Because that stuff is difficult to produce, requires a lot of skills and time + resources. Greens and other pieces of literature are comparatively easy to produce and artwork is already one step above that. You're asking for the heavens here.

Drawing is hard hard lemon hard. You either git gud and burn out or stick to easier style and hone it. Writing is easier, but still requires crazy amounts of planning and time to redo things. Or you can commission your ideas, but that takes money.

"That's for us?"
>He shrugs.
>"You said you were looking for planks. We had a few spare ones left that we don't need."
>Once more, you want to thank him, but he speaks up first.
>"You're welcome. Oh, and take this."
>The Earth pony offers you a hefty jar.
>Filled with what appears to be dried berries.
>"For your storage. The taste isn't as juicy, but they last much longer. It's always a good idea to have a couple of those."
>A couple.
>You blink and eye the jar again.
>And if you had to guess, you would estimate that it could hold about one and a half or two litres of water.
>Not huge, yet nevertheless considerable.
>You salute him and take the berries.
"Thanks again. I hope we aren't tearing too many chunks out of your supplies."
>He laughs.
>"Not really. We have enough fresh berries to create new reserves. The jar itself is harder to replace, but that isn't a huge deal either."
>He pauses.
>"Trust me, our stock will be replenished before the day is over."
>You blink.
"Uh, how? Doesn't the drying process take a while?"
>The stallion grins.
>"Normally, you'd be right. But I see you haven't talked much with Droplet yet."
>You are still in the process of sorting the names and ponies of Summer Shine properly in your head, as you have not learned all of them by heart yet.
>Droplet, or Bubbly Droplet as she is called, is an exception though.
>For a very simple reason.
"You mean the Unicorn mare?"
>He nods.
>"The one. White coat. Light blue hair."
>You clear your throat.
"I mean, I've briefly met her... twice. I know who she is and where she lives. But that's about it."
>The Earth pony nods.
>"Then you know the place where you have to go when you want to dry food quickly. She has a spell somewhere in that horn of hers that pulls the water right out it in minutes. Works on all types of fruit. It's impressive... for magic gimmicks."
>Well, that mystery has been lifted.
>Hardly a surprise that a Unicorn with this sort of magic would want to live in a mostly agricultural community.
>The stallion goes on.
>"Tell you what, there's one thing you could do for me. Let's just say it's your payment for the berries."
>You give him a nod.
"Sure, what do you need?"
>He takes a breath.
>"It's pretty simple. Go to Droplet and ask her to come over this afternoon. I'd do it myself, but we'll be busy on the fields today. Tell her we need her dehydration spell for a new jar of berries."
>>
>>42643767
>Sounds easy enough.
"No problem. Consider it done."
>He nods.
>"Very well. Then we're even."
>You would not say that, considering that they have done much more for you in comparison.
>But you will certainly not pass on this chance, given that he is deliberately making it easy for you to do something for him in return.
>A moment of silence follows as the Earth pony grabs his own gear.
>"Anyway, we have to get started. The fields won't tend to themselves."
>You nod.
"Of course. See you later."
>The Earth pony stallion waves with a forehoof and trots away, heading for the nearest field.
>With him now leaving the scene, Sky Squall takes the initiative and approaches the crate which the family has prepared for you.
>And as you can see once he opens the object, it does indeed contain wooden planks.
>"Hm, I'm no woodworker, but it looks like solid work. Sturdy quality and clean cuts."
>Firefly examines the jar in your grasp and speaks up.
>"From what I've seen here, I think everything else would be below their standards."
>You raise your voice.
"Agreed. Earth ponies know their craft. That's for sure."
>You take a breath and assess the situation.
"I think we have to get going too. One thing is taken care off already, but we still have a lot ahead of us."
>#deca.mare responds to that.
>"Indeed. The plan still stands."
>You eye the crate once more.
"Not to mention that we have to lend a wagon or something to haul this thing over to the house as well."
>Sky Squall chimes in.
>"That won't be necessary. Leave it to us."
>The stallion gives Firefly a signal, and she immediately mirrors his gesture.
"Are you sure? That box is heavy."
>Sky Squall snorts.
>"No problem. Go to Droplet, you two. We'll catch up."
>You blink.
"Okay then."
>You give the jar with the berries to Firefly and turn to #deca.mare.
"Shall we?"
>She agrees right away.
>"Sure."
>Her voice turns into a whisper.
>"Droplet is still at home. We can catch her before she is on the move."
>Then the course of action is clear.
"Good to know. Let's go before she is out and about."
>A second nod from #deca.mare.
>"Agreed."
>With that said, you do not waste any time and head directly to Bubbly Droplet's home.
>And thanks to your previous get-together with virtually the entire village, no one will wonder why you already know exactly where she lives.
>So #deca.mare and you head out, whilst Firefly and Sky Squall deal with the planks and tools that were given to you.

180.2

>After five minutes and a calm walk, #deca.mare and you arrive at Bubbly Droplet's house.
>You slowly approach the front door and check if you can hear any sounds that might be coming from the inside.
>After all, if the house is only half as busy as the household of the Earth ponies, it would still be bustling with activity.
>However, you hear nothing.
>No rumbling, no steps, no voices.
>As you stop right in front of the door, you turn to #deca.mare again.
>And she knows what you are thinking.
>"Go ahead. Knock. She is here."
>So you do.
>You tap the wooden door three times and wait.
>Nothing happens at first.
>But then you hear the faint sound of steps.
>They are coming closer.
>Then they stop, and the door opens.
>A certain Unicorn mare greets you with drowsy blue eyes.
>"Ah, the newcomers. Good morning."
>You hesitate for a second before you reply, as you did not expect her to be in such a sleepy state.
"Good morning, Droplet. I... hope I didn't wake you up."
>A faint smile cracks through Bubbly Droplet's tired expression before she slowly shakes her head.
>"Don't worry, you didn't. I'm..."
>She interrupts herself as a yawn forces its way through her sentence.
>"... not on good terms with the early hours of the day. That's all."
>Which is a relief to hear.
>For you do not want to be a hassle to anyone.
>Especially not on your second day.
>She goes on.
>Drowsily, yet politely.
>"Please come in."
>She takes a step back to make way.
>So the two of you accept the invitation and do just that.
>You walk into the house, with #deca.mare following you right away.
>Then you take a look around as #deca.mare closes the door again.
>The first room of the house seems to be the living room and a sort of workroom at the same time.
>For you see one dining table, similar to the one you have seen in the other house, still filled with empty food bowls.
>But another good chunk of the room is filled with different benches, stacks of scrolls, and even a shelf full of empty glass jars.
>Said jars are either brand new, or scrubbed to an exceptional degree of perfection.
>Indeed, it is not a secret that she had a lot of time to work on her talent in this community.
>And even though it is just a guess of yours, you believe that she or her husband may even be the creator of these preservation tools.
>"What can I do for you?"
>You take a breath and smile.
"Nothing, actually."
>The mare tilts her head.
>"Oh?"
>You elaborate.
"We aren't here on our own behalf. The Grain family sends us."
>You can virtually observe how the gears in Droplet's mind slowly start to grind.
>"Ah, have they run out of dried berries?"
>#deca.mare takes over.
>"You could say that. But it is our doing, in a way. They have given us a full jar for our own reserves as a welcome gift."
>The Unicorn mare smiles more openly this time.
>"That's kind of them."
>>
>>42643775
>You are not going to disagree with that.
"It sure is. And we've agreed to come over to ask you to pay them a visit this afternoon."
>Bubbly Droplet yawns again.
>"Of course. Let me just..."
>Her horn lights up as she grabs one of the many scrolls on the benches.
>"... berries... berries... berries... ah. Here."
>You eye her as she goes through her notes.
"Are those scrolls notes for different types of food?"
>The Unicorn nods happily, and it seems as if a part of her fatigue has suddenly evaporated.
>"You got that right. You wouldn't believe how many things you can tweak in a spell formula to optimise the results."
>Well, you can imagine.
>But you obviously cannot tell her that.
"Uhm, a lot, I assume."
>This gets a chuckle out of her.
>"That's putting it mildly. But no problem. If you do it for a while, you only need to skim through the notes to recall the finer details."
>Now you smile.
"I'll keep that in mind for our next spell session."
>Bubbly Droplet looks up from her scroll to muster you again before she realises that you made a joke.
>Then she snickers before she focuses on the scroll again.
>"Alright. This afternoon. I'll be there."
>She snickers again, yet you have no idea what caused it this time.
"Hm? What's the joke?"
>The Unicorn mare sighs.
>"No joke. Just a funny recollection."
>She pauses.
>But naturally, you want to know more, now that she mentioned it.
"Of what?"
>Bubbly Droplet takes a breath.
>"The first time I went there to test my dehydration spells. It was shortly before we decided to settle here."
>You blink.
"Something didn't go according to plan?"
>She shakes her head.
>"No, it went very well for a first attempt. The process was a little unrefined, but the spell did what it was meant to do."
>So you ask the obvious next question.
"What's the funny part about it then?"
>She snickers once more.
>"The timing. It happened shortly after the two became a couple."
>This does not tell you all that much.
"And?"
>Bubbly Droplet goes on.
>"You can't know this, but their union wasn't... free of dispute."
>You raise an eyebrow.
"Huh, really? I saw no friction between them."
>The Unicorn shakes her head again.
>"It wasn't that kind of thing. They always loved each other. And perhaps 'dispute' is the wrong word. It was more like a disagreement between the families at large. The Grains and the Grapes."
>You inhale.
"Let me guess, they don't like each other."
>Much to your surprise, your assumption is rewarded with a third head shake.
>"No, they're on good terms, for the most part. They're both Earth pony families with a long tradition. The Grapes have been involved in the business of growing grapes and other berries for generations. And the Grains... I think you know."
>You nod.
"Yes."
>>
>>42643779
>Bubbly Droplet pauses for a second before she continues to tell her tale.
>"But that's where the problem was. You see, since both families take pride in their history, the parties couldn't agree on who is marrying into the family of the other. That is to say, which family name the couple will bear in the future."
>You think you can see where this is going.
"So it wasn't a dispute due to enmity. It was a dispute about a 'title'?"
>Bubbly Droplet nods.
"And how did the Grains 'win' in the end?"
>The mare smiles.
>"They didn't."
>Your confused expression speaks for itself.
>"The families struck a compromise. The couple bears both names. On all records, they're the Grains-Grapes. Or Grapes-Grains. Whichever order you prefer. But we just call them Grains because it's shorter and easier."
>You blink.
"'Just Grains', hm? I'm surprised that this decision didn't lead to the next disagreement."
>Bubbly Droplet smirks.
>"Oh, it did. But the second debate was settled with a toss of a Bit."
>You struggle not to groan.
"And why didn't they do that right from the start?"
>Now she shrugs.
>"No idea. I guess that's an Earth pony thing."
>She looks at #deca.mare.
>"Present ones not included, I presume."
>And #deca.mare shrugs with a smile.
>"We never had any disputes about family names."
>You can easily agree with that.
"Yeah. That was never a problem for us."
>The Unicorn mare smiles.
>"It's nice to hear that not all families are so rigid in their positions."
>#deca.mare and you exchange subtle glances, but neither of you wants to comment on that.
>And, fortunately, you do not have to.
>For someone is knocking on the door again.
>Bubbly Droplet reacts at once.
>"My, a busy start of the day."
>She walks to the door and reaches for the handle with her magic aura.
>Then she opens the door and faces a certain couple of Pegasi.
>Bubbly Droplet seems to be a little bit surprised, but she remains polite and accommodating.
>"Now the other two. Good morning!"
>The mare waves Firefly and Sky Squall in.
>"How can I help you?"
>Firefly responds.
>"To be honest, you can't."
>Bubbly Droplet tilts her head.
>"You too, hm? What's your errand?"
>Firefly blinks in confusion.
>"What do you mean?"
>#deca.mare decides to explain the situation in order to resolve the misunderstanding.
>"They have come to meet us, Droplet. We still have a lot of things on our list today."
>And Bubbly Droplet can connect the dots in her mind.
>"Right, I assume you have to gather some stuff to restore the old house."
>You nod.
"Pretty much. We have our work cut out for us."
>Bubbly Droplet listens attentively.
>"I hope my antics didn't drag you down."
>You shake your head.
"Don't worry, our schedule is a little stiff, but not so stiff that a nice talk messes with our plans. Though we shouldn't tarry too much either."
>>
>>42643782
>Sky Squall agrees.
>"Right. I think I've seen a boisterous cloud formation with my name written on it on our way here."
>Strange.
>The stallion seems to be strangely energetic, even for his standards.
>Did the transport of the crate fire him up to such a degree?
>You hope that he remembers to temper his eagerness at least a little bit today.
>The scroll in Bubbly Droplet's aura floats back to its stack.
>Once the mare has released the scroll from her remote grip, she grabs one of the jars off the shelf instead.
>"Very well. Then let me check one . I don't know how many the Grains have left in reserve."
>You turn to the Unicorn, as you sense a chance to test your previous theory.
"So you make these too?"
>She nods.
>"I do. It's not hard to shape glass when you've learned a few basic heat spells and know how to concentrate them."
>She clears her throat.
>"Though don't expect the Platinum Glass Masters to give my spellweaving stellar commendations. To them, my skills equal that of an apprentice."
>You shrug.
"I can't be the judge of that. But the jars work, don't they?"
>The mare nods a second time.
>"Guaranteed."
>You start to smile.
"Then they're good in the eyes of the ponies here. And that's what matters the most if you ask me. Us included."
>You turn to the rest of your group.
"Right?"
>And the three agree unanimously.
>Bubbly Droplet smiles eagerly as she sees that.
>"Thank you. Much appreciated."
>You give her one last nod before you turn around.
"Any time. But we should be on our way now."
>The Unicorn mare takes a breath.
>"Good luck with your preparations! And see you later!"
>The four of you turn to the door, and Sky Squall tries to open it.
>However, he does not get the chance to do so.
>Because just as he is trying to reach for the handle, the door seemingly opens itself.
>And considering that you could not see a magic aura around any part of the door, it is evident that this is not Bubbly Droplet's doing.
>Regardless of the reason though, the Pegasus stallion is caught by surprise, and he takes a sudden step forward to compensate.
>Which in turn causes his head to bump into the chest of a pony who just happens to stand on the other side.
>And said pony is the only Unicorn stallion in the entire village.
>The colour of his coat is very similar to that of his wife, maybe only a tad lighter, and the hair of his mane and tail sport a warm citrine hue.
>Same as his eyes.
>Really, if the two were not married to one another, one could think that they might be siblings.
>Rather unsurprisingly though, the Unicorn is visibly confused to see Sky Squall stumbling right into him.
>He takes a few steps back as well whilst Sky Squall regains his footing.
>Then he speaks up.
>"Well, I've heard that the greeting rituals between Pegasi are very direct, but that's a bit sudden."
>Sky Squall takes a breath and eyes the Unicorn as he collects his thoughts to reply properly.
>"Sorry, I wasn't aware that you were coming. This was bad timing."
>>
>>42643786
>The Unicorn, Fine Point as you remember, takes the situation with a bit of light-hearted humour.
>"I thought so. But please forgive my surprise. Pegasi don't storm through my house door every day."
>He spots the rest of you.
>"Oh, his complete entourage too. Did I miss an invitation?"
>One could easily interpret his words as a subtle criticism or even sarcasm.
>However, his still relaxed tone tells you that he is not that type of pony.
>He is curious, yet also somewhat puzzled by the display.
>And you can easily understand why, given that he had no idea whatsoever.
>But #deca.mare is quick to give him a brief summary.
>"No. We were just here to tell Droplet that the Grain family wants to see her this afternoon. They want her to dry some berries since they have given us a part of their reserves."
>You go on.
"You literally caught us on the way out. We've got a list of things we must organise so that we can start our little house restoration project."
>Fine point believes that right away.
>"Hm, I see."
>He curiously examines your group.
>"Then I hope you get everything you nee..."
>The stallion stops abruptly as he looks at #deca.mare a second time.
>"Hold on."
>He starts to walk as if he is drawn to something.
>Fine Point trots past Sky Squall.
>Then he passes you.
>Straight towards #deca.mare, with his focus on her the entire time.
>Needless to say, his behaviour does strike you as very odd.
>Fine Point comes to a stop right in front of #deca.mare.
>And he idles there for maybe three or four seconds, apparently doing nothing.
>Except for watching.
>The Unicorn stands as if he were frozen in place and observes.
>But then he inhales and speaks up.
>"May I?"
>#deca.mare nods without a word and smiles, adding to your confusion.
>And with her approval, Fine Point lowers his head and presses it right against the side of her barrel.
>Then his horn starts to glow, apparently without focussing on anything.
>You look over to Sky Squall, and he does the same in turn.
>It does not take you much to see that both of you think alike.
>This demeanour is not exactly normal behaviour, even in the eyes of the fairly light standards within pony society.
>And you are just about to ask what the hell he is doing as a smile grows on Fine Point's face.
>He retracts his head and takes a deep breath.
>"Well, what do you know. Congratulations!"
>You blink in disbelief as you can guess what just happened and chime in.
"You... you sensed it? Just by looking at her?"
>The Unicorn stallion turns to you, smiling casually.
>"Of course."
>Again, you can only blink.
"How?"
>Fine Point keeps smiling, and you must admit that you are still bewildered by his nonchalant demeanour.
>"Because I'd be a shoddy healer if I didn't."
>>
>>42643793
>You immediately say what you think as you hear that.
"Oh."
>A pause.
"I... had no idea."
>Fine Point reacts to your comment with a healthy dose of levity.
>"Few ponies do initially. Magical cures and practices are barely known beyond the learned circles."
>The stallion laughs.
>"Some ponies even get nervous when they see us at work and don't know what we're doing. Especially those who can't practice magic themselves."
>He takes a breath.
"You did too, didn't you."
>Once again, you hear no traces of any accusation or disapproval in his voice.
>He is merely stating what he thinks to be true.
>And if you are honest with yourself, he is partially correct.
"Well, I must admit that I didn't know what to make of this."
>And who could blame you?
>After all, approaching a barely known and already married mare to investigate her barrel out of the blue is about as blunt as things can get.
>Granted, he vaguely asked for permission first, but still.
>He is definitely more direct than you have anticipated.
>But apart from his questionable way of approaching some things, he does appear to be genuine and benign.
>And he is just about to further cement this impression as he goes on.
>"Now you know. If you ever feel ill or need some other treatments, you can come any time. Doesn't matter how late or how early. Our door is always open for pressing situations."
>You think that Bubbly Droplet could be tempted to disagree with the early part of that statement, but you get what he means.
>When his services are needed, he will be available.
>Fine Point pauses.
>"Foaling aid included, if you need it."
>Well, he is indeed a bona fide first aid pony, through and through.
>You can start to see why the reputation of the couple has risen so notably in this community.
>Their talents are, for all intents and purposes, a double blessing in such a remote place of the realm.
>You respond with a nod.
"Thank you, Fine Point. We'll keep that in mind. And if there's something we can do for you, we'll be happy to help out too."
The Unicorn smiles politely.
>"Duly noted."
>As you eye him again, a certain thought crosses your mind.
>Because considering the way how Fine Point talks and acts, not to mention his mentioning of "learned circles", you would not be surprised if the stallion had some form of a noble upbringing.
>It would certainly explain his quirky attitude in some regards.
>But even if that were to be the case, he is clearly not defined by the more eccentric aspects of a noble lineage.
>No, as far as you can tell, he seems to be happy with leading a relatively simple life in a quiet village, helping his family and others with the skills that he has acquired.
>For a brief moment, you are inclined to read Fine Point's biography, just out of curiosity.
>And to see whether your theories are correct.
>Yet you quickly discard the idea, as you have promised not to pry.
>>
>>42643798
>You take a long breath.
"But I guess it's really time to go. Our work won't do itself."
>Fine Point nods.
>"True. See you later. And good luck."
>Once more, the four of you head for the door, with you taking the lead this time.
>As you reach the exit, you decide to open said door without hesitation, not really expecting another coincidence.
>And indeed, no accidental Unicorn intervention messes with your attempt.
>You can simply push the door open, and are greeted by an empty trail.
>Then you leave the abode and slowly follow the short trail which leads to the "main road" of the village.
>You wait until the rest of your group has caught up before you raise your voice.
"Okay, what's the next point of interest?"
>This question is primarily addressing #deca.mare, given that she has made some arrangements.
>Like the cloud which Sky Squall has mentioned.
>And she responds right away.
>"I have a place in mind."
>Like clockwork.
"Right. Then lead the way."

Do they already have glasswares? Especially transparent glassware. They sure quickstarted the technological development of the ponies.

>Do they already have glasswares?
To a certain limited extent. It's not exactly a widespread craft, but particularly skilled Unicorns have been active in this field for a while now. That was also mentioned quite some time ago when Anon and #deca.mare married "officially". The community house of the Earth ponies where the ceremony took place had glass windows. And these were exclusively created by Unicorns for a very hefty pile of coins, prior to the Unification. As such, glass products are likely to become a little less rare, now that the tribes are no longer separated, but they're most certainly still valuable and comparatively infrequent.
>I sense a tiny bit of racism here.
Just the usual annotations that proud Earth ponies utter when they're talking about things like magic.
>I sense that there is something else between the two
If you're implying adultery, then no. That's not a thing I want to delve into.
>Oh wait, this is not that green.
No idea which green you might be thinking of.
>So one name won after all.
Kind of, but not really. On all official records, both names will be listed side by side. Using just one of the two is merely for everyday convenience purposes.
>But it's much harder to create glass which does not look like shit.
Keep in mind that Unicorns can manipulate matter on a much finer level than everyone else. They don't even have to touch the hot glass to shape it.
>The door was not opened via magic, but were opened by an unicorn.
It's not explicitly mentioned, but the idea was that Fine Point magically grabbed the outer part of the handle. And this glow cannot be seen from the inside.
>Maybe they are cousines or something. I would not be surprised, small settlements were pretty inbred in human history.
Maybe, but I'm personally not too fond of the idea to be honest.
>Btw, doors usually open inside.
Oh, that's a derp on my end. I didn't consider that whilst writing the scene. My bad.
>>
>>42657917
>the most perfect mare

>>
>>42664889
>implying adultery
If I did: How was I supposed to know that she has a husband?
If I didn't: They could still be related or something.
>No idea which green
Any green where the man/stallion cums a lot of times and at the end he is shooting sand.
>Kind of, but not really.
I got that, you don't have to explain.
>glass to shape it
I was not talking about the shape, but the material itself. Just search for images showing how early glass looked. Uniform glass is a relatively recent invention (about 1000 year old), while clear glass (more like opaque at first) is only 500 years old. I doubt they have access to the raw materials and additives at the required purity to make decent glass. And do t forget that the melti g point of glass is 1400-1600c, much higher than metals. And glass needs to cool slowly to over the course of hours to not build up internal stress. Else it just explodes on the first touch. Metal (tin) canisters would be more realistic.
>glow cannot be seen from the inside
Then that stallion is sneaky! Magic has a sound plus the footsteps could have been heard. If Sky (the person inside) were the one who opens the door and looks back thus not noticing the stallion (the person outside, standing an the door) and bumping into him would be the setup most books/movies use.

>If I did: How was I supposed to know that she has a husband?
Because Firefly mentioned earlier that a singular family of Unicorns is living in the village, consisting of a couple and their foals. That's why I didn't pick this up again and assumed it would be clear. But granted, it has been a while since that chapter was written, so that detail might easily slip through the cracks due to said long time span.
>If I didn't: They could still be related or something.
Yeah, that's a good point. I didn't consider this option.
>Any green where the man/stallion cums a lot of times and at the end he is shooting sand.
Ah, okay. Not a particular one then.
>I was not talking about the shape, but the material itself.
I see. And well, maybe I went a tad far with the glass being so clean. I'll think about it.

as they are little ponies, your average mare would probably weigh about as much as a big dog (so somewhere between 200~260lbs). Erf ponies are denser and are closer to the tail end of the spectrum, pegasuses are lighter and could be under the 200 mark. Bigger little ponies can get up to 600lbs, though the biggest little ponies would surely make themselves lighter with magic so you can princess carry them.
