How to start doing shading? I wanna see my ponies in color, but without any shadows they look kinda bland when I advance from black&white sketches. Any guides or some common rules?

>>41848089Might sound obvious but a lot of folks around make their first two or five draws and look like crap and they give up because they think that the only possible way to make good shit is having natural talent. I feel that exist that miracle that makes you able to create whatever you want with almost to no effort but the people who can pull out that "magical" ability is absolutely few like one in a million but that doesn't mean you will never get good if you keep trying and in the way you learn of your mistakes and having a level of critical thinking to know what you should improve and get better in. So, for the ones that feel like they will never get as good as they want is so easy like taking a pencil, making lines, boxes and circles and copy from screenshots from the show, panels from comics and their favorite artists. The hardest part is not giving up.

I didn't /have/ to gen anything, but I was playing around with it out of curiosity and thought what it spat out was cute enough to draw for real.The neck did seem a bit off to me, perhaps her head is slightly too small as well, but I chalked it down to not drawing ponies with their heads turned back towards their bodies very often.
