The difference is onomastic but I think the the simple difference is culturally Equestrian names tend to not be based in older forms of language and much more relevant to the bearer.
A human might call their child Homer and then the child grows up to have nothing to do with the name's root meaning, while a pony would name their child Secure Promise and the foal would grow up to be the contract lawyer they were cosmically destined to be.
The reason pony names usually drive people over the edge is because they by their nature feel like a better fit for whoever it was assigned to, and if you've already embraced being a pony internally it will sound and feel more personal and familiar than your human name.

Tf art will always be a little weird, but that's not what I mean. Tranformation is not just a fetish, it can also be used for normal story scenarios. Good story scenarios, and that's what Showstyle is good at doing, illustrating tf not as a deviantart tier fetish but something out of an mlp goosebumps special. He puts a lot of character and personality into his art without making it porn. His art isn't just porn that the artists went over with the mare's skin color to censor the naughty bits, it looks like an actual person realistically transforming into a pony. It's also done well and it looks good. That's why I think he can do a good Golly tf. The reason a Golly tf would be fun is because you'd be thrown into a chaotic situation and influenced by Golly being an evil shit you'd have to navigate a web of intrigue while balancing your evil plan with your human morals and you still being a weak filly as you try to avoid Golly's fate. Not because of the way the majority of her fans think about her.
Imagine a drawing of a human, still transforming into Golly, that is frantically writing on a chalkboard with a piece of chalk with large letter saying stuff like How to avoid getting stoned? How to defeat Twilight? How to prove I'm the best? The half of his face that isn't fully transform is scared, while the Golly half of his face is angry that she was beaten.

I think that the Cozy Glow tf he did was one of his worse ones. He is usually much better. This one looks like he took Cozy Glow's face and put it on a human neck. Just a long human neck. It almost looks like Cozy possessed some poor kid.
I think the scenario can still work even without the mental change, it could even be better as you say. The person recognizes who he is transforming into, and even shares her wish to become powerful. However, he knows what's in store for the canonical Cozy Glow. Maybe he has a little softer side to make him slightly less villainous. Rather than one eye being scared, both sides are focused on the chalkboard and trying to figure out a plan. He barely even notices that he is still transforming, because he is already scheming. It's fun to think that he comes to think of his situation as an opportunity and quickly becomes a genuinely arrogant little pegasus. Clearly he must have done something right to be given the opportunity to become so powerful.
There's also so many future story opportunities. If you think about it Cozy Glow as a character has so much potential, but it's wasted by the show and most of her fans. Rather than using friendship for good she uses it for evil, and while her manipulations are a good subversion they're also a good starting point for a semi-redemption where she becomes genuine friends with some other villains. It's both a powerful and threatening ability and a nice way to tie her into the message of the show. The show fumbled that premise and it makes me sad.

I think you hit pretty close to the mark. I don’t make a habit of bashing my own art, but I will say that the Cozy Glow art was remarkably well received for how disappointed I personally was with some of its elements. There are some fundamental technical issues I have when trying to portray TF with foals, and they’re a major reason why I shy away from drawing them.
The show accurate proportions are so wildly different from humans that I tend to feel constrained by my options – foremost being the foals’ massive heads that take up half the visual space, but the stubby legs also make hand/hoof transitions feel claustrophobic. The most well done human-to-foal TFs I’ve seen (shout outs to Skitter and Harvey) seem to trend closer to at least teenage pony proportions, and if I opted to do the same, that may be the ideal course, albeit a less technically faithful one.
Then there’s the matter of transformees’ clothes, which if I wanted to be an accurate size and still on the body, would leave them swimming in the clothes to the point that it dominates the visual space and/or covers everything à la the baby Flurry Heart or Cheery ones. This can be fixed if the angle is right and/or the clothes are bunched up, but that strategy only goes so far.
There are challenges with this, but they’re by no means insurmountable. It starts with a good pose selection, and in case it isn’t apparent from the giraffe-neck Cozy Glow (and Cheery’s creative proportions, which was me touching the stove twice), “looking back” poses ain’t it. I think with foals, three-fourths or profile is obligate, and looking mostly ahead. Other solutions start to fall into place from there, such as hind legs not being blocked by a baggy shirt. And at the end of the day, some pieces will always simply suck, but for me to just accept that without trying to learn from them would be quitter talk.

My most vivid pony related dream was when Celestia welcomed me to Equestria by facesitting me and using her ass to hypnotize me while she changed me into a mare. I can still remember her asking me what my name was while she grinded it into me. I don't remember what I muffled but I know it was a good name for a mare. She let me go after that and I remember thinking that I had to get back to my house in ponyville, it really felt like her ass hypnosis was fading into my subconcious and I began to think like a pony mare. The dream ended after that, and I've been hoping to get it again. If Equestria does exist I hope my welcome will be the same.

You best believe that if the Luna tf virus is succesful I'm going to my own equestria and trying to lock my human memories away for some time. I want to experience literally being Luna, some of my personality will bleed through but it will be an authentic enough experience. When the lock breaks I'll decide if I want to extend it.

I'd be okay with living either in Equestria or on Earth
If I lived in Equestria I would be an astronomer or it's equivalent (I assume outside of the Equestrian solar system everything is normal like the real universe), probably in Canterlot or anywhere that good observations can be had
If I am on Earth I would become a pet by necessity, preferrably to someone who lives in a rural area with a lot of land where not a lot of people could see me and just be a little pony.
I have thought about this a lot.
