Trying to get into Tamers but his episodes' themes and plotlines randomly go back and forth in such a violent manner that it gives me thematic whiplash to the point where I can't really keep up. I started by watching Flora's episodes because her design interested me, but it feels like they go all over the place with her development. Like, her relationship with her sister in the Bakery video ends with it looking very sour and with Manic spelling out that its best to let people in your life go if they don't want you, which is the main point of the entire episode. So, naturally, you'd think that Flora would distance herself from her sister the same way that Manic learned to do so with Sonic, but instead the M3GAN episode has them snuggling up together. And then in the school fight episode Mindy tells Flora that no one likes her and that she should basically stop talking to the people she calls her friends, as well as tripping her after the talk. If the M3GAN episode didn't exist then this behavior would make more sense, but the two acted on good terms there so having Mindy act like that to Flora now just seems bizarre. In the school fight episode, as an isolated video separate from the series, everything from the beginning to when flora walks out of the school after being pummeled is absolute kino peak. Everything has perfect linearity - Mindy tells Flora that no one wants her around and that they dislike spending time with her, this is backed up by Sonia and the rest of the schoolgoers' actions, with Sonia straight up telling Flora that she should kill herself and that no one cares about her - which, again, lines up with what Mindy says. The events that transpire from the beginning of the episode to Flora leaving all have consistent characterization and paints a very solid picture of Flora's status in society; a jealous/bitter outcast loser who no one likes that can't fit in no matter how hard she tries. This establishment is contradicted in the very same episode's epilogue where Sonia goes to try and smooth things over with Flora. Why? Sonia and Mindy straight up told Flora that she was worthless and not at all a part of the friend group, with Sonia's tirade very clearly spelling out that she doesn't like Flora. Sonia trying to reconnect with Flora just doens't make any sense to me taking the rest of the episode into account especially when she says "We all love you just the way you are :)". Like, what the fuck?

It's not unlike some dude having fantasies of marrying a stranger who smiled at them on the bus, when that's just courteous behavior. She's jealous of Sonia being surrounded by people that love her, but rather than change who she is, Flora tried to replace Sonia. Flora doesn't understand that getting people to like you starts with liking one's self first. She also doesn't understand that not everyone will like her, because she's been taught incorrectly how "love" works (beyond not knowing the types of love). Jesus' love is unconditional; other people's love isn't.Mindy wants to give Flora a chance, but Flora spits in her face every time. Mindy made an effort to know Flora's interests (the bakery), but then Flora went full-autist about it and ruined the moment. Flora condemns her sisters' lifestyles and doesn't make an effort to at least "try" because she's so uncompromising. It's like that one kid who tattles on his friends for sharing skunk weed when they're 13 because it's "wrong".Friendship is a two-way street. Compromises need to be made for a friendship to work. If a compromise can't be reached, then you can't be friends. That's what Flora doesn't get and refuses to learn. She wants people to bend to her standards, rather than changing her point of view to accommodate them. Then, she plays the victim when she gets called out for it.

She had the choice of either continuing to languish in the way that things were or to take matters into her own hands and do something about it, and her reward for rejecting the status quo and trying to break free of her passivity was a public beat down. Flora's character is a representation of losers and outcasts, people rejected and broken by life because they're starving for something they simply don't have the tools to acquire. It was so wonderfully written before the Epilogue fucked it all up and retconned most of the shit that had transpired. A villain arc or suicide would have been more fitting. I think now he's trying to set up Flora for something resembling a villain arc, but its extremely hollow and lifeless now after the epilogue along with other events after it. He missed the prime time to start it.

She's a symbol for everyone who ever felt ashamed, guilty, or disgusted with themselves for not being what they perceive everyone else wants them to be. Flora can't make everyone love her, and not everyone wants to love her. But in that final hug with her and Sonia, there was one person who does love her just as she is, and truly meant it.Those are words that everyone should hear at least once in their life.

She was shunned before her jealousy manifested itself. Nothing changes in Flora's behavior whenever Sonia offers the olive branch other than acknowledging that she hurt her. She doesn't change as a person, she just admits that she was jealous. This jealousy is overcome by Sonia offering to be her friend, giving her the very thing she was jealous over and thus removing any reason to be jealous. But if she didnt acquire that friendship she would remain jealous. Flora's actions pre-epilogue were the result of someone who existed without anyone loving her for who she is, and her disgracefully walking out of the school was the conclusion to her lashing out at everyone due to the pain derived from this state of being. Sonia saying that they'd always been friends is ridiculous and undermines the very point of her acting out in the first place. Flora is told, straight to the face, even before the phone incident that the people she thinks are her friends don't think she is theirs and that nobody wants to be around her. Why would she love the people in her life when she's clearly told they don't love her? People exist that are unloved! This was the point of her character! People exist that will always fail to be loved! Rather than accepting this state of being, tacking on a forced happy ending spits on all the events that transpired before it! Some people simply have to accept that they don't have a single person that loves them, and that was the point of the chain of events that led up to her walking out!
