Zecora thread
I guess I’ll start. I really like Zecora. She is very kind and always helpful, and in my opinion, the ponies don’t really help her as much as they should.Wish we got to know more about where she came from.

That could also help explain why only Twilight knew what a zebra was and not Applejack or Rainbow Dash. Manehattan is a very large city and almost certainly a major center of trade, so if zebras did much trade Applejack probably would've at least knew of their existence. And Rainbow Dash was friends with Gilda, who probably either lives in or came from another country, so Dash would also be more knowledgeable about the rest of the world. But if zebras and their alchemy originated science but don't have a significant presence in other ways it would make sense that only Twilight, who has studied science, would know of them.Perhaps while they did develop science they have a shamanistic culture that created much elitism and deference to authority, causing science to remain relegated to being something of the ruling class and preventing it from permeating throughout society. This would explain why they wouldn't be more developed and thus interconnected with the rest of the world. It would also fit with the Hermetic roots of science through alchemy.

>>41213653I also imagine that other shamans speak in rhyme. Writers typically add characteristics that was unique to a person and add it to everyone else. Keeping it to just shamans adds to their mystifying nature. Or maybe Zecora's just a tard and speaks in rhymes to make her seem interesting.

Regardless how tastefully it's done, it will never be acceptable the professionally offended and their mobile goalposts.There's a growing trend in American academia where male scientists are refusing to collaborate with female scientists, this has been implicated as a side effect of the #metoo movement. I honestly wonder if something similar is going to happen in the realm of fiction, whereby the entire continent of Africa is simply memory holed in order to sidestep any controversy.
