I really feel for Phil as he lost his wife and the mother of his child, and I'm not trying to clown on the guy for singing directly from the heart. But this is unlistenable trash. All the songs are just him strumming a guitar with lo-fi production, and "I love you when you were a dancer, but instead you died of cancer". It's creatively limited, one note the entire runtime, and devoid of interesting chords or melodies But if you criticize the album in any way, you're basically a complete asshole. I feel like reviewers were forced to give it a great score because of what happened instead of judging it purely on the music

Phil is so pretentious. When he tours, he often stays at the homes of fans. He stayed at a friend's house in Easthampton, MA, and insisted the friend had vegan food available. Also, he and his band wouldn't talk to or hang out with the people who lived there at night and when they ate breakfast the next morning. Granted, if you're touring you may not want to party with fans cause you have work to do, but it just sounded really lame. Just get a hotel. But you know who is actually worse is Calvin Johnson of K Records. That guy is a total fucking asshole. All those guys are. They don't have enough fans to be acting like such big shots, even if they did release some good records.
