Alright I got it started. don't let me down!
Which drugs would be worth taking? I'm thinking Dash.
>>42687892Dash for me too, I wanna go fast
>>42687823Damn fallout can be cool.
Just gonna drop my FoE OC horse. Originally made her for a FoE game an then kept her after it.
>>42688927That claw must make it hard to walk, what's her story, nonny?
>>42688968She was basically a former Enclave unit captain, lost her wings and hoof during a battle then her missing hoof replaced with a robotic prosthetic. She also had a bounty on her head by the NCR. So, on a few occasions the party had to deal with random bounty hunter encounters.
>>42689023Cool, I hadn't noticed the weird wing thingy, hope she is okay
>>42689111She mostly hides the scars where her wings were under her clothes. Her experiences did mess her up mentally, but she thankfully didn't become a total wreck like BlackJack was. Funny thing, the party did actually run into a whiskey horse one time and GM had to stat her.
>>42688927She got a name?
>>42689358Blitzhoof or Blitzy for short.
>>42689023Will she ever fly again?
>>42689447If she finds herself a pair of cybernetic wings, might be a chance.
>>42689560But apart from PH's anime level power creep, those things are very rare in the wastes.
>>42689023Why are the NCR mad at her?>>42689443Was it one of these sinister prophethic names, or did she change it when she got herself grounded?>>42689447I volunteer to throw her up for like half a meter. Maybe a little higher if she's not too heavy.
>>42689582>Why are the NCR mad at her?Basically she and her squad took over an NCR outpost and then massacred all the NCR staff that surrendered.>Was it one of these sinister prophethic names, or did she change it when she got herself grounded?I guess can be called a sinister prophetic name. The party just called her "Captain" in public and Blitzy only when they had downtime.
>>42689714What an Enclave captain does? Was there a cloud ship under her command, or am I thinking too big or small?
>>42687804link to previous thread where, faggot
>>42689990Too big, she was mostly a captain of a small unit of Enclave troops.
>>42687804PREVIOUS THREAD>>42595090
>>42685238>>42685232During storming the Cathedral when she met the mad doc and got analyzed.>There are five stages of Impelled Metamorphosis development in a viable subject. The first three levels are well documented in my research journals, the most significant being incremental changes to the subject’s relationship to and tolerance of radiation. >Radiation-induced regeneration, even to the point of regrowing limbs, begins at the first stage and radically improves in the second. >When the subject reaches the third stage of Impelled Metamorphosis development, the subject’s body actually becomes stronger and faster in the presence of radiation, similar to the “glowing ghoul” and a precursor to the “super alicorn” phenomenon. The subject’s healing becomes so advanced that the natural aging process is all but halted.>...>First, it has proven virtually impossible to expose a pony to enough I.M.P to bring them to the third stage without crossing the threshold into the fourth. The few examples of successfully stable third-stage subjects have all been in the wild under unrepeatable circumstances. Which is too fucking bad, since stable stage threes have capabilities that give Doc Slaughter’s vaunted “enhancements” a run for their bits.>that the natural aging process is all but haltedIt's highly implied that Pip is third stage, not second.
>>42690242P.S. And even if she is second stage, then that with regeneration just means that she will live for several centuries rather than "until killed", as long as she drinks some aqua cura once in a while - in practical terms that's exactly the same, as all the boo-hooing about the injuries and needing the pod is completely negated anyway. Even with the most charitable interpretation about the injuries that would be "completely normal lifespan due to injuries and IMP cancelling each other".
Finished Book 2 of Project Horizons. The story was thoroughly spoiled for me at this point, but it still hurt to read. Also the people who say stop reading at Chapter 33 are fucking idiots. Blackjack just fucking dies without completing any real character arc or getting answers to the whole EC-1101/Hoofington plotline. I maintain that if you wanna read Horizons, either stop at Chapter 25 and imagine your own ending, or keep going at least until Book 4.
>>42690074What's her personality like? I wanna know so I can maybe stick her in as a cameo in a story I'm working on.
>>42689996>>42690223OP here, it was late and I forgot. Sue me.
>>42690074Oh and also what color are her mane and coat?
>The Ghost of the Long 52
>>42690372She was kinda abrasive towards Earth Ponies, calling them Ground Pounders. Though, she has a very deep respect for ponies who keep fighting even when odds against'em, since she believes those are stronger due to their resolve.
>>42690387Oh ye, forgot to show her colored version.
>>42687804Why do people say Littlepip is a psychopath? Is it the normalfag view of psychopathy that makes them say that?
the more of these fics i read the more emotional i get when little callbacks or references to other stories are made. it's a fun little ecosystem for protagonists to hear about eachother's exploits or hear them mentioned in one off lines.
>>42690574>Anthr--oh. Never mind.
>>42690815Well, she ain't anthro. Just got this version of her standing on her back hind hoofs. I do have another version, which is well more normal looking
>>42690583She's constantly sperging out and passing ethical judgement on ponies she's just met. Though I'd say she's immature/autistic rather than psychopathic.
Also, the scene where the party had an encounter with BJ.
>>42690574>>42690825 Lyra approves! Thanks for the character info. She'll have fun giving shit to my main character, Pressure Point. He's an earth pony guard for hire. No art for him yet though.
>>42690978Ehhh... a lot of wastelanders are morally deficient rejects. Not all of them though.
>>42691031Heh I think I'll have Pressure Point call her Stubby.
>>42691063Lol, okay I actually like the sound of that.
>>42691091"Ground Pounder" fits Pressure Point really well, he's got terrible aim, so he's a hoof to hoof fighter.
>>42691118Yap, that would make sense. Oh ye, one more thing about Blitzhoof, like I said she does show deep respect for ponies who fight no matter the odds. That respect also extends to her enemies.
>>42690995That encounter looks like it was pretty deadly.
>>42691031Isn't that a recolor from a Blackjack pic?
>>42691856It was, specially since the party wasn't really well prepped to handle the whiskey horse and some criminals.
>>42692020So it was a wipe?
>>42692224Eh, not really. Took a huge beating, but had some lucky dice rolls (and combat drugs) to make it through, but we didnt wanna fight BJ, so we legged it an couldnt get a bounty on her, got one fo the bandit leadee instead.
>>42692268ziggas really went after the adam smasher of hoofington
>>42691996It is!
It's still Murktober you bastards
>>42693065Correct you are!I consider Pink Eyes, Murky Number Seven, and Heroes (though I need to finish reading it) to be compatible with Littlepip's story.Project Horizons is like the Fortnite of FOE stories. I'm glad it exists, but only because it distracts the preteens and weebs from bothering the rest of us. The first 20 something chapters are pretty good and I could see a version of Blackjack existing in the canon universe, but not all the anime inspired crap after that. I stopped reading after chapter 30.Plus I'm not the biggest fan of constant grape and mutilations. Anyone feel that way?
>>42692268So your party basically collectively went "Nah we're not him" thats unironically funny asf.
>>42692302Accurate.
>>42693190Murky Number Seven is the only story of the big five that's held my interest until the end. Heroes and Pink Eyes were so awkwardly written that I dropped them rather fast. The original FoE has awful characters exploring an interesting world. Whereas Project Horizons has great characters exploring an awful world. The former I dropped halfway through because I was so annoyed by Pip's internal dialogue and actions. The latter has held my interest so far, even if the setting is bleak and cruel, because the characters and certain scenes are just that good.
>>42692302Yap, pretty much. I think we were like level 5-6 at the time and BJ from how I recall was close to lvl 15 or something like that.>>42693725Ye, we later had to really restock on drugs, ammo and meds, basically blew our whole earning from the bandit leader bounty. Blitz was actually determined to face BJ in battle again, while our Zeeb chemist/cybernetic expert wanted to study her implants better.
>>42694829Can't Blitz just feign her death or something?
>>42694858Would be kinda a challenge, since the robotic hoof would stick out, plus she still wears her old unifom just without the insignias on it.
Up.
>>42694829Also remember BJ has literal plot armor. You can't kill her. Or at least keep her dead.
>>42695772That being her special talent is beyond dumb. Absolute Mary Sue writting and not how talents have ever worked.
>>42695880I mean, it comes with a very high trade-off. She can't lose, but she'll lose everything in the process. That sucks big time for her.
>>42695880>>42696058Blackjack could be made a better character, but that would require rewriting her entire fic and deconstructing the idea of self-destructive altruism that she's built around
>>42693725Except for me, I'd win
>>42696345Okay, pick the way you want to go. Do you want a Deus sendoff, a Gorgon one, or something else?
>>42696058I'm not trying to take away the enjoyment from anyone. And Somber has some great character writing at points (which he ruins with pointless grape and suffering scenes). But it goes full cyberpunk weeb and loses the feeling of Fallout pretty quickly. Somber's world building reminds me of Lost, all smoke and no substance until it insists it's deep and meaningful. And I never read past chapter 30.>>42694033 Her talent is some mystical super being that will never let her lose as long as she suffers for it later. You do get how dumb that sounds right? Not even the show had the balls to do something like that and it put their cutie marks on mystical crystal tree. The closest you can get is the CMC sharing a talent for helping others find their talent (which is also kinda dumb, but toy sales I guess).Pink Eyes is non-standard. I'll give you that. I need to finish Heroes, but I think its great so far.Murky's only real sins are a bit too much suffering and being a too horny for its own good. But I adore it.
>>42695772Dunno about plot armor, but her cybernetics were def very well armored, we only managed to hit her twice during combat.
>>42696695Blitzy is built different.
>>42696931>full cyberpunk weeb and loses the feeling of Fallout pretty quicklyYeah, he goes way too far into anime fights. That's definitely one of PH's greatest weak points.
>>42696960Ye, that she's a trained soldier with combat experience, an even then she'd have a careful approach towards the Whiskey horse.
>>42696228I'd argue that "Deconstructing the idea of self-destructive altruism" is PH's real big problem. Blackjack is a walking red flag, and her friends realize that at MULTIPLE TIMES yet they always give up and let her wander off to go get mentally broken all over again rather than just forcing her to sit down and actually work on her issues. Glory was right, Blackjack needed a damn LEASH and they should have just tied her down instead of making her Team Leader all the time. The punchline of her special talent forcing her to be this way was the peak of the fic's bullshit to try and desperately justify the godawful "BJ is immortal now and will outlive the universe" ending.
>>42696931>>42697215I'm only on Chapter 35. What you're describing comes at the end, right? I didn't plan on reading past Book 4. I know the story gets absurd but I wanted more of the worldbuilding and character stuff that happens in the middle. Stopping at Chapter 33 just felt really unsatisfying to me.
bump
>>42697406Yea the cutie mark stuff is all central to Book Five, but it starts in Four and that's the one where it just becomes comical how clueless her and all her friends are to watching each other self destruct in the most overblown ways. Four mainly sucks with the whole MUH GODESS, BLACKJACK COULD TOTALLY DIVERGE FROM THE CANON AND KILL PIP, HER DEAL WITH TRIXIE AND PSALM'S SUBPLOT IS TOTALLY GONNA HAVE PAYOFF I SWEAR
>>42697215I try to get this straight: So Blackjack should have a (legal) guardian to keep her in line and away from troubles, but she can't have because of her special talent? What's her special talent anyway?I haven't read the fic, but I like to read summary of it. She comes across someone as self damning alcoholic, perma horny wooby. well, no one would care about a character like that for this long, there must be something else for being so popular.
>>42698456This is why I'm glad I stopped at chapter 30.More important is how much stuff Pip can carry. It's a lot.
>>42698544Lil'Pip always comes fully prepped for a fight.
>>42698531Blackjack is a funny and endearing character, who's genuinely trying to do the right thing and help people. The setting just repeatedly contrives to fuck her and her friends over. She's "self destructive" because she keeps throwing herself in harms way to protect others, even when it gets her shot up. Then she goes and gets all sad and angsty because ponies end up dying anyways. Which is the annoying part, you can't personally save everyone. Her special talent is playing cards but I guess later on in the fic it gets contorted into this shit >>42696931
>>42696931>I never read past chapter 30Without opining on PH itself, it is very funny to me every single person who bitches about anything past going back to the stable hasn't actually read the story. I have a friend who makes wild assertions about the end of the story and what happens and he legit doesn't even know what Project Horizons actually is, it's the silliest shit.Rampage is pretty!!!
>>42698531Her Talent is "Victory At A Cost", she's guaranteed to win but it will always be at the expense of at least one other person dying. It's overall Somber's excuse of saying that she isn't allowed to have any friends or family or even a happy afterlife cause her talent is quite literally being unkillable at the cost of everyone she cares about. Also yea she's a complete self damning alcholic, perma horny, overpowered, angsty red and black oc, but what people like is she's also self aware about her flaws and desperately tries to self improve even though her own author just tries to throw every single road block to prevent her from growing out of her edgy phase. I think a lot of anons mainly relate to the core theme of her just trying to trek through life despite the never ending rain of absolute shit that is her daily life.
>>42699568To put it short, she's a mess. And that's what people relate to.
>>42699568>>42700145And I get that, but its still red and black OC Mary Sueism on full display. Making it somehow her talent is just an excuse and a bad one at that. Somber write characters very well, but he fell into the one up-ism trap and then kept digging deeper. Plus direct anime references are gross.>Somber was bad and he should feel bad.
>>42700182>Somber was bad and he should feel bad.No one will disagree with this. He dropped the ball hard with Speak.
So Murky does a much better job that PH because it doesn't raise the stakes above the original. It keeps them local and personal (for the most part).A big problem in fiction (Marvel movies and the Dresden Files are good examples) is constantly trying to raise the stakes. Previous entry you saved the neighborhood? Now its the city, then the country, then world, then universe, then multiverse. But the problem with that is, you can't really care about the nebulous concept of the world or above. If you don't care about the people being saved, the stakes don't matter.
>>42699568>>42700145Man I don't want this shit. I just wanted the edgehorse and her friends to find some peace and happiness together. This is like the exact opposite of that
>>42700202I had to look that one up. Are you refering to the unfinished sequel where Blackjack is forced into therapy?>Also more Murktober
>>42700234That's one thing I don't think Somber understood. How Kkat merged the worlds of MLP:FIM and Fallout. Bad things can happen in MLP, but the evil doesn't win in the end because friendship. In Fallout bad things always happen and evil can totally win. Unless you have more guns than evil.In FOE the bad things have already happened and evil is winning because everyone forgot about friendship. But with friendship (and enough guns) good can and does win.In PH, Somber acted like only through constant suffering can you beat evil. To the point of torture porn. And even if you win, friendship only got you so far and probably killed your friends.
>"Daisy I need ya to come to Florida with me. The technobarbarian mutiecorns just declared war on Waffle House because the place is being powered by the reactor from a giant war mecha and we gotta stop them before the Celestia Space Center gets destroyed. They do a tour of the place every year and I've never been!"
>>42700352So how high is she?
>>42700182>>42700234>>42700305Yeah I've always argued that if Somber had just ended with Blackjack dying after killing the Eater then at least it'd be a tragic yet hopeful ending. But then he had to ruin it all with the stupid fucking "Blackjack becomes immortal and becomes Pip's sloppy seconds (because of course PIP also has to lose all her friends and not see em with Ponk and Puppy in Pone Heaven) is all the embodiment of Somber falling for the trap of trying to Out Grimdark all the other fics rather than to give his own characters even a scrap of a bone after going so hard with them. Also yeah Murky is the better fic plot wise, cause Somber went way too far trying to turn his fic into a brick sized JRPG plot, while Murky just stuck with being a low stakes personal FoE plot and completely nailed it. Both still have some of the best OC casts in the fandom though.
>>42700248Yeah, that one. The whole age retcon thing in this story is pure garbage.
Might toss in one more art I have with Blitzy
>>42700226>the Dresden Files are good examplesDF is intended to end with "an apocalyptic trilogy", it'd be worse if it didn't gradually raise the stakes until that point.>>42700202He dropped the ball harder with "Blackjack Wearing Skinsuit Of Scotch Tape Gets Striped". Homelands that is, he lost the ability to write any protagonist but Blackjack by that point so Striped Tape acts like BJ rather than like Scotch.>>42700248Sequel by a different writer altogether with Somber's assistance, yes.>>42700352FAT
Why are there so many sidefics that take place in the pony equivalent of the Deep South?
>>42702875Southern pride
>>42702875Because Dixie is the best
>>42702472She has psycho tendencies, doesn't she?
>>42703031Shes usually way more composed and collected, an only has rare occassions where she becomes battle drunk. This here is one of such rare moments
>>42700352What setting is that?
>>42703378Retarded horse in post-apocalyptic Florida. But I love mecha so I want to pay homage to all the giant robots that made childhood cool
>>42702971Thats where my FOE OC is from and where he gets his name Dixie Normus he is an earth pony.
>>42701203Murky's quest was fun to read but it only works out because of circumstance. That's why Protege needed more screen time and a better ending.Although it's the only fic which does its villains right by depicting them as unrepentant bastards who you want to see lose. So many other stories make their villains sympathetic or attractive or tragic and then I feel conflicted when the main character starts winning
>>42704547Chainlink Shackles was such a brat in need of correction... I'd force him into a maid outfit.
Project Horizon is annoying because the characters are likeable and I do want to read about them, but the setting is so convoluted and removed from Fallout that it becomes impossible to ignore.Even when I first read this story back when I was underage and I had no standards, the ammount of Goldenblood related asspulls felt fucking stupid.
>>42704547The original FoE doesn't do that either.
>>42704989Which is one of the reasons why it sucks
>>42704632It is kinda funny how Somber tried to make Goldenblood thid mastermind character.
>>42705476The actual mastermind...
>>42696695I want to bully Deus
>>42705641Who of the two?
>>42705823>Bully DeusThe guy got deceived, turned into a machine hybrid, castrated, blown to pieces, brain-transplanted into a tank, and blown to pieces again. I don't see how anything you could do may top that.
>>42705895
>>42706534I like how P-21 is just pissed because he knows what shit Blackjack is capable of.
>>42706697P-21 is allowed to be as angry as he wants to be
>>42702875The Zebras didn't think the hick earth ponies were worth using megaspells on. Those idiots had no idea what they left alive.
>>42706833Right. If anyone has a right to be mad, it's him.
>>42706969Plus can add extra mystical stuff.
>>42706642Your choice in mares is terrible, but your determination is respectable.
>>42687892i have done a bit of this and that and based on that i think i would like mintals the most maybe a tiny smidge of moon stone every once in a while
>>42698879>Rampage is pretty!!!if she wasn´t a yucky stripped zigger, she´d be pretty cool, i do like her personality though
