Realized the other day that there's a bit of a parallel between Applejack's cutie mark origin story and the parable of the prodigal sons. Anybody else see links between FiM episodes and stories from the Bible?
>>
Twilight looked like a Jesus figure in the climax of the movie where she descends with the staff

Discord has a serpentine look and corrupts ponies with temptation and knowledge that brings uncertainty

I doubt either of these are conscious Biblical references though, more like these sorts of archetypes from the Bible are so ingrained in public consciousness they tend to show up in pop culture

Not sure if it's uploaded yet, but there was a guy who presented a Biblical case with Luna during this year's Mare Fair.

The prodigal son is basically every story that exists.

>things are some way
>character has conflict with that
>events happen
>character and/or world change a bit
>a more stable situation exists and generally character finds a new home, or accepts a destiny on the road which is functionally similar.

>jesus leaves haven
>bullshit happens
>jesus goes home

Not exactly 1 to 1, but most villains stories do depict a message that even if you fall into sin, if you decide to embrace the virtues of Christ you will be forgiven, if not reborn in Him. And what happens when you reject that embrace

>erm, if you reduce things down to absurd amounts, every story is just the same
No shit sherlock, all stories can be boiled down to
>thing happened
Fucking redditor

Amending Fences is based on the Parable of the Lost Sheep. Twilight drops everything to bring home the one that abandoned friendship.

Maybe Fluttershy kicking out the Breezies is an archetype of the expulsion of the Jews from Judea during the time of the Romans? I dunno.

>Son takes inheritance from father
>Carelessly spends it all elsewhere on hedonistic lifestyle
>Famine strikes, is found wanting
>In desperation, even shares the feed of pigs for sustenance
>Figures he'd rather no longer consider himself a son and return to father as a servant than continue as-is without dignity
>Father runs to him with open arms as soon as he can see him from afar, calls for a celebration with the best that they have
>Other son questions why the ill-behaved brother gets this treatment while he, having been a goody-goody all this time, doesn't
>Father reminds him that he's always been around to share in his wealth, but the son who'd lost himself is now found again
>Complements preceeding stories of a shepherd that leaves his flock of ninety-nine to find one lost sheep, or the woman who holds a celebration over finding one lost silver coin out of ten
>Heaven likewise rejoices over just one person who's found than the already just that need no finding
You can boil things down to a point but beyond that you lose nuance and meaning. Similarly I couldn't describe FiM in a single sentence simply praising or condemning it since so many moving parts made it what it ultimately finished off as
>>41591601
That being said, the most I can boil this down to while being harmonious with both stories is:
>One of two siblings decides to go elsewhere
>Ends up starving, finds conviction to return
>Is happily welcomed home
Close, but certainly not one-to-one

>conflict happens
>conflict is resolved
Woah, you're right anon

Nightmare Moon is basically pony Lucifer. Except, you know, if there were a part where Jesus punched him in the face and made him repent.

Might be something to this one

Remember that time Celestia burned down Appleloosa because Braeburn tried flirting with her guards?

MLP G4 was the passion project of a Jewess. Was.
