Last time on The Good Necromancer:>The group of you head into Sibashikha, looking around at the two as the Radonitsa celebrations begin.>Getting some food first at a local bakery, you also learn that there are a few bookstores and temples in town.>Following that you find some festivities in town and take part in them: playing some ring toss where you win some magical trinkets and go through a Hall of Mirrors which is fun for you and Dawyn.>You reunite with the rest of the group and head off to check out a weapon store. You take interest in a Griffon warhammer called Járnfall, Dawyn grabs a shortsword and shield, and Tanssija grabs a few elemental arrows. Your eyes narrow a bit at the royal buck at his comment, a blush hidden by your makeup."Do I now?"Hannu doesn't respond, but a blush that grows over his face tells you what you need to know. You manage to remain stone faced for the most part, but the very edges of your lips still tug upward a bit as the pause continues, finding yourself wondering what is going on in that cute buck's head right now. Eventually, you speak up."Hmm, I do think you're right. Handling a long, hard hitting weapon that towers over everyone's pride does suit me well." You say, running a hoof partway down the shaft to lift the hammer a few inches up and then around to bring it onto your shoulder, then balancing on your hind legs for a moment before getting onto three of them, "With a bit of training, I could try to double it as a staff of sorts. Using magic with it will be a bit more of a challenge, but I wouldn't mind broadening my horizons.""I think that could work," Hannu nods, "I've heard of mages doubling weapons as foci. Still, with practice it'll be quite a weapon in your hooves."Hannu then leans forward slightly, speaking quietly so that only you could hear him."Besides, you already have some experience with similar things~." He teases you quietly. You ignore his teasing for now and look around at the others as Hannu leans back."So you're both thinking of picking up axes? I was thinking about picking one up as well. One of Smoke's brothers taught me, but I've yet to make any use of it.""Yeah, but like I said it's a passing interest," Iiro nods, "And even if I learned I don't know how well I'll do with it. With my magic I haven't really had much reason to pick up a weapon.""As for me, I was mostly just looking. There are plenty of axes back in Alln Lenora and I can get a guard to teach me," Hannu replies, "Though I could still grab one from here..."What do you do?
>>41744099You chuckle"Hah you planning on showing off Hannu to impress me with your mad skills to lure me into a sense of your comforting security. How scandalous of you"?!
>>41744099We ponder at the buck for a long moment, already knowing what we would advise, and instead reflecting a little more on Hannu's teasing remark. Our grip on Járnfall's haft periodically tenses and relaxes as he has us stumped for a follow up.'Denying and rebuking his words is basically an admission he is correct, same from any acknowledgement. Leaving him on top in either case... I suppose I could say something about him going to "spar" with someone else, like Dawyn, or that maid he liked.'Sensing we are taking too long, we clear our throat."Unless there is one that stands out to you, one from back home may serve you better: it would be hoofcrafted for deer use, and you would have access to a trainer and the one who crafted it. Since you've seen them already, were there any well suited for me?"Good to see you're back! Hope you're taking it easy.>>41744185Luscinia's tone is somewhat archaic by fantasy standards. No "mad skills". Flirting isn't a bad move though.
>>41744185Not this. Inherently goes against Luscinia's personality.
>>41744185>>41744224Yeah, I've been trying. I'll talk about it more when finishing tonight.>>41744284You ponder at the buck for several moments, already knowing what you would advise for him, instead taking the time to reflect a little more on his teasing remark. Your grip on Járnfall's hilt periodically tensing and relaxing as he has you stumped on how you could follow that up.'Denying and rebuking his words is basically an admission he is correct, same from any acknowledgement. Leaving him on top in either case... I suppose I could say something about him going to "spar" with someone else, like Dawyn, or that maid he liked.'Eventually, you clear your throat and continue."Unless there is one that stands out to you, one from back home may serve you better: it would be hoofcrafted for Deer use, and you would have access to a trainer and the one who crafted it. Since you've seen them already though, were there any well suited for me?""There was one that I thought could suit you."He leads you over to the axes and points to one that stands out from the standard war axes on display in the store: a broad-headed axe attached to the end of a pole 5 feet in length. The blade of the axe was long and shaped in a crescent, both ends of the blade rounded towards the pole with the bottom end of the blade being fastened to the pole itself and then encircled with a metal loop>Bardiche: a war axe fashioned to a polearm, but unlike other polearms it relies on the weight of the heavy axe blade to do damage rather than a swing from the pole itself. Despite being developed in the Holy Cannorian Empire it doesn't see much use in it's armies, it is instead more common in the Earth Pony kingdoms of Estys' Spine where it's used by infantry there.>Weapon type: Axe>Dmg: 40-55>Chop: with the weight of the axe it's user can create blows that reduces an enemy's ability to fight. You can choose to deal a quarter of it's damage to instead cleave chunks into an enemy, reducing their attack by -10 for 2-4 turns. What do you do?
>>41744405Placing our hammer next to us, we reach out with a hoof and slowly run it down along the shaft of the axe. Raising to our hindlegs, we bring our other hoof into place, seeing what feels natural with the bardiche while resisting the urge to give it a test swing. Though, we do prop the butt of it on the ground for a second and test part of our weight on it."... I may need to practice using weapons as foci, as you said, because two hooved weapons seem to keep finding their way to me."Sitting back down, we check for a price tag and lean closer to Hannu."Why ever did you imagine me wielding this?"
>>41744473Placing Járnfall next to you, you reach up with a hoof and slowly run it down along the wooden shaft of the axe. Stopping for the night. Sorry I've been gone for so long, the DnD campaign exploding and then getting a head injury not even 24 hours later put me in a place where I just mentally and physically couldn't write anything. Then by the time I recovered from both classes had gotten crazy and I wanted to focus on getting that done. It's all done though and I have my winter break now, so I'm good.Speaking about DnD stuff a bit, I've still been talking with my old DM and Amafrey's player, I was still talking with Theo's player as well but he has now ghosted me for some reason. Anyway, still talking with a couple of them and the DM even decided to start a new campaign and invited me to it along with his fiancé and Amafrey. It's in the same world, but lower stakes and 30 years before everything with Naltaal and the group.Anyway, have a good night.
>>41745080Glad to know you're doing better, physically and mentally, and that you've got D&D to look forward to. I'm stuck waiting until the new year for session 1.Anyway, Night, Pluto!

>>41745080Hey Pluto. Good to hear that you're doing much better after the craziness you faced the past few months, and hope things will improve and you can have fun with DnD again. Will likely lurk more since I've been more occupied like anyone else at this time of year, but will still chime in when I can.
>>41744835You smile slightly when you hear him say that about you.'Not quite what I was getting at, my short king, but it is sweet in a way. >>41746824'But then you will have gifted me two things of greater value.'Even thinking that, we know its illogical and senseless to try and keep track of the value of gifts. >>41747390We lean closer to her so our shoulder brushes against hers, rubbing her claw briefly before brushing a lock of her mane aside, ultimately giving her a little smooch and a smile."If you two are in agreement then, then I will just have to ensure I become a worthy wielder. Though, I would like to purchase these soon: weight isn't an issue, but holding both weapons will be cumbersome, and I would like to stow them."Keep trying to type but getting pulled away and it throws off my train of thought. >>41748049Holding the Bardiche out for her, you watch her carefully as she takes it in her claws and slowly pulls it away from you. She does have some trouble with it at first, but quickly gets it balanced in her hoof and gives you a smile when she does. Now knowing that she has a good grip on it, you collect Járnfall and place it back over your shoulder, giving Hannu and Iiro a slight nod before getting up and moving along. As you head to the front counter you approach the stallion and doe couple as they look over the swords, lingering for a moment to inspect both their souls and body language which are normal."I believe I have all I need for the moment, and same for the others. Are you two still browsing?""No, just looking," Smoke replies, the two of them turning to you, "Tanssija found what she wanted, and I couldn't find a Flail that I liked so I'll be sticking to the one I have.""We can stop at the next town to see what they have for Flails," Tanssija nods, "But he's right that we're done looking."What do you do?
>>41753140"Then we are ready to move along, and let others do their business? I believe more people are coming in."Glancing once towards the entrance of the shop, the increasing number of ponies inside makes us a little nervous as we call attention to it. Keeping track of the group and sticking near both Dawyn and Hannu, we patiently wait our turn, feeling just a bit tense as we recall the crowd we will be stepping back into. Idly toying with the vine collar around our slender neck helps calm us a bit though.
>>41753247"Then we are ready to move along, and let others do their business? I believe more people are coming in."You glance towards the entrance of the shop where more Ponies were starting to come in, making you more nervous as you call attention to it and the two look over. After this you all quickly join the line to the counter, keeping track of the group and sticking near both Dawyn and Hannu as you patiently wait, feeling just a bit tense as you recall the crowd you'll be stepping back into. Idly, you begin to toy with the vine collar around your slender neck which helps to calm you down a bit.You then feel something bump against your right side. Looking over, you see Hannu had noticed and is now leaning against you, offering you a comforting smile as his hoof touches against your own.At this happens Tanssija and Smoke buy their arrows and then step to the side so that the three of you could go up next. What do you do?
>>41753467Taking his cloven hoof in ours, we look down at the buck with a mild temptation to kiss him, since our thanks for the gesture would be a decent enough excuse to do it. In the midst of slowly pulling his hoof under the cover of our cloak, we realize Tanssija and Smoke have finished their purchase, and we end up releasing it before we can rest it against our chest as we had planned. Instead of the original gesture we had been planned, we graze our lips against one of the many prongs on Hannu's antlers in a brief kiss, a tad chaste for our affectionate intentions.Once we're sure Hannu won't tip over if we step away, we approach the counter, laying out Jarnfall, and the sword and shield for Dawyn, along with the Grivna required.Figure Hannu might misinterpret where Luscinia was gonna put his hoof, but left that open.Kinda curious about the shopkeep, but couldn't think of how to work in looking at them
>>41753560Taking his hoof in yours, you look down at the buck with a mild temptation to lean down and kiss him, your thanks for the gesture would be a decent enough excuse to do it. In the middle of slowly pulling his hoof under the cover of your cloak, you realize that Tanssija and Smoke have finished up their purchase, and you end up releasing his hoof before you could rest it on your chest as you had planned. Instead, you graze your lips against of the prongs on his antlers in a brief kiss, a tad chaste for your intentions but it'll do for now.Making sure he won't tip over as you step away, you trot up to the counter and lay out both Jarnfall and the sword and shield for Dawyn in front of the Earth Pony stallion running the counter, along with the 850 Grivna for all three items. Looking everything over, the stallion takes the Grivna and starts counting it as he speaks."I was wondering when someone would take the hammer," He comments, "I've tried it myself and found it to be good."Satisfied that the amount his correct, he nods and looks over at you."Welp, they're all yours.">850 Grivna removed from your inventory. 1185 Grivna remain. What do you do?
>>41756944"Thank you, the hammer caught my eye."Stepping aside with the weapons bundled in one foreleg, we pause to lend Dawyn a hoof with the axe, giving her a little peck on one of her horns as well. While we wait for her business to wrap up, we spend a minute finding a comfortable seating for Jarnfall on our back/at our side, and making sure the sword and shield are as presentable as we can make them: with the sword secured in its scabbard and the shield placed on top of it. The prospect of gifting them to her has us a little giddy, even if it was a fairly utilitarian purchase. The moment everything is purchased, we usurer Iiro, Hannu, and Dawyn back out into the street so that we can find somewhere away from the crowd to fit Dawyn with her new equipment.
>>41757061"Thank you, the hammer caught my eye."Stepping to the side with your weapons bundled in a foreleg, you pause to lend Dawyn a hoof with the axe as she trots up, giving her a small peck on her horns as well as she passes, watching as she places the Bardiche on the counter with a bit of effort. Keeping an eye on her for a moment, you spend that time finding a comfortable seating position for Jarnfall at your side before making sure your sword and shield look as presentable as possible: the sword secured in it's scabbard and the shield placed over it. As you fiddle with both you find the prospect of gifting them to her making you a little giddy, even if it was a fairly utilitarian purchase.Once she has made the purchase and gets the Bardiche back you usher the three of them out of the store and to the street, finding a small alleyway where the four of you are away from the crowd."I, uh, have never really carried stuff like that so I don't have much knowledge on how I'm suppose to carry it." Dawyn says bashfully, watching you fiddle with the sword and shield again. What do you do?
>>41757470"I've worked with unbalanced tools before, so your efforts stood out to me. Not to mention it being an Earth Pony weapon."We reassure her, pausing our fiddling long enough to look her in the eyes. Hannu's comment about our proficiency with long weapons springs to mind, but we have subjected Armas to enough of our shenanigans for now. Having done all we can to make the sword and shield look good, short of magic we don't know, we adjust our cloak and straighten up."Now, under different circumstances, I would prefer we did this somewhere a little more memorable, but..."We present Dawyn with her new weapon and shield, holding it with the point tilted down, trying to be a little fancy to make up for the lacking presentation otherwise."I believe these would be more your size. Would you like a hoof putting them on?"

She then starts trying to attach them to herself, getting the shield on her back just fine but struggling in finding a good place for the sword."Would you like a hoof putting them on?""Y-Yes please." She blushes a bit. What do you do?

Undoing the belt on the scabbard, we feed it across her back before reaching under and pulling it through the latch, never straying from the belt but not shying away from touching Dawyn either. Turning our head, we speak tenderly to Dawyn, our lips not far from her ear."There, it should be within your reach. Not too tight, or in the way? Would be unfortunate if I had accidently bound your lovely wings, wouldn't it."Leaving Dawyn with that playful little thought, we back off and raise a hoof, gesturing for her to open her wings and move them around."We should probably practice drawing our weapons, but that can wait until we have finished shopping."

After this you back off and raise a hoof up, gesturing to her to open her wings up. She does after a moment, fully spreading her leathery wings out and giving them a few test flaps."We should probably practice drawing our weapons, but that can wait until we have finished shopping.""Yeah, we can do that when we get back to camp," She nods, "I would rather not cause a panic by accident.""I don't think it would, but still better not risk it," Hannu agrees, trotting forward a bit, "What do you guys want to do next now?"What do you do?

I, I am a little interested in checking out the temples, once they are less busy, along with the armor shop."Your nerves begin to show a little, given what you are and the prospect of facing a crowd that is described as packed doesn't help. Still, you begin to recall a bit about the temples you heard of. When you went into town with your Master in the past he would always avoid the temples, not because stepping into them would get both of you smited by a god, it was one of the last places you needed to be if they somehow knew so he would rather not risk it at all. From what you know about the gods here though: Pallas is a kind goddess that focuses on spreading love and beauty and having her followers do the same, her followers would probably be the least likely to strike you down if you happened to reveal yourself. Midas is the god of art, not just painting but any creative thing that a Unicorn sets out to do so his followers wouldn't be very likely either. The most likely would be the followers of Kallisto, goddess of travel and protector of those that wander, and considering how many people are from out of town it is likely that her temple will be packed more than the others."We could go to a bookstore and temple," Dawyn replies, "Honestly, the bookstore has me a bit curious with how the owner is described."What do you do?
>>41763435"Indeed, I am curious as well. So, no objections to the bookstore?"We confirm with the three of them before heading out and making our way in the direction of the lake.
>>41763680"Yeah, I'm curious as well. So, no objections to the bookstore?"You don't get any from the three of them, and after collecting Tanssija and Smoke all five of you make your way to the lake. It's a trot that takes several minutes with the crowds, having to weave back and forth through them but you eventually reach the part of town next to the lake. Near the lake things thin out considerably, both in crowd size and in the amount of buildings with only a few at the edge of the lake. So few that it doesn't take much time to find the bookstore: an old, small stone building that's maybe ten feet from the edge of the lake. You can see from the state of the stone making up the building and the yard around it that the owner doesn't really take care of it, some stones crumbling a bit and the plants outside either dead or overgrown. Despite the look of it though, there is a sign sitting on the street in front of the building."Lake Edge Bookstore"What do you do?

It must have been passed down to a struggling owner. I wonder how to date the books are."After a few moments of standing around Tanssija is the first to slowly move forward, quietly trotting up to the door and testing it with a hoof. The inside is more well kept than the outside, being more clean though there is still the occasional cobweb or bits of dust so it at least showed the owner makes more of an effort to keep the inside clean. You could see a counter and a main room with four shelves and several more lining the walls, the shelves filled with books that are occasionally broken up by strange looking items like an orb glowing a soft purple or what appears to be a pair of glasses. As you look you hear the sound of hooves moving to the main room, quickly switching over to your soul sight to see the soul moving towards you and Tanssija, eventually rounding a corner to reveal...A young Pegasus mare. She looked to be a few years older than you, sporting a gray coat with a pair of fluffy gray wings and a slightly curly orange mane. I keep somehow forgetting to do this, but stopping for the night. I'm not going to be posting tomorrow, gonna spend Christmas with my family.Have a good night or day and have a Merry Christmas!
>>41767652Morning, Pluto, and Merry Christmas all!
Mery Christmas! While not Christmas-y, I thought it would be fun to write a scene where the foals encounter a sequel character of sorts within their universe: After a LOOONNNGGG voyage, Rune and his friends finally set hoof to Etsys, a land that thrives on magic above all else. The three were thrilled to finally roam upon stable land, eating more than hard tack, and no longer swabbing the poop deck!"Uuuhhhgggg..."From behind them, just stepping off of the plank, was a sea sick Earth Filly with a teal coat and yellow mane staggering to land before collapsing on the dock.Rune blinked. He rubbed his eyes and blinked again. There was no mistaking it. Clover, another champion who was chosen by Fable. Someone she picked after realizing Rune's resistance towards Destiny. Unlike Rune who Fable felt responsible for, Clover's strength from escaping and destroying a Hellspawn enslavement camp was what caught her eye. The two's goals aligned with each other, so Clover took her role as the Goddess' Blade seriously."Dusk," Light starts cooly, "we'll have a discussion about how you conveniently missed a stowaway later. For now, we need answers."Dusk was going to say something, but the glare from his princess was enough for him to know what he says won't help his defense.Light glares to Rune. She wanted answers from Clover. Without a word, he pulls out his sword and uses the White Rune and Black Rune to neutralize her illness. Feeling better, Clover gets on her hooves, but instead of thanking him, she lifts up her hoof in a rude gesture. This made Rune wince a little. In a blink of an eye, Dusk was right behind her and suspended her in the air in a tight hold. Clover screamed and flailed in his grasp. "What gives, you purse-snatching bumkin! I thought you were on my side!""I'd never said that! I said you don't cause no ruckus, I ain't reporting ya! I just stopped ya from being Shark-Pony food!"Hearing this, Clover stopped flailing. "Fine! I'll talk to your 'pwecious wittle pwincess' if you put me down!"Dusk looks over to Light who nods as she steps next to Rune, just a little behind him. As clover is being set down, Rune ready himself, willing to protect Light at any cost. Dusk sets Clover down and watches her intensely."Yeesh! Do you really need all of this fan service?" Clover spat. "I'm surprised you trust your life with someone as incompetent as Rune here. I should be your guard! I finished what he couldn't!"Rune's anger flared as Darkness swirled around him. He was going to shout, but Clover lift a hoof to stop him. "Stuff it! I know of her royal hindquarters' decree to befriend the boonies here, and his greyness' willingness to allow you to play peace maker."She let out a raspberry and glares at Light, who glares back."Actions speak better than words, you know! While you were playing with dresses, Rune was playing paladin, and your bumkin was being a bumpkin-""You better watch yourself!" Dusk warns darkly.Cont.
>>41768255"Bumpkin~" Bumpkin~ Dumber than a pumpkin~" Clover sings mockingly.Enraged, Dusk twists his hooves to ready his Bagh Nakh. Rune points his sword towards Clover, the Darkness growing deeper within himself. Voices mutter in his head."Kill her.""Do it.""Blood.""Death."Clover unsheath her own sword, once belonged to Azazel, the prince of Tartarus, the blade was pitch black and engulfed itself in blue flames. Unlike the last time they've seen it, the sword now has 5 Runes equipped:Blood Letting Rune: An inky red Rune that can inflict Tainted Blood. It will make you weak to Holy Magic, and will seep out of cuts rapidly. The only cure is death.Dragon Rune: An emerald rune blessed by Tiamat that will summon one of her children into battle.Berserker Rune: A scarlet Rune that has a high chance of causing Berserk to an enemy and double their attack. When used on an ally, it will guarantee the Berserk status.Holy Rune: A white Rune that's infused by Holy Magic. Unlike Rune's White Rune, this one is mass produced and has a limited use.Changeling Rune: A black rune with a green tint, said to embody the soul of a Changeling. Can turn her weapon into any other weapon along with the Rune itself."EVERYONE CEASE!"Light's authoritative command has everyone halt in their place, even the voices in Rune's head quieted. All eyes look to Light who, despite the outburst, looked as composed as ever. "There will be no fighting between the chosen, and Dusk Stalker, calm yourself.""Yeah, Dusk, calm yourself!" Clover mimes.Dusk looks like he's going to explode, but does what he's told. "Clover, If you're not here to make peace, I advise you return to the ship and return to Equestria."Clover just blows a raspberry. Light's calm facade cracked a little. "I don't take orders from anyone who allow Hellspawn to share our plane of existence!"She reaches into her satchel and tosses a sheet of paper to her. It was a wanted poster with an Earth Pony Mare, Tan in color with faint stripes and a purple mane. She is wanted for the practice of Necromancy with an outstanding reward."Want to be on my good side? I overheard the crew talking about this chick. She MAKES Hellspawn. If you REALLY cared about the well being of this land, and by extension, the world, you would take care of the real issue.""You don't see the second coming of Alicorns as a threat?""Tch. No. Governments only take care of the issues that only affect THEM. God actually CARE about the smaller folk! It's time for Nobles to be put in their place!"Clover trots forward, pushing Rune aside and bumping past Light. She continues to trot before looking back at them."You lot go ahead and bore yourself to death while I actually make a difference in this place!"She then gallops away, leaving the three foals seething with anger.
>>41768258Fun read with a cute little cast of characters, though I admittedly can't recall most of the lore involved. Nice to see something tangentially inspired by Pluto's stuff. For a moment, at the mention of Shark-Pony, I thought there was gonna be that tiger shark pony character that was made some time ago.
Hearth's Warming
Not sure if this was answered or something agreed upon by now (forgot a lot), but if Luscinia teats are growing, what will her final size exactly be? She has a lot of potential room to grow, considering how tall she is, after all.On a side note, hope everyone had a good Christmas yesterday. Cheers to the upcoming new year celebration.
>>41772489I don't recall anything being settled upon (though I can't exactly recall every minute detail either), but her growth has been a bit nebulous. I have to assume her bra will be fine for a bit, but I seem to recall her being in denial about the fit of her armor (leading to the bra). The growth would become much more apparent once the hypothetical pregnancy starts. At some point though, a magical solution would have to be looked into, which would be both silly and kinda interesting. I'm ambivalent, though I kinda prefer it being vague and gradual.Unrelated, but I'm curious who Cloud Leap was waiting for. Silly as it is, I can imagine it somehow being Jaaja: returning an overdue book to his marefriend, only to find the place filled with unexpected ponies... three of whom he recognizes from a very personal dream.
>>41767140>>41767155>>41767192"Sounds perfect, thank you."You start to look around with Dawyn trailing behind you and the others splitting off to look for their own things.'Hannu probably has all he needs, though I could get him something regardless. Not like he will have access to everything beyond Alln Lenora, though there may be not much here for that. Dawyn does enjoy a good mystery, if I recall.'Deciding to find something for Dawyn and Armas, you first head over to a section labeled 'Fiction' with various subsections within it. The two of you head over to this section and you think as you do.'She doesn't seem all that eccentric. She does seem on edge though. I wonder if she has gotten herself into some trouble.'You go back to looking over the books in the fiction section for now, spotting Wide Open Skies in one of the subsections along with a few books that Master had, mostly in the adventure subsection though. As you look over everything though you notice that most of the books are quite old, their covers fading, bindings fraying, and pages turning a soft yellow. There are also small items spread throughout the shelves like you saw when you first walked in, the items having no rhyme or reason in organization besides all of them being able to fit in a hoof ranging from a small rock covered in strange symbols to a small jar of what looks like dust suspended in... something which Dawyn is looking closely at.What do you do?
>>41773242'Given the age of some of this stuff, perhaps we can find some magic books written between now and Armas's time. Things have changed, so it would be good to have more reference points on that front. I'm surprised this place doesn't attract more historians and archeologists... like Dawyn.'We pause, making a mental note to look out for anything relating to Giants in the local area. Picking up Wide Open Skies for now, we gently flip through it to make sure it isn't missing any pages. Approaching Dawyn, we join her in inspecting the jar. We mutter softly to the hybrid mare."... It is somewhat pretty, but I don't recognize the substance."

Picking up Wide Open Skies, you carefully flip through it to make sure there isn't any missing pages or anything like that, but you don't find anything amiss. Turning your attention to Dawyn, you approach her and join her in inspecting the jar."...It is somewhat pretty, but I don't recognize the substance." You mutter to the hybrid mare. You very much didn't recognize it. The dust is flakes of some sort of reddish-gold material and what it's suspended in almost looks like water, but somehow much more clearer when looked at in a certain way it causes light to grow slightly brighter."Yeah, I don't recognize it either, both the dust and the substance," She mutters back, "It does make me curious though..."As the two of you continue to look at the small jar your fur suddenly stands on end. You quickly look around, but it's only the two of you in this aisle. Even with this confirmed the feeling of being watched doesn't go away. What do you do?
>>41773750'Odd... Maybe...'We whisper to Dawyn."Did you sense that?"Regardless of her answer, we cast Sense Evil on the both of us.
>>41773750'It couldn't be a soul jar, could it? I only spotted one soul when I came in here.'The sense of being watched isn't all that unfamiliar, since the aged books and knick-knacks throughout the room almost takes us back to our Master's tower, but Place a hoof near it, to see if it is emitting heat/cold. Has it been moved at all (based on dust). Glance about the roomwith soul sight, making sure to look up and down subtly."We could ask Cloud."
>>41773779>>41773812'Odd... It couldn't be a soul jar, could it? I only spotted one soul when I came in here. Maybe...'The sense of being watched isn't that unfamiliar to you, since all of the aged books and knick-knacks about the room reminds you somewhat of Master's tower, but still... You whisper over to Dawyn."Did you sense that?"She doesn't respond, but from her coat standing up like your own and her nod you know that she's feeling the same thing. You look back at the object and place a hoof just near it, not feeling any heat or cold coming off of it. From the dust that has settled on and around it, it hasn't been moved by anyone in some time. You quickly cast Sense Evil and then start glancing around the room, not picking up any souls from the jar as you do. You look down, then up, and then... you stop.Just above you on the ceiling is a soul, or something that certainly acts like one. The soul doesn't take the shape of a normal soul, rather than a sphere like you're used to it doesn't really have a shape at all. Instead, the strands of the soul seem to stretch and pull in different directions with no sense at all, waving slightly in some breeze you couldn't feel. Still, one of the strands seem to drift very far from... whatever it's center is, remaining at least no more than five feet in length where it the strands seem to double over themselves or twist themselves into tight coils. After a second of looking at it the soul begins to move along the ceiling and then a second later it suddenly disappears. It doesn't move behind some object or phase through the ceiling, it just vanishes from your soul sight. The feeling of being watched doesn't go away as it vanishes. What do you do?
>>41774003'Not a soul, but close. Not a spirit either... Not undead? Not a demon either, or I wouldn't be able to see it. Or maybe a soul corrupted beyond recognition?'Can a soul get that bad? Is there anything we need to know about it?" Sorry if it seems too rushed for what you were going for. This seems too urgent to play ignorant.
Stopping for the night.Have a good night or day!

I would like to speak with Cloud."Once we're alone, try tapping the floorboards to see if the entity will respond. Or maybe a soul corrupted beyond recognition?'You remember that souls can get corrupted, usually by some sort of evil magic, but even then the corruption doesn't cause a soul to distort like that. After a moment of thinking you give Dawyn a hug and a quick kiss to distract and calm her down. It helps a bit as she leans against you in response."Are you able to check with the others if they're feeling this as well? I'm going to talk to Cloud.""I can do that." She nods. You split off and once you're alone you begin to tap the floorboards a bit, still feeling it watching you but it doesn't react in any other way. Heading back to the front, you find Cloud sorting some things behind the front counter and as you approach she looks over at you."I hope you don't mind me saying that your store is rather peculiar. How long have you owned this place? Was it inherited?""Oh, just for five years now. I didn't inherit it or anything, I simply moved up here and bought it," She replies, "As for some of the catalog, I did inherit that from my parents."What do you do?

The area isn't hard to miss though, the forest will eventually get broken by a large area where the ground is dominated by stone. From there it isn't hard to grab a relic, there is still plenty up there."What do you do?

His soul is still there and normal, but as you recall about Spirits and learning about them, his whole body in soul sight is now glowing a bit like his soul his, like a Spirit's soul. What do you do?

>>41787788"It may not have intent at all, merely a purpose it fulfills mechanically. Shaped purely from soul magic, possibly a sort of remote viewing via the soul? I can't risk checking what it is in a certain book, but we are in a bookstore. I will leave telling Hannu about your improved health to you, if you wish, but it is best we check with him on everything else."Stepping closer to Hannu, we raise our voice to a somewhat hushed tone."Have you felt like you are being watched? Randomly, while in here, that is."
>>41787788"It might be. It's not demonic since demons don't have souls. I don't think scrying magic would impose a sense of foreboding, and Cloud's worry makes me think she knows more than what she's letting on... What are the chances it's Eldritch Magic?"

I don't think scrying magic would impose a sense of foreboding, and Cloud's worry makes me think she knows more than she's letting on... >>41790070"No?"What's the distance between where we were and where Hannu is? Could the thing have a limit to how far it can move? "Not to scare you, but there is something. Armas and I were discussing whatever it could be. Not demonic, not haunted, not evil, maybe Eldritch? We won't know until we properly see it. Cloud seems like she's hiding something. Do you know a way to coerce more information from her?"
>>41790070"Perhaps the amount of souls present with the Paavola(?) renders you less sensitive to their presence? Or you are simply used to being watched at all times. That one makes more sense. To be honest, I haven't yet devised a way to get Cloud to let us investigate that isn't too forthcoming or suspicious. She may be hiding something unwittingly, and we know that it has effected her business, given what we were told about it."

So why didn't he feel it?"Perhaps the amount of souls present with the Paavola renders you less sensitive to their presence? Or you are simply used to being watched at all times. That one makes more sense," You say, "Anyway, not to scare you, but there is something. Armas and I were discussing whatever it could be. Not demonic, not haunted, not evil, maybe Eldritch? We won't know until we properly see it and I haven't devised a way to get Cloud to let us investigate that isn't too forthcoming or suspicious. She may be hiding something unwittingly, and we know that it has effected her business, given what we were told about it.""I don't know a whole lot about the banned magics so I can't say what is going on," Hannu replies, "From the sound of it Cloud knows... something. How did she react when you talked to her?"What do you do?
>>41793708"She was nervous about something when I asked if she ever felt like she was being watched, and tried to downplay it, insisting that solitude and setting were the cause of such things. >>41794259"... Yes, I am worried about that, though I am more concerned about how much it would hurt her at this point. I don't believe I could hide it or lie to her if we had to confront Cloud, even if it would endanger her to know. To be quite honest, it is something I have delayed because I had hoped she might not have to know, but it has meant I've had to hide a part of myself from her. A part that can't be brought up on first introduction, of course, but, i should've spoken up about it some time ago."'If I open up about what my Master was, and my fugitive status, she may better understand. >>41794259"It's... Never easy. The reputation of my magic has been tarnished for millennium. Everyone I've told all reacted with terror of who I am. Smoke, Tanssija, even you. Even if it ends in heartbreak, at least she'll have a motive to move on."
>>41794340We don't need to rush the process, though I do imagine she'll learn soon. If we tell her, or she finds out, it should happen naturally, not as an excuse to exercise someone's house.I'm up for just seeing if Hannu can use his kingly charm. If not, we can use Iiro as the one to interrogate her. Being a mage with ties to the king, he would probably be the best person to speak up.
>>41794372>not as an excuse to exercise someone's houseAgreed. I think it's okay that it prompts it, and brings things into perspective ("I'm hiding and smothering part of who I am, because I have been too scared to admit it to someone that I love, rather than showing her the best parts of myself and this magic") but as you said, we can't simply bring it up then immediately go talk with Cloud about it. A small part of me expects some reveal about Dawyn being sent to hunt down a Necromancer all alongIiro/Armas makes sense, as you said, though perhaps a little intimidating: the Deer are known for being staunchly anti Necromancy, afaik. Hannu working his charm can only end in comedic fashion.

I love her and she deserves to know. Even if it ends in heartbreak, at least she'll have a motive to move on."As you speak Hannu just listens, his expression growing sad as you continue. When you finish he reaches forward and pulls you into a gentle hug."It's... It's a hard thing to tell anyone, and I wish I could help more with this," He starts, "You've proven time and again what you're like though. Even if Smoke and Tanssija reacted with fear they still travel with you, and while I reacted with fear as well it's something I no longer fear, even with it I still want to be close to you. >>41797390Hearing that, our curiosity is immediately peaked. >>41797390>>41797424This, but also:Do you think there's also a history book on Hippogryphs? They're still a new species, however they have a fascinating upbringing. I think Iiro would be interested in learning more about them."

They're still a new specie, however they have a fascinating upbringing. I think Iiro would be interested in learning more about them.""I don't know," He shrugs, "There might be one here, but I haven't spotted one."After a bit of searching you find the book and pull it off of it's shelf. She admitted to experiencing the same as us, but became nervous and evasive when pressed. I don't believe she is in immediate danger though. I think he would find it fascinating as well~.'Smiling a bit more, you lean in and kiss her to whisper."I do also believe you and Hannu still have a show to give for our Griffin friends as well~."She blinks at this and then blushes a little."Right, I forgot about that," She mutters, "We still have plenty of time until that, but we should keep moving so we aren't late for that~."What do you do?
>>41817143"Wanna make it a race then since we're heading there anyway, so we can have a little competitive fun to keep things interesting and lively between the two of us"?!
>>41817143"Indeed."We smile, though something comes to mind that makes us bite our lip. Nuzzling Dawyn, we lean into her side and whisper into her ear."There is a, personal matter I wish to share with you at some point. It is fairly private, and potentially morose, so I'm not sure when might be appropriate, but it is something that is overdue."Not entirely sure on my post, but gotta set things in motion at some point.>>41817215Still need to buy the books first

It is fairly private, and potentially morose, so I'm not sure when might be appropriate, but it is something that is overdue.""Oh," Dawyn asks, looking confused and concerned, "If it's a problem we could find a place to talk about it pretty quick... Is it a problem?"What do you do?
>>41817605We hug her with one leg to reassure her."No, not a problem, but it is a sensitive matter that can't be discussed publicly. As I said, it has the potential to be grim, though I suppose you will worry until we discuss it, won't you. Let me assure you though, I am in good health, and that I love you, Dawyn. Forgive me, my nerves are just making me a little tongue tied and sombre."Hugging her a little tighter for a few seconds, releasing her to look her in the eyes with a smile.
>>41817605"No, not like that. Remember my episode I had in the hive? It's related to that, and it's relevance might reveal itself soon. I just want you to be prepared for it, if I do need to tell you sooner than I planned."We shake our head."Sorry, it's nothing to worry about right now. I want to tell you in private if I can, when the time is right, but just... Brace yourself for it. When it's time, I mean."

She manages to smile back at you, a claw moving to hold your hoof."And when you're ready, I'll be there to listen."What do you do?
>>41819917We nod, tearing up* just a little bit when we hear her say that, though we blink them away carefully. Lifting our hoof into her claw to hold it."That is all I ask. >>41820409Not this. Desperation isn't in our character, and we've established a pattern of accepting anyone knowing our secret is free to leave. We've even told Hannu earlier we'll be okay letting her go if she decides to leave after telling her. >>41796475

Now, were there any books you were looking for yourself?"Before she speaks you glance at Tanssija and Smoke, the two still nearby but they have moved back a bit to give both of you some space."I was just browsing, but there was a mystery book that I found that sounded interesting."She lifts up to show you the book: "The Death of a Lady".What do you do?
>>41820641The title is rather telling. I take it there's a lady who died?" We ask in our joking deadpan. "An investigation over a noble's death would be thrilling to read. With how many connections nobles have, there would be so many suspects to choose from."We couldn't help ourself but to snort at the title. "Ah, the one about the death of a lady. I think I've heard of that one; about the lady who has died."
>>41820641'Is it ironic that she's showing me this, given what has been on my mind?... I take it there's a lady who died?" You ask in your usual joking deadpan."Yes, a lady has died in the book." Dawyn rolls her eyes, but still smiles at your joke."Enlighten me, what is the premise? You ask, resisting the urge to lay down on your belly as you listen."It's about the matriarch of a minor house dying suddenly and mysteriously and a few years later her heir starts to investigate his mother's death, uncovering what truly happened.""An investigation over a noble's death is a thrilling read. With how many connections nobles have, there would be so many suspects to choose from." You comment."I believe that's one of the problems in the book," Dawyn replies, "The amount of Ponies who were connected to her and the strings that have to be connected from that."She then smiles a little and hugs the book to her chest."I can't wait to start reading it!"What do you do?
>>41821338Our heart flutters from her filly-like enthusiasm."Should I give you two some privacy?" We ask, deadpan."If I were the jealous type, I would argue that I would have competition with that book."We kiss her on the cheek. "I'll give you two some privacy." Should we check out? Or should we pin point what that entity is overseeing?
