First for FUCK the TUNERD
2nd for happy holidays and happy horse words!
Merry Christmas, Anons. I'm happy to see things are mostly the same around here.>>42900253Well, I'm here now, so if there is serious intent behind modifying the SK (and Reviewanon is still present) I can do that. But I'm not sure if it's worth reopening that can of worms.>>42900259CZ was an ambitious story, but it kinda fell apart towards the end. I feel Sarge works much better with fantasy, though that might just be because he has a lot more experience in that genre.
>>42901089It's okay, we're all adults here. You don't have to pretend you were trying to do anything other than insult me. But you need to work harder. That attempt was so petty and juvenile that I found myself amused rather than offended. Good luck in the future!
2026 better be my year or I'm going to shit your pants
>>42901110>off by oneOff to a great start!

>>42901051Can you guys believe it? Filly! And just a _ away!I am so happy with this information!
What'd you get for Christmas fimfic?
>>42901186Even funnier, you get only five points for good grammar, but you may get additional $10 for including cuckolding.
>>42901268Some books (not fanfics), insulated pants, new work shoes (old ones clapped out) , gloves, a new phone case, t-shirts, candy, jerky, and some scratch off lottery tickets (made less than they cost)
>>42901268Wife drew our horsonas together as a gift, and I wrote a story about her OCs for her.
>>42901406If that's not love, I don't know what is.
Happy Hearth's Warming, /fimfic/>>42900212>>42900253I really do appreciate it, you two. Thanks for sharing your interpretation, the kind words, and of course, for reading.>>42900259>>42901051I think CZ sucks!>Published: Dec 25th, 2022Has it really been that long? Time to post the last Fokienia, I s'pose.>Was that any good?It was my first and only long fic. I'm biased, so, I'll say this: I personally still really like it in a lot of ways (such as the fact that it's actually completed), but I don't recommend going out of your way to read it. I always wanted to write a sci-fi fic, so I did. And I did so by throwing in allllll the sci-fi shit I like. CZ is sloppa, but it's MY sloppa. >I feel Sarge works much better with fantasy, though that might just be because he has a lot more experience in that genre.Yes, fantasy is much more palatable, as I get to fully lean into whimsy and ponydom. I do not sit well in the sci-fi writing chair.
>>42901097I mean, I've seen the female name and the story about trans characters so it was a reasonable assumption to make. I forgot you're also bipolar though.
>>42901133I must have missed that particular episode of TNG.

I knew it'd be very niche, but the idea just kept prodding me until I wrote it.>>42901406That is absolutely lovely.>>42901268Some clothes, some sweets. I think it's the latter? But ridiculous nonsense doesn't make me angry. It makes me laugh (hence my affection for crackfics). You should probably give up. I realize that's hard (and your commitment to your bit has been admirable so far), but if you keep replying, I might have to tell my family what I think is so funny. >>42901797>>42901862I'm not sure what you're getting at here. These weren't funny, just incomprehensible. Is your problem jealousy? You're jealous of the fact that I can write and you can't? I signed up for Jinglemas, and because I'm competent, I delivered. It sounds like maybe you weren't able to finish your fic in time. But that's okay! Not everyone can be competent. While we've got 'Nippone' for a fun pony name for Japan as an example, what does Russia have other than 'Stalliongrad', that's just a city rather than a country.
>>42903611I have the same question as him. That thread isn't an answer because it's just a nigger coom thread, and I've never even wanted to try cooming to shitskins. Does the spade have any meaning beyond "blacked"? Where does it come from?
>>42903710I'm fairly certain it was just chosen because some dude liked card deck suits.Incidentally, BLEACHED took off after the blacked shit ramped up and they took the heart suit as their counter to the spade.

Lot of insecure ponyboys in the thread.
>>42903714>whyteboys claiming heartsReminds me of spic supremacists employing the clubs suit in a similarly derivative move.

>>42904199Neither jalapeños nor burgers are native to where I'm from. What's common to ones is exotic to others.
>>42904308What really fucks with me is how if you were to ask what's the two most rustic foods one could think of in my country, people would immediately answer potatoes and paprika. They are in centuries old recipes, they are part of folklore and folk tales, they are present throughout our entire lives... and yet they've only been around since like the 16th century.Which is obviously still quite a long time, but on a historical scale, it's barely a sneeze.
>>42904322I can't believe guns are older than potatoes.
>>42904339See, that's the exact opposite effect in my opinion.I'd expect guns to be a relatively modern thing. >>42900727>Did they agree to take it slower? I thought Peter's position in the hot tub scene was "if you don't put out tonight, I won't keep waiting, and I'll probably start banging someone else as soon as we get to the city".You're right after looking at the chapter again, although it's worded in a very poor way. Peter did say he may find someone else in the city, but confusion comes from the moment after from how the MC said they do indeed like him and said they needed more time to be ready before Peter responds by agreeing and saying they'll see where that takes them. Essentially, instead of Peter giving up and actually letting the MC know that they should only remain friends from now, he left it in the air to keep his options open. Worse, it was worded in a way to make it sound that Peter was agreeing to WAIT for the MC to be ready, while also getting off on the technicality that he did say before that he would seek someone else at the city. In the end, Peter is just a character in it for the sex, even if he has to string along someone's emotions, just in case he gets an in. Regardless it that was the original intent in his writing or not.>nothing can top the bit with the mechanic colt in Sisters of WillowbrookI may regret asking, but what happened in that instance? Never read anything from Starscribe up to this point, so I'm curious of what the worst example of their writing is.>That would honestly be fine. I'm not a huge fan of the way Sunburst is written in the last few chapters, but at least he has some personalityLess bothered by Sunburst himself and more from the MC side of things, and the potential railroading of the situation. It's just frustrating to see the MC be easily adapt to the idea of having sex with the opposite gender with little to no resistance on the matter. For what's suppose to be a serious story about an apocalypse, a human man going through a gender bend into an alien species sounds like a situation where they would get angry and fight back with all their might if they noticed themselves falling into a form of instinct they knew was part of their alien body, especially if that instinct is changing something as personal as sexual attraction, which is exactly what that bat pony guard perfectly illustrated (before they completely fucked it up), but instead the MC is written to be easily giving in to stallion scent and the idea of sleeping with them to the point of low standards. Again, the potential was there to explore the conundrum of alien instincts, especially if Starscribe actually had the relationship with their ex remain for whatever time, but instead it's just written closely to a porn scenario involving a gender bend.
>>42904797the simple answer is the instinct isn't alien and he was just in the closet and now has an excuse to lust after stallions

>>42904843Oh to have the confidence of a socially unaware autistic...
>>42904797>Worse, it was worded in a way to make it sound that Peter was agreeing to WAIT for the MC to be readyI think he pretty explicitly says that he's NOT going to wait:>If we get down there, we meet other people—there's nothing that says the two of us are ever gonna be together like this again. Right now, we're just friends. He's willing to commit to a relationship if the MC is, but if not, then they're "just friends", and he may well start dating someone else before she finishes making up her mind.>It's just frustrating to see the MC be easily adapt to the idea of having sex with the opposite gender with little to no resistance on the matter>the MC is written to be easily giving in to stallion scentYeah that's Starscribe's standard "omg why does this big manly stallion smell so good". >>42904797>>nothing can top the bit with the mechanic colt in Sisters of Willowbrook>I may regret asking, but what happened in that instance? The MC, who is supposed to be fairly responsible for a 14-yera-old filly (which makes sense given she was previously a 25-year-old human man), has sex with a colt she just met a few days ago and lets him cum inside. He actually thought she was a dude the whole time (she's been in disguise each time they met so far), but once he realizes, he starts making out with her less than five minutes later. In the span of about 500 words, the story goes from him seeing her closet full of dresses and saying "hang on, you're actually a filly?" to him sneaking out of her room as she lays on the bed wondering if she just got herself knocked up. She never had any romantic feelings toward him prior to this, and also never sees him again afterward. This is obviously "oh shit filly, wtf are you doing" tier behavior on the part of both characters, and I fucking hate it. But I could just barely be persuaded to look past that if the author had a good reason. For example, if the MC were to actually get pregnant (by a commoner, no less), that would create all sorts of interesting problems for her back at home. The author did not have a good reason. He just needed her to get laid as a milestone of her growing up (the human MCs get turned into 10 year old fillies, and the story follows them until age 17 or so), and for some reason decided to have her do it with this random-ass guy instead of an established character. IIRC after this point she pretty abruptly goes from having no interest in colts to wanting to bang the servant's kid (who by the way is another nothingburger of a character, not quite as bad as Peter, but still badly underdeveloped given he's a major love interest). She also starts having a more mature mindset in general - not "having sex has given her a better understanding of sex and relationships", but rather "having sex makes her metaphysically an adult, so she magically has a better understanding of other random shit". Kinda like that deranged Stephen King book where the kids all have to screw each other before they can escape from the sewer.Honestly, this fic wuold have been so much better if the author had shipped the two MCs with each other (there are in fact two human guys who both get turned into fillies at the same time). They aren't even sisters in any meaningful sense (they're raised in separate households and barely interact for most of the fic) so it wouldn't even be incest.

>>42906025>Does the poor romance problem extend to any female lead they write where they can't help but fall back into shallow chemistry, or is it specifically only where gender bending is going on?Starscribe is just bad at writing romance in general. There are a few notable exceptions, but afterward he went right back to writing garbage. The good ones are:>Fine Print: really good except for the ending. The main conflict of the whole story is "will he decide to give up his entire life on earth to be with Rose?" In the end he never actually decides, he just gets b& from earth due to Discord shenanigans so he has no choice but to stay with Rose.>Forbidden Places: the romance plot involving Kaelynn is good, the other one is not. The ending is kind of dumb, but for non-romance-related reasons.>Through the Aurora: this one actually starts out with TFTG and "omg stallion smell good", but they don't actually get together until after they've gone on a bunch of adventures together and saved each other's life several times. Though from the screencap I posted earlier, apparently two years ago I thought it sucked.>Mew Like Me (pokemon fic): not really the same thing since the MC and his girlfriend are already together at the start of the fic, but he gets TFTG'd and they actually stay together afterward.
>>42906025>Will make sure to avoid any Starscribe fics that involves any gender bending then, I supposeThat is approximately half of their fics. And the other half still involve transformation/transhumanism shit or FIO shit.

>>42906758I doubt it's as much of a contest as you say. kkat is the winner. For one, the Starscribe comment chains only ever have substance on the club weeks. The rest of the time, it's just the same "I want to get validation that the trans characters are too happy and the ships suck" followed immediately by validation that the trans character are too happy and the ships suck, and a smattering of keks, and then maybe it's repeated. For another, there's still a Fallout thread, and importantly distinguishing it from the FiO threads, there's an element of care to compare FoE spinoff stories against kkat's work. The thread doesn't want to talk about good fics, so that tends to manifest in how much worse Somber's writing is than kkat's, but a lot of it still revolves around kkat. In contrast, it's hard to believe that big of a fraction of FiO posters even know Iceman authored FiO. That story was written to be released as a "what if scifi trope you guys" and generally left to spin on its own afterwards. People are much more likely to know about FoE than FiO out in the bigger fandom.Even this thread has certainly talked about Forthwith and Luna-tic more than Starscribe, overall.>triforce captcha

I cannot think of a reason ponies would try to overthrow their monarchy one way or another. Happy Horsemas, everyone!>/FSBC/What do you mean I'm late? Impossible! At least the post is.>A Canterlot CarolI was positively surprised! Whom the Princesses... was a good (or even very good) story that I liked a lot less than it deserved, in part for the pretty unpleasant humanization (worse, making them br*tish!) and bureaucratization of Equestria. This still has traces of that because we're in the same setting, but owing perhaps to the Hearth's Warming nature of the fic or it being a shorter oneshot, that nonsense is vastly reduced here—the worst you get is the zebras=blacks thing, but that can be blamed on the show. Oh, and this fic does close to a 180 on the role of the Princesses. Whom the Princesses(...) was downright disrespectful, and this is not. Very good.Comedy is also reduced, which I'm sure would be a problem for those who enjoyed the very br*tish humor of the original, but I wasn't one of those people, so for me, it's all improvement. In short, I liked this fic a whole lot. The author is a very capable writer, his idea was good, and the execution leaves nothing to be desired. Almost nothing. While the tone of the story is very Hearthswarm'y, and the big conversation with the zebra ambassador actually works super nicely for a "moral" of a Christmas story, the last scenes of the fic are a bit underwhelming. Yes, I can see what he was going for, but having both Celly and him end up working and alone on the holiday in an attempt to say that this is also good and a valid way of spending Hearth's Warming... sorry, I disagree. It soured me a little on the fic, but it didn't ruin the 95% of the story before it. Good fic! Like a 7/10, because the writing is really excellent. I am writing these parts as I read the fics, and I'd expect this to be either the best or second-best story now. We'll probably see in a second, when I read TD's fic next.>Our GiftsHave we been unlucky, or is The Descendant wildly overrated? Maybe I shouldn't start with such a controversial take, but this is pretty medium. Not a bad fic, like a 5/10, but this really isn't doing it for me. The Hearth's Warming atmosphere is pretty good. It is also evoked in a somewhat forceful way, but alright, for the holidays I'll permit that. It's just that... the character voices are pretty mediocre, trending towards bad. And for a fluff Slice of Life fic, messing up characterizations in this way takes away a lot of points. The writing is pretty good—far better than the site's expected level in 2012—but the story is sort of fine, and the characters somewhat ruin it. Also, I think his interpretations of some of them are straight-up awful (like making Shining dumb), and having such direct sex allusions in an E story is also wrong. The emotional climax of the story was also just okay. Exactly opposite of the previous fic, I came here with a pretty good opinion of the writer and walked away disappointed. I won't downvote it, but I hesitate to leave an updoot on it!(1/2)
>>42909554(2/2)>SantaFive letters in, I'm sold! Amazing. Away with all the formatting bullshit done by people who want to look cool and postmodernist and shit. THIS is great! The effort into personalizing each letter (the look, errors, style, formatting, etc.) elevates this into the status of a great fic! The character voices are excellent, and the fic gets probably the most points for uniqueness that I've given a story. The ending is a little abrupt, but I can't honestly dock any points for that, with all the effort already in the story. Excellent! 10/10, go straight into Favorites; no objections will be accepted. This fic humbles TD's story so badly it's not even funny. Holy shit. >StoriesThe second latest comment under this is by a deleted no-story default pic account saying simply, "What utter shite." And look, while mr. Jonathan is close to being "objectively" wrong, I do kind of wish I had the clarity of purpose that he seemed to live his life with.Instead, I'll say that I disliked reading this. I won't downboop it because I don't think it's a bad story, but I kind of sort of hated the idea of this. This is basically a collection of simple "dark" stories meant to take apart old pony myths and the romanticization of them. And the author does this by submerging us in a pretty bad Shitquestria, kept "compatible with general canon". Awful, really. Also, it should maybe be obvious, but I don't mind reading some bad AU Equestria fics, as long as it's done for a valid reason. For instance, Synthetic Bottled Sunlight had some issues, but its (exaggerated, even) shitquestria wasn't one of them. Or the infamous ToD, where the absolute moral corruption of DT serves as a driving force in the first part of the story and is later— well, spoilers! If we're being generous, I'd guess that the "point" here is dark humor, as a juxtaposition of how bad things were then and how they are now, so much so that the Princesses and Cadance don't even see the problem? In either case, ew. I couldn't bring myself to read the third one in this mini-series.[VOTING]Well, back to the our regularly-scheduled program we go!Some suggestions:https://www.fimfiction.net/story/450660/trouble-in-tiatartahttps://www.fimfiction.net/story/37820/lines-and-webshttps://www.fimfiction.net/story/76931/the-monster-belowhttps://www.fimfiction.net/story/3479/the-games-we-playhttps://www.fimfiction.net/story/755/on-a-cross-and-arrow

I had no idea what this fic was and the epub literally just tells you to fuck off and read the fic somewhere else kek. 1 letter in and I knew it was my favorite>The effort into personalizing each letter (the look, errors, style, formatting, etc.) elevates this into the status of a great fic!Yup, AJ writing Celelestia was a highlight. Even something like that adds so much world building to the fic, I bet it's not uncommon for a decent chunk of ponies to have pretty common writing errors like that and somehow it adds to the ponyness of it all. And holy shit Sweetie Belle's letters were beyond extra and yet I loved it. Especially when she double's down. This style is incredible honestly. Letting SB have the same errors as the other cmc but a vastly better presentation is perfect. And AJ was just a more mature AB style that even kept some of the errors, kino.>10/10, go straight into Favoritesdefinitely>I won't downboop it because I don't think it's a bad story, but I kind of sort of hated the idea of this.kek, the princesses just like to do a little trolling>guess that the "point" here is dark humor, as a juxtaposition of how bad things were then and how they are now, so much so that the Princesses and Cadance don't even see the problem? In either case, ew. I couldn't bring myself to read the third one in this mini-series.Celestia just trolls them the hardest, her story is about Luna creating Sombra and then Cadence tries to get in a fight with Luna. Definitely absurd and it really just never should've mentioned anything about canon compatibility for this short of a fic. Just let the readers read the fic.

>>42909555I vote for cross and arrow. Though I was the anon who voted for tiatarta to be on the starter kit my opinion of it has soured a bit and I’m interested in reading an old rule63 fic like this. Plus Tiatarta is a fic in the middle of an incomplete series, and reading the previous short fic would be necessary for context.
>>42909918Meh.
>>42909792You've finished posting just as I was leaving, but I'm back now.>way too many of theseI think it was just a reference to the main fic.>>EQUESTRIA TO GROVEL BEFORE ZEBRASThat scandal was what I meant when I complained about IRL-themed garbage, but thankfully the fic didn't really go there and instead went with zebra lore.>Kino derpy ancestry and spartan tier civilization. Yeah, my problem is just that trying to tie it to canon FiM is bad.>why Celestia is such a little bitch in front of PlatinumBecause she has to be miserable for the fic. If she acted any more firmly, the story would have a good ending and it'd ruin what the fic was going for. Celestia HAS to be fucked by the Prince Faggot. I guess one thing I liked here was using the very good headcanon that C&L's princesshood is a title inherited from Platinum's line, and that Blueblood is also related to those.>this is pretty kinoI also just barely dodged the e-reader bullet.>>42909843>Can cadence not hear the distressed door opening that shining is currently paying attention to?She can, it just turns her on. She probably wanted Twilight to join them.>The scene where Twilight chased him around 'trying' to get his candy cane was betterThat was a nice scene.>Oh is that the other dimensional (...)It is. I don't blame you for not recognizing the OCs, but I do blame you for not realizing that it's the exact same setting and almost the same tone as that fic.>Celestia doesn't want to spend time with Luna? This was exactly the part that ruined the ending for me. McFaggot's lesson is bad and shame on the author for writing it like that (I get where he's coming from, but Christmas isn't the time), but it is sort of defensible as Hearth's Warming-themed, and it underscores his speech to the beeg zeeb. But Celestia working through Hearth's Warming is awful. It kind of makes sense in the story, with her trying to let him go home for the holiday (and these scenes are meant to show both of them spending the Hearth's Warming "together"), but writing this problem into a Christmas fic is poor taste.>The kids are saying 'mid' these days.Doesn't 'mid' actually mean that the thing in question is sort of bad? Like mediocre; perhaps even worse. 5/10 is almost average (and perhaps 5.5/10 would be even more appropriate), not really bad.>pretty much all 6 charactersAt least it's better than in Youth in the Garden, if not by much.>>42909867>the epub literally just tells you to fuck off and read the fic somewhere elseHa ha, that was my experience, too. I opened the fic and the story immediately tells me to not do it. Well OK, I'll read it later, I guess.>CelelestiaPlease be patient with her; she's an earth pony. Sweebles' letters were really cute, too. And Scoots's writing being barely legible in terms of grammar and, well—If I start listing it like that, I won't end until I quote the whole fic.>This style is incredible honestly.I don't remember being this impressed in a while.

>>42909554>Inappropriate Hearthswarming StoriesThe most appropriate title of all!I'm a fan of dark stories, and the tales themselves are interesting enough explorations of dark themes. I just find it hilarious that they're framed the way they are. Why everything? Hard Spartan societies, royal rape, mutilation and the rise of a tyrant. Happy Hearth's Warming, girls!Honestly, this is just bad. If you like comfy pony, you'll be disgusted. If you like grimdark, you'll be bored by the framing device. If you like this kind of whiplash and tonal inconsitency... It's not really that good overall.I mean, I don't hate it. But I won't call it good.>Canterlot CarolI don't like Ghost of Heraclitus writing style. I find it repelling.>Apple BloomThe quintessential Christmas fic. Fuck yeah.Is it also the quintessential gimmick fic? I can't think of any other that does something unconventional with style that lands the way it does. It's just so earnest. Epistolary fics are nothing new. Using scans of actual letters is not unheard of. But man, the author really went out of his way to make every letter overflow character. It really feels like each character really is pouring their thoughts into the letter they wrote. Chef's kiss and all sorts of meme and clichés for praise.>Our GiftsHey, speaking of a larger story containing some kernels of good.I don't know. This feels like it could've been half as long while keeping all the highlights. Shining and Cadance's scene. General talks with Twi's parents. The heart to heart between Twilight and Spike.Normally, I like fluff, and I like The Descendant. But this just didn't do it for me. I enjoyed the peaks, but everything else was meh.How hilarious that we've read the worst stuff he has to offer.Yeah, I was out all day. Sorry.

>>42910950So, ___?
>>42911093Tried reading that recently and I genuinely could not get more than 2/3 of the way through it. I could only take so much of Celestia being a bumbling moron and Luna being a Machiavellian pedophile. Call me illiterate but it was honestly hard to tell sometimes whether or not the author was endorsing the awful shit Luna was doing. Seeking Power was better.
>>42910888>Username is Zaid ValRoaKek
>>42911170>spoilerThat fanfic was a good example of a fic which people in this general used to talk about a lot but now don’t. I remember being in this thread three years ago and it seemed there was a conversation about it every other thread. Also a good example of a fic people in this general had a superiority complex about liking.
>>42911170The donuts chapter does quite a lot to contextualize Celestia's actions and seeming inactions, I definitely wouldn't say she's written as a moron or any kind of bumbler. The only real exception is the premise (that she doesn't become Twilight's mentor), but I've already written about how the premise is impossible. As for what Luna was doing, there were definitely some things that it was clear Forthwith was not endorsing, like Twilight's induction to hatred of Celestia. I would rather the story not have toed the line so closely, but in the end I don't think what Luna was doing was pedophilic. I know there are some posters here who assert that Celestia and Luna, due to their age, can only ever love each other, and I wonder if you're one of them. The story itself is not that ambiguous about Twilight understanding what it means to have sex with Luna (she can consent) and that she wants to have sex with Luna (she does consent).I don't find the question of "if you say Twilight is 16 and write her more than half a decade older, is she 16?" to be very interesting, but there is another question in the story that is more interesting: Can an immortal raise her perfect mate? I think ___ answers it with "yes, but only in a fantasy." The thing that cinches it for me is that Twlight isn't coerced. Luna Rationally does both halves of making a perfect mate: she raises Twilight into her ideal partner while simultaneously predicting what Twilight's ideal partner is and transforming herself into that. In the end, Twilight could pursue a monogamous relationship with Twinkleshine. She doesn't, obviously, but Luna (by that point) clearly wouldn't make her stay.
>pedophilia is when two adults
>>42911317I think it’s pretty fucked up to kill someone and then use their remains to grow a homunculus in a vat and then groom that homunculus from birth to be your perfect lover. I also do not condone incest.
>>42911471but that sounds great
>>42911471And you think Forthwith endorses all of that, or what?Anyway, I agree that Sunset is a net negative on the fic, and that princest would've unnecessarily sucked a lot of the tension out of it.
Year's about to end. Will you try to increase your writing output before 2026 arrives?
>>42912209I'll certainly try.I'm still mad I didn't get a chapter of my longfic out all year. I don't think I'll be able to do it, but it would be hilarious if I did.I'll do my best, anyway.
>muh ruining muh timeline bullshit I have seen this in numerous fics involving things like time travel and parallel worlds and it makes no sense if you think about it for five seconds why did people ever consider this a plot point that could be taken seriously?
>>42912464You're supposed to watch the show before reading the fics about it, and this is why.
>>42912620fanon > canon
If you think about it, diverging from canon has a high risk of destroying the world because the author is likely to fail to step up to the task of writing a worthwhile alternate timeline, abandoning the fic.
>>42912464If time travel is a plot point i cannot take it seriously. It either opens up a can of worms that makes the plot utterly redundant or ends up being a waste of time
>>42912836yeah, there's certain McGuffins that create more problems than they solve, and require the chars to be idiots to have things work

>>42914055Fics about Luna and cheese?
>>42912464How does it not make sense? It's a pretty basic idea. You go back in time, fuck something up, and return to the present to see the fuck up had a domino effect. Or the opposite, you see a "bad" version of the future if you don't make the right choice in some upcoming decision.A parallel/mirror universe is a distinct concept, in that its setting happened independently of the story and the protagonists' actions. They're just along for the ride and are usually trying to flee that continuity and return to theirs.>>42912836The main issue is authors don't write the whole story before posting. It's insanely hard to write a time travel plot and not have the whole thing planned out. It can run away from you really fast and start kicking up paradoxes real quick if you're not really anal about it.

I mean, it'll be a bit late for that in two weeks' time, but definitely still an option.>>42910928>interesting enough explorations of dark themesEh, are they? Maybe I'm being too hard on it due to the framing device being a complete miss for me and their lack of ponyness is more pronounced as a result, but they felt pretty cookie cutter'y.>royal rapeTo be desu, it's really not. Unlike similar situations in history, this Celestia has no obligations to the ponies (yet), and literally nopony is asking or forcing her to do it. She's not bound by duty nor station nor family to marry him; it is literally the consequence of her own plan that places her in this spot. She wanted to strike a deal with Platinum, heard the terms, and agreed to them. Definitely not a pretty situation, but calling it rape is very excessive.>Is it also the quintessential gimmick fic?Honestly, it might be. The amount of effort and soul put into this fic is so good.
