have any of you used dvach's /mlp/ board?
>>41852881I used to browse it before I came here, but it's dead as fuck nowadays. One advantage it has is that it offers a bit more diversity of perspective compared to 4chan. People who grew up in post-Soviet counties have the capacity to be true romantics, to dream freely about the reality that might have been in their dissatisfaction with their current reality. Americans are all raised to be materialist consumers and their imagination is, in some ways, pretty limited. "Go to Equestria, rape waifu, unga bunga". The paladin movement that used to exist in Russia that insisted on staying pure and abstaining from any clop or dark content is one such example. People were capable of devoting themselves to an ideal. There's also the fact that a lot of the Russian people who became bronies were STEM nerds heavily into fantasy and hard sci-fi, so they would consume and get inspired by relatively obscure media, unlike 4chan, which only consumes the most mainstream of pop culture, the sloppiest of vidya/anime, and the occasional edgy schlock piece. Or at least it's used to be that way 10 years ago, zoomer Russian retards probably don't know shit and aren't much better in that regard.Granted, as a trade-off for these good things, the people's awareness of the Western culture (and, by extension, the cultural context behind MLP and the fandom) is pretty lacking and they're pretty ignorant in many of the things discussed here. On one hand, it's refreshing to hear unique and original opinions divorced from the rigid pool of opinions the Western culture allows you to have, on the other, the Russian brony's understanding of said culture is often simplified and based on stereotypes to some extent. As an example, something like FoE would often be shallowly seen as part of the "dark" scene of the fandom because that's the most apparent shallow impression you can get, forgetting that it still emphasizes and promotes themes of friendship and optimism.
>>41852971>People were capable of devoting themselves to an ideal.Forgot to finish: People were capable of devoting themselves to an ideal, rather than fantasize about cheap wish fulfillment 24/7.
>>41852979Ideals without merit are just autofellation. To abstain from clop and grimderp is valid, but to be self-righteous about it is the mark of a tryhard.
In what way are Soviets different from Westerners when it comes to mindset?
>>41852881I've been told by russians that dvach sucks compared to 4chan but I've wanted to meet eastern euro bronies just because I know they are (or at least were) hardcore into G4 during its run. My knowledge of the language is limited but the few times I have looked at dvach, there are a bunch of year-old threads and people mostly replying with "bump" or "cute"
>>41852999Little hesitation on fucking over their fellow man due to resigned fatalism and pessimistic outlook, but don't have much personal hatred. >t. westerner
>>41852999In post-Soviet countries the fandom was viewed somewhat differently than in the West.In Slav countries, there are two kinds of reactions to you being into ponies:>they will beat you up>they won't careThe first kind is extremely easy to identify and pretty easy to keep away from, they are usually just really uneducated, low-brow, thug-ish people, the kind that were the first to be sent to the war. Most everyone else has has better things to do than care about someone's hobby like that, like trying to make a decent living. This is opposed to the American approach, where people tend to act hypocritical and will mock and ridicule, or otherwise ostracize, other people if they engage in arbitrary "socially unacceptable" behavior. All the spiel about acceptance feels like it's conditional and only applies to specific groups, other groups are free game to mock and be disrespectful towards. The other stark difference is that a lot of people are usually more cynical by default. It's hard to describe because I rarely see similar mindsets on 4chan at all. Like, people have generally more cynical views on reality. Someone can say "the moral of this episode is nepotism is good", and they're not trying to be ironic or even critical or make an edgy joke. Their life experience has legitimately taught them that nepotism and corruption pay in life, so they mean it as a legitimate interpretation of the events, because that's the way they view life in general. It's not that they see it as ideologically "moral", it's that they see it as effective for making a decent living. This is beginning to sound like an essay on the pros and cons of a lower quality lifestyle in a second world country. People have less reason to care about morality, but also less reason to be judgemental and ostracize others for shallow reasons.
>>41852999>mindsetI wonder if they have a Russian barneyfag
>>41852881I still visit sometimes, if mostly just to read new OPs of Twilight's library. Good stuff. After all these years it's still consistently dreamy in the right way.
>>41853134>In Slav countries, [...] they will beat you upThat is true in my Western country as well. I really don't understand how people can be complete spergs in America. In my country that makes you a prime target for abuse.>Their life experience has legitimately taught them that nepotism and corruption pay in lifeBut that's true...?
>>41852881I like to check out their board like twice a year.
>>41852881Isn't dvach like run by FSB nowadays?>>41853134Eh, you kind of have two takes, Eastern eastern euro which is what you described and weirdly martyrological Czechs/Poles/Croats/Slovenes, who make shit like the Mafia or Witcher, where everyone is an asshole and everything ends horribly, but it's painted as beautiful
>>41853288Ok Paco
>>41853351>Western country>PacoYou are a retard, I take it?
>>41853365Okay Muhammad
>>41852881No. I don't even sit there and I didn't even start out on imageboards on dvatch. In general, all Russian pony sites, pony-boards on imageboards and pony-threads, in my opinion, are not much different from animechat-threads where namefags suck each other in a hundred constantly prolonging threads. I mean like anime chats, only with pony avatars.>run by FSB nowadaysYup. If he wasn't cooperating with Russian authorities, he would have been covered up quickly. Just like the old 2ch.ru, which existed for only 3 years.

>>41852971>>41853134Appreciate posts like this. Any way to learn more of the culture there back then, like some write ups? I've been trying to learn a bit of every community over the past few years.
>>41854174https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uTk0ds49HUCan't get any deeper than this. This is a song dedicated to a huge pony cyoa thing that was held on russian imageboards during very early days of the fandom (beginning summer 2011). It had a massive impact on early russian pony imageboards, and the threads are a fascinating glimpse into a very peculiar space and time that we will never see again. I can link the thread archive of this game, a number of other early cyoas like хoлoд ("frost", also very decent), and an archive of like all russian fanfiction threads from 2014 onwards. There are also incompete desuarchive-like archives of 2ch's /mlp/ where you can still find many very old threads. If anyone is interested and the thread is still alive tomorrow i can provide the links later. It's like 5am and i really need to go to bed now, my sleep schedule is already fucked enough as it is.
