>What is this thread about?
This thread revolves around stories about ponies getting bathed and pet.

>Can you elaborate more?
Sure! SPG (Slave Pony General) is mostly about characters dealing with the actual implications of the horrifying thing that is chattel slavery. It's more looking at how people with modern sensibilities deal with the ownership of another sentient being, and how most people aren't total cunts.

> "[What were you thinking?!]" Darga shouted as soon as they were all in the tent. The thin leather wouldn't contain the sound, but she was so angry she didn't care. Her hands were shaking with how hard she was clenching her fists, and Thistle half expected the woman to hit someone.
> It looked like that someone would be Salki, at least judging by the furious glare his mother directed at him. "[We had to do it! He was bad!]" he defended, though he didn't fully meet her gaze.
> Darga took a step forward and Salki actually cringed, but she still didn't strike him. For once, Thistle wouldn't have minded. Their horrible botching of the plan had earned them all a beating, at the very least!
> "[He was bad?!]" Darga yelled. "[So you go and kill him in the middle of the camp? The Ulan-Zuk are going to kill us all!]"
> "[It wasn't us!]" Salki said. "[It was the Ruslan!]"
> Darga spat and then repeated in a nasal mockery of his own voice: "[It was the Ruslan!]" This time she did slap him, the sharp sound loud in the confined tent. Thistle gave a nod of agreement. "[It wasn't the fucking Ruslan and you know it! You slit Kumar's throat and everyone saw it! You-]" she pointed a trembling finger at Buygra. "[You killed Mahesh! Just like that, out in the open!]"
> Then she looked down and Thistle's ears wilted under that glare. "[And you...]" Darga growled.
"[It was already fucked! His guards were on the ground and the Ruslan had the spear. If I hadn't acted, he would have killed the man and then Salki and Buygra. I didn't have any choice!]"
> Rather than taking her ire away, Darga just brought her face closer. "[Did you know about this foolishness?]"
> Suddenly the mare felt hot in her skin and she took an involuntary step backward. It was all the answer the woman needed. "[You should have come and told me! At least you should have stopped them! I thought you were smart.]" She grunted and put a hand over her eyes. "[You said he was ready to be Chieftain, and you said you would help him.]" That last came in a soft, disappointed tone, which made Thistle's face burn in shame.
> Darga sounded as if she regretted allowing Salki to step up, and was particularly disappointed in Thistle herself. The derision hurt more than a slap would, and Thistle lowered her gaze to the floor.
> "[We couldn't let him live, Mother,]" Salki said. He'd sounded almost self-assured, but when his mother looked in his direction he began to speak more quickly, trying desperately to get his words out before she began to shout once more. "[He was going to take over our clan! It was the perfect opportunity! A Ruslan was going to do it, so the Ulan-Zuk couldn't blame us!]"
>>
>>41846233

> She spat again, and her shoulder tensed. Salki cringed away from another slap, but it never came. Instead, Darga looked like she was struggling with herself.
"[He was supposed to take the bow and shoot Adilet from a distance! Salki and Buygra were supposed to hold back his guards, not kill them! It all went wrong because the Ruslan had a spear and he couldn't kill Adilet when he was unarmed!]"
> Salki muttered something, but it was too quiet even for Thistle to catch.
"[What was that?]"
> "[We forgot the Ruslans can't shoot a bow. They don't have the bows. That's how we beat them.]"
> Her head whipped up and Thistle stared at the man with incredulity. He was right, and it had never occurred to her. She was surrounded by people who were very good with the bow, so she'd never imagined their Ruslan pawn wouldn't have the same skill. No one had thought about it, apparently.
> The sheer stupidity of the situation wrenched out a broken chortle from her throat and everyone looked at her in surprise. Even Darga's rage was forgotten, at least for a moment.
"[We are idiots,]" she admitted.
> "[Yes, you are,]" Darga said.
> The flap opened briefly to admin Darkhan, and the glum look on his face gave them all pause. "[Not good,]" he said. He pointed a finger at Salki and went on: "[People saw you kill the guard. It looks like you just attacked Adilet and his men without a reason.]"
> "[There was a reason!]" Salki said, and for a moment his voice sounded like that of a petulant, whiny child. "[He was going to take over our clan! Why can't people see that?]"
"[You didn't see it yourself until I explained it to you.]"
> "[Then we explain the same to everyone.]"
> His mother shook her head. "[It's too late for that. In another day, the Ulan-Zuk will come looking for their chieftain. We can't keep this a secret.]" That last had the sound of a question, and she turned to Darkhan as if seeking confirmation.
> "[No, we can't,]" the craftsman replied. "[People are afraid and angry. Intor is telling everyone we should cast you out. They're saying you've brought the clan to ruin.]"
"[Surely it's not that bad? We can bury the bodies. Tell the Ulan-Zuk they left our camp, drunk. Surely Intor and the others won't speak the truth, if it means we all die?]"
> Darkhan sighed sadly. "[Maybe we can get away with it for the Ulan-Zuk, but you're forgetting something.]"
"[What?!]"
> It was Buygra who answered, the first thing he'd said since they'd started, and his voice sounded utterly defeated. "[The traders.]"
> Salki just groaned and pressed his hand to his eyes. "[We're fucking idiots,]" he agreed.
>>
>>41846240

> "[So, what do we do now?]" Buygra asked. He looked especially afraid, thinking of his wife and child. If things turned ugly for their group, Xuan and Guuni would be in danger too.
"[We have to try. There has to be *something*!]"
> Thistle's mind worked furiously. She came up with a lie after lie, and discarded each one. Implausible, impossible, or downright dumb. How could she bring the others back to their side?
"[The truth. We have to tell everyone the truth,]" she finally said.
> "[What truth?]" Darga asked.
"[Everything. Everything we know about Adilet, and the Ulan-Zuk. The plan, and the mistake. Everything.]"
> Salki looked scared. "[They'll kill us all!]"
"[No. We can't afford it. Once the Ulan-Zuk hear about this, they'll attack us. Unless...]"
> "[Unless what?]"
"[Maybe they didn't like Adilet either? He wasn't a nice man. Maybe there are some people among the Ulan-Zuk who wanted him gone? To be rid of him?]"
> "[Bah,]" Darga sneered derisively. "[Even if there are, killing their chieftain is still an insult. They'll have to avenge him.]"
"[Then we run? The traders move slowly with their animals. We have a few days?]"
> Buygra shook his head. "[A few days would be lucky. We have one, maybe.]"
"[We pick up and leave.]"
> "[They'll be able to track us wherever we go. You can't hide the trail of a whole clan,]" Salki pointed out.
> Thistle's mind cast about for anything. Maybe if they found a wide river, and had their whole clan walk upstream for a while, it would conceal their trail?
> No, it would be too easy to find where they'd come out, and the freezing water would take its toll on the people, especially the young and the elderly.
> Could they escape over the mountains, to the lands in the West? That would put them nearer their other enemies, but perhaps the Ulan-Zuk wouldn't pursue that far?
> Maybe they could go East instead? If only she knew what other clans roamed these lands!
> The only other way was South.
"[How about the forests? In the mountains? I remember forests when Willow brought me to this land. Maybe we could hide...]"
> "[We might not have a choice,]" Darga said, "[but that's not the only problem.]"
"[What do you mean?]"
> "[Intor will use this. She'll try to get Willow named Chieftain. If we're lucky, they'll exile us. If not, they'll make us slaves, or just kill us on the spot.]"
"[Surely the people wouldn't?]"
> Darga's derisive laugh made Thistle flatten her ears in fear. "[The Borchi-Quin don't tolerate stupid leaders. None of the clans do!]"
"[We have to try!]"
>>
>>41846247

> She couldn't go back to Intor and Willow! Those two hated her guts and would make her life a nightmare if they were in charge of it! She had to think of something, and quickly! Maybe she couldn't think like a pony for this one. She'd have to look for answers beyond Equestrian politics.
"[We'll say it's self defense! Darkhan, where are the traders?]"
> "[They left a little while ago.]"
"[Send someone after them! Quick. Where's Temir? He didn't have anything to do with this.]"
> Darga and Salki both looked interested, and the young man looked a little relieved now that Thistle obviously had a plan. "[What are you doing?]"
> She sat on her haunches, mind racing as she invented desperately.
"[Okay, Temir will catch up to the traders and barter for something. He can say we forgot that we really need it. We'll have to give him silver, or gold. It will have to be something big, so they take him back to the trading caravan. Something that will take a while. Buy us time.]"
> Darga didn't look pleased about that part, but she didn't interrupt. Everyone in the tent made a circle around the mare and she spoke quickly. There wasn't a whole lot of time.
"[He'll spread rumors. He'll say Adilet and his men were drunk. It's true, anyway. He'll say the Ruslan saw him, got enraged, and took the spear from Zaur. That's true, too.]"
> "[They already know all that,]" Buygra pointed out.
"[Yes, but here's the next part. He'll say the guards thought they were under attack. They tried to kill Buygra and Salki, who had to defend themselves.]"
> She looked at Darkhan and pointed a hoof at him.
"[The traders didn't see what happened, right? They only heard what the people told them! Who saw what happened? Actually, never mind, we can figure that out later. I'll go and start telling the same story to everyone else I know. We have to spread this version. If enough people believe it, then everyone will accept it!]"
> "[But it's a lie!]" Salki said.
"[I know,]" she said and nodded, "[but that doesn't matter. Not if everyone believes it! It's the only chance, especially if it's not the only lie!]"
> The tent seemed to be spinning around her, and the mare forced herself to take calm, slow breaths. She focused on Darga.
"[You, go and start telling people Adilet was the first who attacked. Say that *he* hit Zaur, and then the Ruslan attacked him with the spear.]"
> "[What?!]" the woman burst out incredulously, but at a gesture from the mare lowered her voice. "[What will that do!? That's just another lie!]"
"[I know! We have to put multiple stories of what happened out there. That way, no one will know which one to believe! Tell Zaur both of these. Better yet, we send two people with different stories. It will spread through their caravan before they reach Ulan-Zuk.]"
>>
>>41846253

> Another idea struck her.
"[We have to send someone to the Ulan-Zuk right away! Tell them one of the lies and ask whoever is in charge to come get Adilet's body.]"
> "[They'll just attack,]" Darkhan said doubtfully.
"[No, not if we act in a way they don't expect!]" she said urgently. "[Maybe they won't. We don't have a choice. If they hear it from us, they might believe us. If they hear it from traders first, then I don't know. It would be good if they heard both, but our version first. They also won't know what really happened!]"
> Salki looked totally lost and he spread his arms helplessly. "[I don't understand, Thistle.]"
"[I know. I'll explain later. First we have to send Temir and someone else with him we can trust. We have to start spreading the stories among our people too! Let's go!]"
> Darkhan and Buygra gave reluctant nods, but their faces were still confused. Thistle shared a look with Darga, who was watching her thoughtfully.
"[You should help. Find people you trust, give them one of the stories. Make sure you only use one, or they'll figure out you're lying. Use the one where Adilet attacked first, and I'll spread the one where his guards attacked Salki and Buygra when the Ruslan got the spear. Darkhan, you spread the same one as me, and Buygra you tell the same one as Darga. Salki, pick one.]"
> She took a deep breath. It would take deceit, lies, and outright manipulation of these people, but she couldn't worry about that when all their lives were at stake. She was saving the entire clan, after all.
"[Send Temir and Bulat to me. I'll tell them what to say and send them to the traders. Have two horses ready. Oh, and Darga, find all your silver and gold pieces for them to trade.]"
> For a moment it looked as if the woman would argue, but then her shoulders slumped and she also gave nod. Thistle felt her belly unclench a little.
> Just maybe they could get away with it. With luck, she might be able to avert disaster the other idiots had cooked up.
> She almost growled at the thought: she should have stopped their scheme when she'd heard it. Her first instinct had been right!
> They were about to disperse, but then Salki heaved a sigh. "[I guess that means I'm not chieftain anymore...]"
"[No!]"
> His face was a question, but at least none of the others spoke.
"[That would be admission we did something wrong. We can't afford doubt. You have to be more in charge than you ever were. I'll have to think. One of you, tell people to gather up around the fire, tell them the Chieftain will have orders.]"
> "[I don't have any orders! What will I tell them?]"
"[I'll tell you what. I just need to think for a little while!]
>>
>>41846257

> "[She's right,]" Darga said, and her voice sounded subdued. "[If I step back, the people will just know it was a mistake to raise you. We can't change our minds now. You'll have to suck it up and hope we're all still alive this time tomorrow.]"
"[We will be,]" Thistle said, mouth twisting in distaste. "[I read about how to do this. It's ugly and evil, but maybe we can get through it.]"
>>

Can our master politician lie and cheat her way out of this jam? Will she and her friends get exiled, or enslaved?

Maybe she'll have to take Salki and go on the run, just the two of them. Surely that'd be *horrible*!

Earth ponies make the best pets, you never have to buy accessories to keep them from misbehaving. Unicorns love to levitate the molasses treats off the high shelf, so there's $99 for a magic suppression ring which she'll hoof at for a week before she gets used to it. Pegasi have the same problems, they fly up to the top shelf and you can't let them outside without a lead or wing binds. Earthies are just obedient and problem-free from the get-go; they're helpless little things that depend on you, so they don't misbehave as much as other ponies. Of course there's satisfaction in a well-trained pegasus or unicorn, but I've got a tedious day job, and I'd rather something hassle-free and affectionate to come home to at the end of the day.
>>
>>41846618
please do not suppress the magic of your pet unicorns
>>
>>41846768
well you can't very well have them running amok, it's a necessary part of training unicorns, the ring can come off once they're trained
>>
>>41846768
So two suppression rings is too much?
