Welcome friends, ITT:We make and share pony art, with absolutely no pressure to deliver anything that's technically good (besides having ponies in it, which makes it good by default)Make something, share what you've done, and give feedback and motivation to help us all keep improving and creating! This thread's focus is art, but beginner or low effort content of any kind is welcome here. If you do want to post about something else like music, gamedev, or crafts, though, just note that you may find better help and feedback posting it in the /create/ threadAre you an experienced artist? PICO BALLIN
I think pixel brush is my new favorite, somehow It's very satisfying to use them.>>42685598No way, I love drawing too! She looks so excited, and I want to smooch her!
>>42686332very nice def a qt ponk saved
>>42686332Based pixel brush user,
I'm not done gooning quite yet. Redid one of the first clop pics I ever drew https://files.catbox.moe/gn9a62.png>>42685598Hell yea brother!>>42686332That is a super cute pinkie bro
>>42685603hot

Flutts and ducks. (And a babby NEET who will trip on her mane very very shortly)
>>42689274damn that's a lot of improvement dude>>42689870qtqtqtqt
I found this guy named Christophe Young on YouTube, and I like how he draws hair. Going to try and implement it in my mare drawings.
>>42691627based
As long as you're working on something, you're wanted. Whatever hang-ups, you hit it, I'll still love to see it.
>>42693344first nice digits czeched, second based motivator.
Misfire CUTE
somewhat satisfied with this attempt
>>42694920Me too.
>>42694920I like her little stompy steps
>>42694919Hell yeah brother Agreed >>42694920C U T E
>>42689709Love her.
been a while since I've done something pony related. decided to keep things simple and low effort by doing a copy, with some of my own twist of course. but otherwise remaining faithful to the original, right side is my copy.
Madame Derpy runs a tight ship
>>42699154That looks great bro, you definitely improved on it. The extra saturation in the colors is nice. I'm curious, who is the original artist?
>>42700077thanks and the og is maytee
she got bigi wish i couldve drawn a different cutie mark on her
Drew this a few weeks back. Wanted there to be more Anonpone slice-of-life interactions specific to pony abilities.
>>42700483Why didn't you?
>>42700483Holy fuck, she's extra big. That's crazy.>>42701865Anoncolt(?) is a real stinker.
>>42701865holy shit you have impeccable handwriting>>42702773 KEK she looks so miserable
Got distracted with the anni and didn't make anything new...
A good open source software to animate with deformation, puppets, rigs and symbol library? Synfig is kinda ugly and Krita is limited beyond frame by frame animation
>>42701865her head is so smallfuck these new captchas, wtf
Spindly creature with something wrong. It’s probably the proportions. Maybe I will not use a reference next time and see how bad it can get
>>42704539looong mare
>>42703652I'll admit I was going for more realistic proportions while keeping with the cartoony look. But in the context of G4 character design, yeah, it does look too small.
>>42704539There are some ponies with legs that long, though the bottom-most section is too long relative to the upper two sections. All the other proportions seem within the range of standard pony sizes, in terms of leg length your drawing is roughly comparable to Celestia.
Some pony practice from long ago
>>42705305So pretty Pinkie
I don't get to draw ponies much, but the anniversary stream sparked my motivation to get something done.Blueberry is one of my favorites.
>>42703650it's synfig or opentoonz. Both sucks but opentoonz sucks less if you use the flatpak cuz getting an updated package or compiling it yourself both sucks. Oh, also, that age3rcm dude made a generic pony rig for opentoonz. It's not very optimized and the puppets aren't show accurate but it's cool. If you have access to the leaks you can use that, i guess, but not on any libre software.
>>42706510I don't know what this artstyle is called but it's fucking gorgeous. It looks like one of those early 2000s cartoons but like, actually from it instead of just imitating the style. Good shit Anon
>>42694920Not bad.
>>42706510nice work brother
I need someone who isn't good at drawing wings to draw them closed, half open and open. It's for a learning resource. It would help if I had an example of the usual way.
I am a fucking hack all I do is photobash and trace. I am a fucking cheat. I can't draw for the life of me, I try to do the exercises and all I get is fucking chicken scratch shit on a canvas. HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DRAW FROM THE SHOULDER?! I have a wacom and the desk space to fit said table and a keyboard and that's it. I have no freedom of movement where I live and I am only comfortable have the tablet to the side because of said limited space. I'm screaming and yelling here because /ic/ told me to kill myself because I want to draw magical creatures
>>42706510cute!
>>42707540/ic/ is a beg trap anon. you gotta dial back the despair and focus on one thing first and foremost: having fun doing what your doing. drawing from the shoulder is intended for large strokes and movements for the most part, then the elbow, then the wrist, fingers, etc. if you want to learn to draw from scratch without bashing, i suggest beginning with learning to construct what you see, i.e. taking a drawing or something and trying your best to build it with basic shapes and then the major detail, minor details. chicken scratch is common, the solution is line confidence. go slower, let yourself make mistakes and get the muscle memory set up right.
>>42707540A good way to overcome chicken scratching/building line confidence is this lil exercise that I learned from a Peter Han class.Basically, you set up the lines(like the black ones), then you do your best to either draw circles between them of varying sizes, trace said lines to become more consistent with your pen control, use a random blob to learn how shading/forms work, and then using simple patterns to both understand dark/light when broken down into simple pen strokes. All of these can be changed from bigger/smaller circles, weirder lines, weirder shapes, and different kinds of patterns. The important thing is, this is a warm-up, and afterwards you should try and draw something on your own. Good for newbies still trying to get their foot in the door and one day you won't even need this. All done from the shoulder btw. Generally it'll tire out your shoulder starting out, but it's a good habit to build if you can manage it. That way you also don't get carpal tunnel or some other crazy shit.
>>42707540>/ic/ told me to kill myselfLmao, at this point it's their way of saying welcome. So what you're not the greatest at drawing right now, we all suck and or sucked when starting besides some exceptions. Take a step back and think why you wanna draw in the first place and have that as a goal always.
haven't drawn in some time, been having feelings recently, so I drew a tired mare. tried a slightly different approach than usual and I feel like it's come out better than my other drawings
Hi bale. I drew you another rainbow dash. Please look after her while i go be a wagie. She looks hungry i think we should draw her some food
any tips on snouts?
>>42707934here's some food, enjoy
>>42708229dont undersell the jaw, some people will draw a circle or square to represent the bridge of the nose as well to help with width/depth. nostrals also help to map out the shape a bit better ive found
>>42707934Cute dashieI'm gonna feed her so much slop you won't recognise her when you get back.
>>42707543>>42706992Thanks a bunch!>>42706582The Blueberry Curls picture I did was mostly based off of the Little Golden Book style, painters like Mary Blair, Mel Crawford, Scott Wills, Lou Romano and Sue Mondt are a big influence on my painting style.Though I do also really like drawing in a 2000s-influenced style. I always felt it would be a really good fit for MLP considering season 1 had a lot of Cartoon Network veterans working on it like Rob Renzetti and Paul Rudish. Paul in particular is a big influence on me with his work on the early Dexter's Lab episodes and his pilot 3 Dog Band.I think season 1 in particular has a lot of very stylized shots and composition that I enjoy, Applebuck Season in particular has this shot I really like of Applejack having the apple cart stuck between the two hills, I think that shot was framed pretty nicely with AJ filling in the empty space in the sky between the two mountains in the background.Anywho, does anyone have tips on posing? I'm not too used to drawing quadrupeds.
Trix
Getting bored at work and started scribbling on the sides of the notebook pages. https://files.catbox.moe/kzu133.jpgShit sucks cause i ONLY get the drive and inspiration to draw when Im working, when i get home i'm too tired to actually sit down and try to learn it properly
>>42710458i know that feel. i get inspiration to draw at work, but i can't draw at work. when i get home i don't wanna do jack shit.
>>42709009kino
>>42707734Hi, anon, I like this sitting pose. The thighs could be a little bigger and not come down so far over the folded legs on the bottom, they look like saggy knees.
>>42708438I got some horse sketches from Disney, could this help??
>>42710458>>42710470Yes, procrastination is the death of art. Even though I don't have a job, I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes you just have to eat the frog and get it over with and get past the hard starting stage, it takes about 10-20 minutes to "warm up"
>>42709009She really is a magician.Smoochable mare

First time trying to do the dark magic eye smoke. I just skimmed through like 15 seconds of a tutorial on YouTube. You can probably tell, lol.
Finished this sleepy mare sketch. Imagine living such a simple life. Just filling up on grass and then having a snooze in the sun, right on top of your food.
>>42713229A beautiful life for a beautiful mare
>>42713229nice june bug
>>42707553>you gotta dial back the despair and focus on one thing first and foremost: having fun doing what your doing.This. And hard. >>42707540Try to calm down, perhaps play a game or go for a run, or something. Then, when you feel ready, come back and focus on the fun. Do something you know you can do. From there, your curiosity will make you try harder things. This way, it's both a fun and a learning experience.
yo faggots, this shit look good?
>>42707540Also, if you feel really bad, call the emergency hotline for your place. There is some help out there.
>>42713051
>>42713826Hey isnt that the anime were the guy gets fucked in the ass? Why are you posting an anime were a guy gets fucked in the ass? You want us to watch an anime with a guy getting fucked in the ass?

Am curious how often have people from bale put effort to improve, and if they've felt that they've improved in accordance to that.
Boop
>>42706558Gonna try OpenToonz later thanks for the help dude
Found time last night to draw these two.
>>42716269>>42716272Based not bad at all anon
>>42716269Look at that smile!
Did this for Inktober day 23.
>>42714370yes
>>42716086
>>42714370erm... the ass fucking scene wasn't in the anime ackshually...
>>42717284
>>42715279I hope it's quite often. I know it sure happened to me. Just a lot of great resources here, and seeing the stuff coming from here was also inspiring (I hope that doesn't sound insulting I didn't mean it like that lol)
>>42715279I don't know about putting effort into improving, but I feel like I did improve by drawing more, if that counts.
>>42715279IVE NEVER CARED ABOUT IMPROVING, I JUST WANTED UPDOOTS ON 4CHIN MUWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!1
Can’t believe I haven’t posted this before to /bale/, but here’s another drawing of the faggot of my machination, Hangfire, doing the one thing he’s good at, failing attempts
>>42717836Schizo moment, forgot to attach the image.
>>42710741appreciate the feedback. I've been trying to work on poses and proportion more since I'm pretty weak on that front
Some of you more experienced draw fags should post some of your early attempts to make pone. Before and now comparisons are great. If you post it try to give a rough timeline between the two so we have a time scale
>>42707734I really like your artstyle, you have to upload more.
>>42717954A few of my early drawings looked like fucked up dogs, but I have since moved toward cat. I feel like my progress hasn't been incredibly fast, but I'm glad that I've been sticking to it and still have ambition to keep learning. Most of my drawing time is spent on simpler doodles and stuff, but every now and then I like to up the effort a bit to see what I can do. I feel like a healthy mix of effort is great for keeping things fun and productive.
stained glass window drawing
>>42717690
>>42715279This thread has definitely motivated me to draw more consistently than I ever did before. I think a lot of my improvement can be attributed to that >>42716902Perfect outfit for that prompt, nice Rarity bro>>42717954Time scale here >>42689274 is 1 year and 1 week between the 2 drawings
>>42717954I got precise dates on mine, the anonfilly on the right is my most recent work that isn't a stylistic copy or outright a copy. my most recent work was a copy/redraw right here >>42699154.>>42718953the catbox link is kill brother
>>42719122hahah pig snout filly
a bit of practice
Hello I am a Linux god and I tried Krita, is this the best choice (I use KDE so i went with it + I don't like GIMP. Also what does a beginner need to know and shi, I'm guessing just this stuff:>Guides, tutorials and resources! Start here!>https://mares.horse/bale>https://ponepaste.org/8268/bale/ videos:https://pony.tube/c/bale_stuff/videos
>>42719811I just went off memory btw I didn't look at anything I just did it in like 5mins for fun it's my bedtime soon
>>42718466cool idea, love that rose-like eye, wonder if it would be doable out of actual stained glass
>>42719811https://pony.tube/w/mHD4nFdRdfyz5SutiNtsCvthis also helped me a bit, krita has everything u need but the interface gives me autocad ptsd and is cramped as fuck on android so I use CSP but from the brief stint I had with it I remember it having all of the important functions, software doesn't really matter that much, it's like with DAWs where they basically have the same functions and it all depends on your preference
>>42719870i have no idea, possibly if you did everything as separate pieces, i imagine ponies use magic in their art though which probably helps
>>42719811first off, install opentabletdriver you fucking nigger. second off, krita is the best for drawing, yes.
