As I watch the anni this year, I can't help but think that a lot of episodes are either not memorable or are just 'bad'. A lot of the episodes from season 3 and on kind of blend together. I don't want to sound like a fan of the fandom. I've been a fan since May 2012 in high school. I think the series gave us a great fantasy world basis with several fantastic waifus in their ideal forms. But, I suppose just having a simple mundane slice-of-life doesn't make for good TV. You have to have conflicts, even if it means the characters do things 'out of character.' It makes me think about how Faust said she didn't care for the show much and preferred making up her own stories with her toy ponies. I can imagine me cuddling with unicorn Twiggles in Golden Oak Library on a rainy day as she reads a book on ancient spells, but it wouldn't be a very exciting episode.

>>42667143I think it's the other way around, S1's SoL was the best and the show pivoting away from it as early as S2 was the worst mistake they've made. There's a big difference in episode structure and pacing between "stuff happens and Twilight learns a lesson by observing it or participating it" and "these events happen purely because it's these characters' turn to learn or re-learn a lesson". It doesn't feel natural, it's conflict for the sake of conflict, it's limiting, formulaic, contrived, repetitive. That's why for me also a lot of S2+ episodes blend together, ironically. Same problem for entirely different reasons.
