It has less even to do with the religions themselves more than it does teaching children how to be spiritually literate. Preparing kids for these ideas let's them understand what they mean, why they're considered important, and how to integrate them in their lives. The irony of the "shut up about religion" thing is it ultimately is the same as the "be loud as possible" angle. Either way kids are given misperceptions about spirituality and are left to fend for themselves in an increasingly predatory world full of cults. (Just to specify- I am not advocating for any one religion. Or even any religion at all. But the "atheism" imported from western media is evangelical in its philosophy. A properly spiritually educated generation will be able to use spiritual concepts in a way that's realistic in and outside of religions.)
