Pegasi and earth ponies should have specialty weapons built to benefit their particular anatomy. In particular, I'd imagine fake talons would be very popular for pegasi and earth ponies would probably enjoy fake horns.

Would also significantly reduce the danger it poses to your fellow soldiers.
