>>41721473well, what you're looking for is called a power stroke. in Inkscape you go to paths -> path effects (or Ctrl + Shift + 7) -> plus sign to add path effect -> select power stroke from the list as you have a curve of your choice highlighted. do note that using a power stroke on a curve modifies it in a way the the fill options apply to it now instead of the contour ones. i don't know why it's like this but that's just one of the several hassles you'll have to deal with. power stroke adds pink "width" points which you can multiply with Ctrl + LMB (but can't easily delete) that allow you to change width at any point however the control of them feel wonky and unintuitive and you can't make them neatly uniform in any way. they also often create visual bugs. hell, even the smoothness slider is broken, at least in my version. yada yada don't bother with thema much better option is to create a curve, shape it how you want it to be and then go to path -> contour into path (Ctrl + Alt + C). that changes the curve into a polygon. you then add extra nodes near the ends and shape the endings however you like. i believe i've mentioned this at some point in the tutorialyou can also predefine a polygon shrinking at the ends, copy it to the clipboard and then use the shape submenu for the Bezier curves to get every curve shaped like that polygon. that should also be covered somewhere in my tutorial
