMPR with a dose of "back in my day Metal Heroes was the best thing ever".The secondary factor is that even if you look at the younger side of the viewers, like the ones that came in on Jiraya, most of the population also doesn't know English, doesn't do much online, and doesn't know how to download anything. So they're not a 57 year old sipping cheap alcohol saying Juspion was the peak of television, but they're 39 and haven't downloaded anything that isn't an MP3 file.Couple that with the usual prejudice against newer seasons that don't have the "Showa-era grit", and even the ones that know English, know how to download, and could download subbed episodes will refuse to do so because it "isn't the same". Which is the point.
