They believed that the spirits that were responsible for bountiful harvests had a sweet tooth, so once a year they would bring their desserts to that very cave. And to attract said spirits, they would ring a large bell.The "Gel" comes from Gelatin, and the "Ding" comes from the sound of the bell.This is real, you can trust me don't bother looking it up.
